Re:Library

Lin Feng’s voice crackled through the walkie-talkie. “Hey, Ruolian, can you hear me?”

Ruolian, sounding timid as always, replied, “Ah, Lin Feng? Yes, I can hear you.”

“I won’t be back for a couple of days, so let the principal and others know not to worry about me. I’ll do my best with the plane,” Lin Feng instructed.

“Okay, take care, Lin Feng,” Ruolian responded, her voice filled with concern.

After ending the conversation, Lin Feng chuckled to himself. Ruolian still seemed as shy as ever, despite now being capable of sniping zombies from a distance.

Li Ying, who had been watching Lin Feng, asked, “All done with the call?”

“Yeah, all set,” Lin Feng replied, making himself comfortable in the tent as an impromptu pillow.

“Your coat’s in the way. Take it off,” Li Ying suggested as she expertly set up the tent beside the crackling campfire. Her skillful movements indicated she’d done this many times before.

Complying, Lin Feng nonchalantly shed his down jacket, revealing his thermal wear underneath. Unbothered by any potential discomfort, he settled down in the tent.

“Your thermal wear is also getting in the way. Take it off,” Li Ying commented as Lin Feng lay down.

“Get out of here. Let’s just sleep,” Lin Feng retorted, pushing her hands away and turning his back to her, determined to sleep properly.

“Fine, but remember, you promised to help me with something tomorrow. You can’t back out,” Li Ying reminded him, not pushing the issue further and preparing for bed herself.

“Yeah, yeah, it’s just a trip. You reporters really aren’t afraid of death, rushing into danger while everyone else is trying to escape,” Lin Feng remarked, yawning.

“We aren’t the only ones who risk our lives for our job, plenty others do so as well. One day, when you get into such a profession yourself, you will understand.”

“Is that so? Maybe I might, if we ever get out alive.” He cuddled his fluffy tail, wishing he could just sleep in his underwear for comfort.

——-Change of Scene—–

“What? Lin Feng left already?” Anna exclaimed, shocked, as she spoke to the school doctor and Liu Mengqi.

“Yeah, he probably left yesterday,” Song Zhe interjected, appreciating the school doctor’s culinary skills.

“I can’t believe I slept for a whole day and night,” Anna lamented, lying on the table, thinking about how she could have clung to Lin Feng to prevent him from leaving. She realized she hadn’t felt him get up, which was typical of his feline nature.

“Without Lin Feng, our little Anna is feeling lonely,” the school doctor teased, handing her a glass of milk.

“Who’s lonely? I just miss someone to scold, that’s all,” Anna replied defensively, quickly finishing the milk.

“Sleeping more is good for kids, you know. It helps with growth.”

“Really? Who are you calling a kid? I’m the same age as Liu Mengqi!” Anna protested, then glanced at Liu Mengqi’s chest.

“I hope Lin Feng and Hao Jian are successful in finding that plane,” Liu Mengqi mused, turning off the TV displaying unconvincing news.

“Did that annoying fat guy finally leave?” Anna inquired, relieved not to see him around.

“I don’t know. He went to complete Lin Feng’s challenge of killing a hundred zombies. It’s been a while. I’ll check on him,” Song Zhe said, setting down his beverage and picking up his assault rifle and spear.

“That fat guy’s got some determination,” Song Zhe noted in shock, noticing Pan De on the roof of a car.
