“Whoa……isn’t this Coliseum much bigger than a real one?”

Real one meant the Coliseum in the Rome of Earth, but this『Grand Coliseum』in front of me was also an impressive architectural structure. The female knight was confused at all my reactions, but in the end she just ignored them. The place was crowded. This tournament would start soon so it’s natural for staff and people roaming around. It seems that any weapons, armor and spells are allowed.

As the tournament unfolded however… there was something I didn’t like. It was ok when commoners fought commoners but… when a commoner was dealing with a black robe… the black robe nobles always won. Something is fishy here. Eventually, it was the female knights’ turn. Before she prepared to enter the arena, I grabbed her hand.

“Wait.”

“Eh!? Is something wrong?”

“Don’t go. Something isn’t right about this arena. If you go… you’ll definitely lose.”

“Don’t worry. I’m pretty confident in my swordsmanship. My opponent isn’t as skilled.”

“Still…”

“Hey, relax. I brought you here to cheer me on. So please, cheer for me.”

“… Alright…”

I couldn’t stop her as she was pretty determined.

“And for our next match. From the left gate we have the noble Maximilian Volgris. And from the rate gate, lieutenant Vivian Oldra. May both of you show us an honorable match.”

So, her name is Vivian, huh. I doubt I’ll remember it. Female knight sounds better. And it seems she’s fighting that guy that got on my nerves. It should be even, since they’re levels are almost the same.

“Here I come!”

Female knight dashed swiftly towards her opponent. She thrust her rapier, but the creep managed to block it with his sword. Moreover he quickly pulled out a second sword. Dual wielding.

Clang

Female knight superbly blocked the second blade. Swing after swing, thrust after thrust. She was overwhelming her opponent. And her footwork is pretty impressive also. Her swordsmanship is really good. But soon… what I feared happened. It didn’t take long before her blows couldn’t push the black robe anymore.

“What…”

“Did you think I was serious till now? I was just testing the waters. You didn’t really think you could beat me, did you?”

The female knight panicked. Her movements became more chaotic. Maximilian was blocking all her attacks. Moreover, he was starting to overwhelm her. His style didn’t change at all. But for some reason his swings became heavier and the female knights’ speed dropped significantly. Not too long a swing broke her stance. The creep managed to disarm and he stopped his blade inches from her neck.

“The duel is over! The winner is Maximilian Volgris!”

The female knight collapsed on her knees. Her pride was deeply hurt, yet nobody seemed to care. The sound of applause was all that could be heard. These assholes… I shouldn’t get myself involved with this… but I can’t stand such obvious cheating.

“Shut the f̲u̲c̲k̲ up!”

My scream echoed across the arena. The nobles were all disgusted by my speech.

“Guards, remove her at once!”

2 guards approached me and tried to grab my hands, but they both ended up falling on the ground. A double karate chop was all it took to silence them.

“You guys sure act so happy and full of yourselves. Do you really like cheating that much?”

Commotion started among the audience.

“Silence.”

A guy with red hair and blue eyes managed to make everyone silent.

“Young lady, I can’t let that remark pass. You dare accuse nobility of cheating?”

“You bet!”

“I am chairman Wiss Bernstein. I organized all this. Your basically attacking my pride here.”

“I couldn’t care less.”

“Well then, if you’re so sure of it, then show us proof. Just how exactly are we cheating?”

That’s what I wanted to hear. I lift my right leg up a bit and pour mana into it. In a split second I slammed it onto the ground. In the next moment a magical pentagram with various runes was revealed across the whole arena. This Bernstein fellow… judging by the fact that he’s sweating and he keeps looking back and forth between the ground and a butler… it’s clear he put it there.

“This is…”

The female knight was confused.

“This is a magic seal. It drains the power of anyone inside it. Well, almost anyone. All these nobles are wearing a badge on their chest. That’s some sort of protection charm. The seal won’t trigger on them. You started out strong, but this thing just made you weaker. They may fool anyone else, but you can’t get pass me.”

Gotta thank my gaming knowledge again. This was something strictly lore wise. Players don’t interact with this, but it is mentioned in the story.

“You guys look down on commoners too much. How bout I change your view?”

I got no reason at all to step in. In fact, why am I even doing this? There’s nothing in it for me. Well, I can’t back down now.

“Very well… I don’t know how this happened…”

Yeah right. Are you still denying it? Now I’m mad. At least be a man and admit it. I point my index finger at the so called chairman. He slightly twitched.

“Oi, how many nobles are registered in this tournament?”

“How many you ask? Well… 50. Why?”

“Perfect. Listen! All 50 nobles are all my prey. I’ll beat all of you!”

“To declare something like that… are you mocking us? You actually think you can fight 50 consecutive battles?”

“Who said anything about consecutive battles? That would be too boring. I’ll face all 50 of them at once. Oh, and also… keep this seal. It’s the perfect handicap.”

“You… just how far will you take this? Fine. Your wish is granted. Fellow nobles! You heard her. Enter the arena all at once!”

“Gyaaaa!”

Some of them let out some pretty crazy battle cry. The white hair dude raised his voice.

“This is gonna be payback! You dare insult our bloodline with your crazy talk. Can’t you see that strength belongs in the hands of the nobles?”

“What a boring sense of justice you have. You don’t even know what power is.”

“Kek. No matter how outrageous of a person you might be, if we, the noble families one sidedly destroy you, our honor will be restored!”

“Hou? It seems you gained quite a big mouth now that the number of your allies increased.”

“Enough! I can’t stand you anymore. We’ll end it in an instant!”

“Something we can finally agree upon. It will be over in an instant. Now come at me, and receive my judgement!”
