「If, hypothetically, this world were to be destroyed, would that lead to miasma overflowing in various other worlds?」
「Momentarily, yes. Creatures worse than the so-called Demon Lord would be born, cataclysmic disasters would be rampant, and all that. I can just make a quick replacement world, so it’ll be just a small nuisance to me, but from the perspective of mortals, it would be several centuries of day-to-day danger.」
「So would that equate to frequent outbreaks of earthquakes and typhoons in my old world?」
「There’s even a possibility that monsters would appear, but that’s about right. As such, depending on the world, humanity might go extinct. That would simply be the consequence of the said world’s humanity lacking in effort.」

That’s just like the Creator God, I guess; her response really shows that she’s a God of Worlds. I think it’s been mentioned before, but the Creator God is not a God of Humanity. Alsharohs and the other gods known on the surface seem to be Gods of Humanity―similar to gods of mythology.

Personally, I align more with the Creator God’s stance, but that’s just my opinion; we’re talking about the taboo right now. From the conversation so far, I already have an inkling of what counts as a taboo, but just to be sure, humanity’s position is important to know.

「Now then, about this world, there was originally no plan of having humanity born here.」
「The purpose of this world seems achievable enough by the monsters themselves, after all.」
「I properly configured it that way. At the very beginning, Fii and the spirits didn’t even exist. It was a world of nothing but monsters. That all changed when humanity came to this world.」
「The first of humanity came from another world?」
「They apparently escaped from a place that was under no god’s jurisdiction. And since my intention was to generally leave this world alone, I noticed them far too late. By the time I discovered them, they had already started adapting to life in this world.」

So humanity arriving was outside of the Creator God’s expectations, huh. To be exact, they were probably outside of her perception. Had they been visitors from a world made by the Creator God, she likely would have immediately noticed. So at this point, there must be another world-creating god other than the Creator God, but enough of that for now. It’s completely unrelated to this world.

「Did you try to remove them?」
「I considered doing so at first, but by the time I found them, they had even made the framework of what eventually became sorceric tools, so I allowed them to settle down after deciding on some rules. The act of breaking those rules is my taboo.」

And that’s how it is. I also understand now that sorceric tools have a special status. Since sorceric tools need magic cores to operate, they actively accelerate the purification process, and the act of defeating monsters in order to obtain magic cores aids in it as well. Humanity’s role is to help with the purification process, but in the Creator God’s eyes, I guess it doesn’t really matter if they exist or not.

「Since this world was never made to be inhabitable, spirits were sent in to transform it into one that humanity―and other living creatures―could properly live on, and as their numbers increased, the den was created to both secure a living space for monsters and to make it difficult for powerful monsters to spawn near humanity’s living areas. Fiiyanamia was assigned the role of managing the den where the one you two named Khyturi resides in.」

I nod in agreement to the Creator God’s statement. Were strong monsters quarantined as an act of mercy for humanity to not easily go extinct? Or was their containment requested by another god? If it’s the latter, I’m honestly impressed with that god… Am I being blasphemous right now?

「You should be higher than her in terms of divine status. Since you have me as something of a patron, the other gods can’t be careless with you.」
「I see. What about you, Creator God?」
「My actual body is among the highest of divinities. This one is around high-grade in divinity.」
「Is that so? In that case, what would I be in the future?」
「Eventually, you’ll be just a bit lower in status than this fragment of me, I think? Though there’s no telling what the state of this world will be by that time.」
「That sounds like a very long time.」
「That’s the nature of my existence. Now then, back to our discussion.」

I nodded in response. I might need to be concerned about it eventually, but I don’t think this issue can be resolved in one lifetime, much less tomorrow, so there’s no particular reason to ask about it now.

「When speaking about taboos, there’s a need to differentiate based whose rules are being broken, but my rule in general is for humanity to continuously live dependent on magic cores—and so the taboos for me are things that greatly transgress this.」
「So the development of sorceric tools that don’t require magic cores, the invention of an energy alternative to magic cores, finding ways to inhibit the spawning of monsters—and other things like those, right?」
「That should be most of it, I suppose. It doesn’t really count if it’s just on a small scale, but those that would greatly affect the world would break the rules.」
「What about the optimization of the energy usage of sorceric tools?」

If this isn’t allowed, then what I’ve done before would be crossing the line, so it should be alright to some extent. But there is a chance that I was specially overlooked.

「As a general rule, if you’re using a magic core, then it’s good. No matter how optimized it is… Actually, the more optimized it becomes, the more accessible sorceric tools will be, resulting in the total increase of magic core usage. As for alternative energy, I do allow it to some extent. Otherwise, burning wood to cook wouldn’t even be possible.
However, things like thermal and hydroelectric power generation are transgressions. As a rule of thumb, technologies that rely on magic cores are permitted, while those that make magic cores obsolete are not.」

In other words, electricity itself isn’t forbidden, and electric power generation through the use of magic cores is still acceptable. Rather, since it could require a large amount of magic cores, it might be a welcome development for the Creator God. I glanced at the Creator God for confirmation, and she directed a cheerful smile at me.
Even if I’m able to generate electricity, I don’t really know how to utilize it, so I hope it gets naturally discovered and popularized on the surface.

「Besides this, the other acts that are considered taboo are those that were decided by the gods born in this world—the first people who settled on this land—and so those are unrelated to me.」
「Wait, hold on.」

I needed some time after the sudden revelation. I considered the possibility, and there have been myths of humans becoming gods even in my old world, so it shouldn’t be that absurd of an idea. Still, hearing this so suddenly was just too much for my mind to process.

In short, those former mortal gods are―

「The individuals recognized as gods by the people of this world, yes.」
「… That explains why even the names of gods who never give out oracles are known.」
「Their names could have remained in written records, too. These gods are individuals who were worshiped by people and satisfied various conditions for divine ascension. They are a bit different from you; in a sense, they’re natural-born divinities.」
「They seem quite close to humanity.」
「After all, from their eyes, the humanity of this world are like their own children.」

Translator's Note

And that ends this part of the chapter! Quite interesting how the revelation makes the Creator God more like an eldritch outer god, and how there may be more like her. Also, we now have a clear explanation of what counts as a taboo. It’s really just an energy issue, lol. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment. Stay healthy, stay safe, and have a nice day~!
