Project GB is an official initiative by Re:Library.

I can’t tell her that it was because the boy was likely about to insult me.

Frankly, it’s probably fine to say it, but if I do, we might not be able to move into our dorm within the day. If that happens, I’d feel bad for Mia.

Nonetheless, while I have noticed it during the exam, it seems like barrier sorcery isn’t very popular amongst the students.
It is quite plain compared to attack sorcery, so I can understand the lack of interest. It’s convenient for me to use, but people normally can’t achieve constant deployment, and it takes considerable skill to simultaneously use a different spell proficiently while having a barrier deployed.

And perhaps because of that, he may see Ailneige as a coward for specializing in barrier sorcery.

Even so, those are merely false accusations on the boy’s end.
And perhaps offended by how he’s being ignored, the boy’s voice gradually grows louder by the minute. Since I can’t hear it, I don’t know what he’s saying, but judging from the increasingly stern glares directed at the boy, he must have self-destructed big time.

Soon enough, it seems like the academy staff finally noticed the ruckus, as the raging boy was then dragged away by some brawny men.
Following that, a lady then slowly approached us.
Unlike the stern-looking men, the lady had an awkward expression; looking closely, she appears to be the same lady who answered our questions about the academy several days ago.

「So it was you.」
「I didn’t do anything, though.」
「I understand that, but it’s getting a bit messy here, so could you come with me for now?」
「Can she come along?」

Ciel turned to Mia, and, following her gaze, the lady stared at Mia as well.
Mia gracefully bowed, to which the confused lady asked, 「She is…?」

「My attendant; will it be a problem?」
「No… If that’s the case, then it’s alright… I believe.」

For some reason, she suddenly sounded more polite. Is it because she interacted with us thinking Ailneige was a commoner, and now there’s a possibility that we might be a noble child?
I can’t ask her directly, and there’s no point mulling over it, so I’ll just leave it be.

「Okay, good. Now then, follow me.」

Or so I thought, but now she’s back to her original way of speaking. I’m sure she’s just weak against irregularities.

Led by the lady who seemed to be a teacher, we were brought to a small cabin that was beside the academy gates. This is probably where they receive guests, since despite the size, its furnishings and interior aren’t too shabby.

「I’m Claura; I teach the fundamentals of sorcery in this academy.
You must be Ailneige, correct?」
「Yes, that’s right. So, why were we brought here?」
「For fact-checking… I suppose. And because you attracted so much attention that it could delay the announcement of the results.」

I think bringing us here attracted attention too, but it’s no mistake that we would’ve still attracted attention if we remained there.
If anything, the fault clearly lies with the boy and his cohort, so I have nothing more to say.
Ciel doesn’t seem bothered by it either, as she simply replied, 「But I don’t know anything about those people.」

「Right, so it seems. By the way, do you recall ever conversing with a fellow entrance examinee at the Hunter Guild?」
「I remember being asked to teach about herb gathering. I declined though, because I can’t protect them.」
「Thank you for the honest answer. That certainly aligns with the information we have.」

Information? Oh, she did mention fact-checking; perhaps there’s value in hearing it directly from Ailneige regardless if they already know.
Now that I think about it, the academy was likely the one who initiated the examinee lookout project, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that examinees who misbehave would be reported to the academy.

In short, the academy is most likely aware that those students secretly followed us around.

「What will happen to the person who was taken away?」
「He will be declared disqualified and escorted outside the academy premises.」

Is it really alright to tell other people’s results so easily? Well, since the common sense here is different from my previous world, maybe it is.
Besides, if he won’t be around, I’m personally happy. If both of us had passed, I’m sure he’d keep needlessly pestering us.

If what happened to him becomes known, then the people who were nodding behind him shouldn’t act out thoughtlessly either.

「That ends this topic. Now, I’m going to announce your results right here; will that be alright?」
「Yes.」

Ciel gave an immediate reply, but Claura… No, Ms. Claura showed no surprise and simply donned a serious countenance.
Like I thought earlier, this feels completely different from the result announcement I know. At the very least, I wasn’t as calm as Ciel back in my time. I was nervous to the point of nausea.

「Ailneige, you received passing scores for all test subjects except for one.
The detailed breakdown is written on this document, so make sure to look through this while choosing your courses.」
「Understood. Until when do I have to choose?」
「Have it settled by the academy opening five days from now, alright?
Also, you have been assigned to class A, so good luck with that.」
「Understood.」

As if it were only natural for Ailneige to pass, the conversation between Ciel and Ms. Claura proceeded smoothly.
Personally, I also expected us to pass, so it wasn’t a surprise, but it still feels a bit weird.

As for the class assignment, I heard that there is generally no significant distinction between the classes. However, there are classes that may have more problem children or top scorers than the others.
At the end of the day, the academy will set things up to be convenient for them without running contrary to their academic principles.
However, Ms. Claura expressly wished Ailneige good luck, which could mean that Princess Leshimiiya or someone else who would warrant that might be in the same class.

「Do you have any questions so far?」
「None at all.」
「If you have any questions later on, feel free to ask us teachers about it.
Next, I believe you should already know, but during your tenure, you will be required to live in the academy dorms, so…-」
「Please give me the biggest room.」

As Ciel’s immediate answer cut her off, Ms. Claura was left speechless.
She then meekly asked, 「Do you know how expensive it is?」
The residence fee for a whole year is 100 gold or 10 large gold coins. The circumstances here and in my old world are different, so it’s not going to be an exact equivalent, but that’s roughly 10 million yen a year.
That’s an insane amount of money. Additionally, there’s also the tuition and matriculation fees, but those are spare change compared to the price of the dormitory room.
Well, if the tuition and matriculation fees were not this low, no commoner would be able to afford it.

Ciel casually shoves her hand into our magic pouch, retrieving 30 large gold coins, which she then puts on the table.

「Would this be enough?」
「Y-Yes?! It’s enough?!」

With a pile of gold before her eyes, Ms. Claura squealed in response.

Bam! Ciel casts “Pouch of Heavy Gold” before ending her turn! It was super effective!

Man, the boy really got triggered there. What gamer words did he utter that he pretty much attracted the ire of everyone before the burly guards came to kick him out? Meanwhile, our girls was quickly reunited with a familiar face, the now named teacher Claura. It’s cute how she’s quick to be flustered in the face of unexpected situations. Also, curious how our girls passed in all but one subject.
