A special sorceric tool is required to ascend to the floor where the royals reside.
By having this object touch the elevator’s staff, you can temporarily access the top floor, but it breaks after a single use.
This is probably just for invited guests, while Princess Leshimiiya possesses a version of it that can be repeatedly used.

Or maybe there’s a different elevator that’s exclusive for royalty.

It was the appointed time. As Mia and I arrived at the top floor, several familiar-looking knights were there before the door.
Seeing us, one of them said, 「Thank you for coming.」
Thereafter, a maid came and lowered her head.

「I shall guide you to the princess’ room. But before that, may I receive permission to search your belongings?」
「Of course. Should I hand over my magic pouch as well?」
「We would greatly appreciate that.」

Ciel lent our magic pouch to the maid, while Mia handed over a concealed knife to a knight.
While I was surprised that she had one, it’s probably necessary for emergencies.
After that, I was wondering how the search would be done, and apparently they have a sorceric tool for it.

We had Mia go through the search first and observed the process.
While I don’t understand its intricacies, it probably wouldn’t be a problem even if we had the usual barrier up, so I had Ciel go through it as well.
With this search done, we were led further inside the floor.

In addition to the living space, the top floor houses facilities similar to those available on the third floor. For operation and maintenance, there are a lot of workers around.
While my past life sensibilities question the need to do this much for a single person, my current self does understand that this is probably necessary.

Since it’s just a simple meetup, I thought we would be led to what looks like a reception room near the entrance—I found it with detection—but surprisingly, we were brought before what appears to be Princess Leshimiiya’s private room.
Wondering if we’re really going to the right place, I peeped at the maid’s expression, and it doesn’t look like she’s particularly lost or troubled.

We’re not being led there by mistake, but deliberately, it seems.
Well, the said room does have an anti-sorcery sorceric tool being used on it, and there are probably other security measures installed.
I can still use my barrier there without any issues, but the spherical barrier is easier for people to detect, so I’m conflicted on whether to keep it or not.
The usual concealed barrier is honestly enough for defensive purposes, and even if Mia were to be attacked, I’m confident that I could protect her.

The problem is that this anti-sorcery device is meant to obstruct the activation and retention of sorcery.
That’s why whether I chose to maintain the spherical barrier or undo it after entering, they might still find something weird about it. Though from Princess Leshimiiya’s perspective, she probably already finds us weird enough.

『It appears that sorcery can’t be used inside her room; what should we do about the barrier?』
『It’ll be fine even if we don’t have the spherical barrier, right?』
『Got it. Let’s go with that.』

Since I plan on letting Ciel handle the entire interaction, I asked for her opinion, and she immediately responded.
Having no objections, I decided to follow Ciel’s suggestion.
While Ciel and I were discussing, the maid apparently knocked on the door, as there was a mature voice asking, 「What is it?」 from within the room.

After that, a brief exchange followed—「We’ve brought the guest.」 「Princess, the guest has arrived.」—before the door was quietly opened.
The interior is mostly the same as our room. Unlike ours, which went through a thorough rearrangement, they didn’t tamper with the room much, resulting in its simple look.
You can say that it doesn’t really reflect Princess Leshimiiya’s character.

Aside from Princess Leshimiiya, there were a few servants present, and after checking with detection, it doesn’t seem like anyone else was hiding nearby.
Since you normally can’t use sorcery inside here, I expected there to be at least one person hiding for the princess’ protection, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

「Thank you for coming here today.」
「No, it’s my pleasure to be invited here.」
「We’re only having a casual meeting today, so please relax and feel at home.」

Urged by Princess Leshimiiya, Ciel approaches her chair, which Mia then pulls out so that Ciel can sit down.
Ignoring the servants around, it’s honestly nerve-wracking to be alone with the princess of a nation.
That’s technically incorrect since Ciel is with me, but she’s in control, showing no sign of nervousness.

Mia stands behind Ciel and erases her presence while the princess’ attendant is preparing their tea.
Well, she’s just pouring it in their teacups. They probably prepared beforehand so that tea can be immediately served the moment we arrive.
As expected of a royal attendant, I suppose.

「This room has the same configuration as my room.」
「Apparently, it’s to create an experience similar to that of the other students.
We’re using this room today in hopes that the familiarity will allow for more relaxed and open communication. After all, this is merely a casual meeting, not one that calls for formality.」
「Did the others come here too?」
「That’s right. The others were invited here all the same.」
「You would feel very secure in this place, I suppose.」

Listening to the conversation, Ciel’s response was a bit risky.
To be precise, it’s implying that Ailneige suspects that this meetup is only a camouflage to have a private conversation and that she knows about the existence of the anti-sorcery sorceric tool.
Neither of those are an issue for us, and if I’m being honest, it’s not the end of the world if the princess discovers that Ailneige is Cielmer, so I don’t actually mind it.
To begin with, even if I took control, can I respond better than Ciel? The answer is a resounding NO, so I can’t really complain. Besides, the reason I can think this much is because I’m just an onlooker to their conversation.

And that ends this update! Previously we had Ain vs Princess Leshy, now it’s Ciel vs Leshy!

I don’t really have much to say since their conversation has just barely begun, but it was funny how Ain admitted that she’d probably do no better that Ciel’s response right now. Like “That was a risky answer, but could I give a better one? Nah. I just have a lot of time to monologue right now.” Good on you, Ain. Lol

Now then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment. Stay healthy, stay safe, and have a nice day~!
