As the number of people in the cafeteria started to increase—「How about a cup of tea?」—the princess invited me for tea. The moment she verbalized it, I didn’t really have much of a choice. But if I did accept, it might make me stand out. But I guess having lunch together with the princess is already conspicuous enough in the first place.

「Isn’t that too much special treatment?」
「Worry not, I intend to mingle with students I share classes with as much as possible.
It just happened that we share the same course in the first period, Miss Ailneige.」

Is that really okay? Is this really just a coincidence?
I couldn’t help but question it, but after realizing that it would be better to leave the problem to Princess Leshimiiya instead of being needlessly dismissive, I decided to accept.
I’m honestly trying to be considerate of Princess Leshimiiya’s stress levels, but since she initiated it this time, I’ll leave everything to her.

She led me to an open-air café-like area on the cafeteria’s rooftop. I didn’t know we had a place like this. While I can’t exactly see the entirety of the academy, the scenery is great and the breeze feels nice up here.

Perhaps this place actually sees more activity during teatime?

Sitting at our seats with black tea and cake before us, I voiced my thoughts out loud. 「Let’s see…」 Princess Leshimiiya responded.

Or perhaps this is just common knowledge students here ought to know.
While musing to myself, I noticed Princess Leshimiiya was staring at me with somewhat envious eyes.

「Miss Ailneige, you are a hunter, correct?」
「I haven’t been active since the academy’s opening, but that’s right.」
「Do you do anything special in terms of skincare treatment?」

Ah, it’s that kind of question, huh. Despite being a princess, or perhaps precisely because she is one, she seems particular about beauty and body care.
Saying I do nothing is the easiest answer, but it might come off as sarcastic, so I’m hesitant.
If it were just a random stranger, I wouldn’t care how they interpret it, but she’s a princess of this country. Even if she already knows I’m the daughter of Mistress Fiiyanamia, I don’t want to cause needless friction.

『You want to talk about it?』
『We’ve already shared it several times before, so I think it should be fine.』
『If you think so, Ain, then I won’t be against it. We did plan on moderately exposing our barrier within the academy, after all.』

We considered the possibility of someone asking about it, so we’d planned to reveal a bit to begin with, but this came faster than expected.
I’ll set up soundproofing just to be sure.

「Since I gained my current status, I’ve been using better products, but I don’t have any particularly special treatments. Regarding beauty products, they should be about the same level as yours, Princess.」
「But that’s not all, is it?」
「Also, I’ve been blocking sunlight with my barrier for as long as I can remember, so that may have something to do with it.」

The shocked princess quickly grasped the implication of my abilities and changed her tune.
To be exact, it doesn’t block sunlight itself, but explaining would be bothersome, so this should suffice.
Her downcast expression must mean she realized that she wouldn’t be able to replicate it on her own.

I don’t think I could do this much before Ciel turned five, so magic power capacity is likely a major factor.

「I also have something I want to ask—would that be alright?」
「As long as it’s a question I’m fit to answer.」
「Of all the teachers in the academy, who are the most renowned?」

Mother Fii said it before: only people who excel are capable of committing a taboo. In that case, starting from the top seems logical. So I took the opportunity to ask.
Princess Leshimiiya paused for a moment before answering.

「The most famous would be the headmistress, Miss Lorbeim. She was a sorcerer once rumored to have the potential to reach S-rank. After her would be…」

She continued naming a few others, and I tried my best to commit them to memory, but most were individuals who didn’t seem relevant to the taboo—like a former knight, a former A-rank hunter, and a swordsman—so prospects seemed dim.
Among them, the headmistress has the highest chance. I don’t know her usual schedule, but she seems like someone who can adjust it if needed.

And that ends this half of the chapter! It looks like our girls are also finally making progress with the their taboo task!

Continuing from the previous chapter, it seems like Princess Leshy wanted an extension for their time together. What’s funnier is that, the princess mainly seems to just want to know the secret behind Ciel’s smooth skin, which then led to her realizing the potential behind Ain’s barrier and what it could “block”. Anyhow, it seems like the headmistress is going to be our girls’ main target in the meantime.
