At last I get to see a World War II attack submarine take on a fantasy world ocean!
(It’s not actually a World War II attack submarine, it’s more modern than that, but the point stands.)
You have to understand, while it’s not that great an anime, the original GATE just pushes the right buttons to be an absolute favourite of mine. And the concept of a submarine in a fantasy world is also a favourite of mine. There is a reason the novel I was planning to write also features a submarine predominantly. I love it.
Anyway I do have some concerns, the fact they’re skipping to the sequel, kind of makes sense to me I guess?
The manga is approaching the finale of the original novels (technically all the epilogues exist so they might adapt those too) which means maybe they want to start selling the sequel content in prep for that?
But what bothers me is the studio, it’s basically just a group that made a studio for doing projects together, and that means it’s hard to predict their quality output together. I hope they do well……
