On the day I played with the spirits, we remained in the forest until morning and returned to the royal capital just before noon.
We should have gotten plenty of the night-exclusive herbs.
I don’t know why these can only be harvested at night or for what medicines they are needed, but if there are no requests requiring these night herbs, we can just hoard them in the magic pouch.

And if the gatekeeper ever asks us about it, we can just play the laughable role of hunters who, despite risking their safety to find night herbs, mistakenly harvested the wrong ones.
In fact, we apparently didn’t actually need to gather a lot; after returning to the Hunter Guild and turning in two-thirds of our harvest, the rest are stored away in the magic pouch. There are other medicinal herbs that have been sleeping inside our magic pouch untouched, but will they ever see the light of day again?

Nearly all of the spirits went home, but it seems like Lisyl will be looking after the one who had transformed.
Apparently, it would be best for this little one to stay close to me.
It isn’t a particularly strong spirit, and some spirits do follow around people they like even if they’re not spirit users, so I decided to entrust the final decision to Lisyl.

Regarding the fact that she woke up in the middle of a forest, Ciel didn’t really question it and simply said, 「So you can’t go inside once you’re out」 in amusement.

Since then, we went to the Hunter Guild once as Ainsel to check if there was any correspondence from Central.
After that, we took on an A-rank request and managed to unload some of the materials collecting dust inside our magic pouch, but that’s a different story. We nearly got entangled with fools due to the mask and our height, but we completely ignored them and ran off, so I’ll omit the details. As for whatever happened to them after, I have no idea.

I find it difficult to say whether time flew by or dragged on forever, but we managed to reach the day of the results announcement without getting caught up in any major incidents—we steered clear of the Hunter Guild just to be safe.
The results announcement will be done individually at the entrance of the second academy, it seems. I expected the results to be displayed on a bulletin board or the like, so it was somewhat a surprise.

「How were the announcements back in Ain’s old world done? 」
『Each student would be assigned a number, and they would post the results with those numbers in an open space.』
「I see. What do you do afterwards?」
『You’d go home and finish the remaining procedures at a later time, I believe. That reminds me, for the second academy, we’ll have to process our dormitory assignment right after this.』

For commoner children in particular, they might not have any place to stay if they can’t move into their dorms immediately, and there’s likely a few whose parents are there to help with the process.
I suppose that’s why they chose to go by each examinee individually so that the passers can promptly process their documents.

It’s also possible that it’s a way of identity verification as well. While I’ve never heard of people impersonating others to enroll at a school in my previous world, it’s likely doable in this world without photography.
I do hope that they won’t use a special identification sorceric tool like they do for Job identification. Though if that is the case, I feel like I should have already heard whisperings of why it wasn’t used during the entrance exams.

We went by ourselves for the exams, but today Mia is together with us.
If we, by some chance, failed the exam, we’ll have to go home with her anyway, and if we passed, we can pay for the large room in which attendants are allowed to be brought in. Instead of having her come at a later time, it’ll be more convenient for us to be together, and it would serve as an indirect sign that Ailneige has the financial capacity to have an attendant.

Well, with Mia’s experience working as a servant, she’s skilled at masking her presence so as not to be obtrusive towards her master, so there likely won’t be many that would notice her next to Ailneige.
I see that there are people with attendants like us here and there, so even if Mia does get noticed, we shouldn’t stand out much.

Despite that, I feel like we’re getting a lot of stares, but since they’re directed towards Ail and not Mia, it isn’t difficult to imagine why.
After all, no matter how much we fabricate Ciel’s status and academic ability, her beauty remains undeniable. Coupled with her rare long white hair, it’s easy to see why people would be drawn to gaze at her.

But on our end… Actually, Ciel and I are already used to it; we don’t really care much at this point.

Regarding the second academy’s dorms, they’re divided into ranks; the lowest rank is the free two-person rooms with the minimum necessary furniture provided. Commoners without money generally choose this one.
After that are the one-person rooms of the same size, and both of these do not accommodate attendants.
Next are the rooms intended for noble children, which have dedicated spaces for one attendant.
And last are the rooms intended for high nobles; these are the fewest in number. For this room, you can bring several servants with you, but it’s, well, extremely expensive.

We can easily afford it, though, so we’ll be getting that.

Also, there’s apparently a room exclusive for royalty, but that has nothing to do with us. I hear that it takes up a whole floor or so.

Judging from the surroundings, it would probably take a whole day for us to get our dormitory room when suddenly, 「Hey, you!」 someone called out to Ail.
Ciel annoyedly turned to the source of the voice, and there was a boy with wounds all over glaring at us.

I feel like I’ve seen him before, but I can’t quite remember; while I was contemplating, the boy flared up.

「It was your fault we got wounded! Make up for this.」

The other examinees are watching from a distance, but on a closer inspection, there are wounded girls and boys nodding in agreement behind him.
With that, I finally had an idea of who they were. They were the ones that secretly followed us when we were gathering herbs.
In that case, I feel like this should be related to the magic power boy, but I don’t see him anywhere. Well, to begin with, I can’t even remember if these children were a part of the group he led. Ciel probably doesn’t remember either.

「Who are you?」
「”Who,” you ask?」
「I don’t have any acquaintances like you, nor do I remember ever being acquainted with you.」

Hearing Ciel’s confident assertion, the boy gnashed his teeth.
In truth, we did act as if we didn’t notice them, and we didn’t check who was following us either. Even if he was behind the magic power boy back then, he didn’t even talk to us, much less introduce himself, so he shouldn’t be mad about not being known.
As such, his claims are unwarranted, and simply ignoring him would probably be the best choice. Ciel seems to be doing the same, so I suppose we’re both choosing to disregard him. Or so I thought—until the boy suddenly hollered.

「In the first place, it’s weird! How does someone who can’t do anything but use barriers earn that much! You—…」

Before he could continue, I added soundproofing to the barrier to prevent Ciel from hearing more. Noticing this, Ciel asked, 『Oh, what’s wrong?』 with a gleeful tone, so I replied, 『It’s nothing.』

And that ends this chapter! Once again, trouble fails to ignore our girls, it seems!

While it shouldn’t be surprising at this point, it was cute how Ciel trust Ain so much that after waking up in the middle of the forest, her first thought was “Oh, we’re not at our room, so you probably can’t go inside the city at night”. Speaking of Ciel, it’s also cute how after Ain’s sudden IRL censorship, she immediately went “Oh, I’m not supposed to hear this, aren’t I?” and is lightly teasing Ain for it. Also, depending on what the boy said, Ain is either being overprotective of Ciel or is trying to not get the boy killed. And based on the mention of barriers, well, pray for his soul.

Now then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment. Stay healthy, stay safe, and have a nice day~!
