The city nights were noisy. The incessant flow of vehicles surged back and forth like waves, their roaring sounds echoing ceaselessly. Sometimes, in the midst of traffic jams, the blaring of horns, shouts, and curses mingled together, deafening to the ears.

Before crossing over to this world, or more precisely, before enlisting, Nan Yin lived with his sister upstairs. He often had to endure his sister’s howling-like singing from the neighboring apartment, sometimes practicing all night, preventing him from sleeping until dawn.

But now, Nancy stood at the intersection, watching the hustle and bustle of traffic before her, suddenly longing for her sister’s ghostly singing.

Unfortunately, the “sister” in this world wasn’t exactly a source of comfort for her.

Coming to her senses, Nancy realized she had been wandering aimlessly around the residential area near Roland High School for several laps.

The reason she’s out so late at night, undoubtedly, it was for Sherry.

The beginning of Sherry’s route was her being assaulted off-campus, so Nancy had been patrolling this area every night, hoping to prevent the tragedy that hadn’t yet occurred.

The residential area, more accurately described as a shantytown, was not well-maintained everywhere in Tianzhou City.

“I should head back now. It doesn’t seem like there’s been any progress today. I’d better go home and practice shooting…”

Just as she was about to retrace her steps, suddenly, the sounds of a scuffle drew Nancy’s attention. She realized she had aimlessly wandered into the depths of the shantytown without realizing it.

“Still dare to resist? You asked for it!” A furious shout led Nancy to the source of the earlier scuffle. After hesitating for a moment, she left her cake where it was, slung her backpack over her shoulder, and hid behind a thick power pole, ensuring she wouldn’t be spotted by either side of the fighting parties. Then, she cautiously peeked out in the direction of the angry shout.

The basic public facilities in the shantytown hadn’t been maintained for several years. With the flickering streetlights, Nancy could barely make out six or seven youths who looked like school bullies attacking a girl.

Actually, calling it an attack wasn’t entirely accurate; it was more like a one-sided beating. The girl could only dodge and not fight back, eventually being forced into a corner by the bullies.

However… the more Nancy looked, the more familiar the girl being attacked seemed to be… No! She was very familiar!

It was Sherry!

“You… you guys, stop it, I… I’ll repay the money,” Sherry muttered vaguely.

“And… and… assaulting a fellow student from the same school, aren’t you… aren’t you afraid of being expelled?” Sherry hugged her head, crying.

“Oh? Expelled? Miss, do you think we’re from Roland High?” To her surprise, the leader of the gang heard Sherry’s threat and didn’t get angry. Instead, he grinned.

“I didn’t even finish high school. If we could get into Roland, who would do this kind of thing?”

“What! You’re not…” Sherry’s back straightened in shock when she heard the man’s words. “You…”

Watching from behind the power pole not far away, Nancy frowned when she heard the man’s words. She didn’t remember this part of the original plot very well, but it seemed there was some hidden agenda here?

“Thinking someone’s plotting against you? You’re overestimating yourself!” The man ignored Sherry in front of him and pulled something out of his pocket, “Look at you. You just had to accompany that guy for a drink, so why make such a fuss…”

“Today, I’ve been asked to disable one of your hands on someone’s behalf, and also… have a little fun,” the man said with a lewd grin, “I hope, miss, that next time you’ll be more sensible and not let me disable your whole arm again.”

As the man spoke, he took something from one of his lackeys nearby, causing Nancy’s pupils to suddenly contract.

“You guys!”

“To be honest, if you follow him, your parents won’t have to worry about food and clothing anymore. Why bother?” The man seemed to be chatting casually, loosening his muscles and lifting the baseball bat in his hand.

Two men beside him quickly approached. One pinned Sherry down, rendering her immobile, while the other forcibly raised her left hand.

“Please… please don’t…” Sherry was already on the verge of collapse, reduced to tears.

“I say, bullying the weak isn’t very honorable.”

Just as Sherry was about to despair, a cold voice rang out from behind the crowd.

“Hmm? Where did this meddlesome girl come from?” The man stopped his actions, turning around to see a girl wearing Roland High School uniform emerging from the darkness where the light couldn’t reach, constantly fiddling with something in her hand.

“Hey, another pretty girl. Can’t find your way home tonight? How about I accompany you?” The man leered at the girl, his gaze lingering on her face.

“I repeat, bullying the weak really isn’t very honorable.” Nancy frowned as she looked at the baseball bat in the man’s hand. The plot shouldn’t have developed like this. Could it be that her butterfly effect as a transmigrator caused this?

In her memory, this gang was sent by a debt collector because Sherry couldn’t repay her debts. In the end, it only ended with a beating…

But now…

“Little girl, mind your own business. People could die.” Hearing Nancy still holding onto this matter, the man’s lecherous gaze turned slightly violent, signaling to the two lackeys on either side.

“Hey girl, wanna spend the night with us?” At this point, the two lackeys beside the man, receiving the man’s signal, whistled frivolously and then walked behind Nancy.

“Spending the night? Although I appreciate the offer, I’ll pass.” Nancy lowered her head, slowly slipping brass knuckles onto her right hand, while her left hand reached into her pocket and found a nunchaku.

She had never used these weapons belonging to the original owner before, but it seemed like she would have to use them today.

“Whoa!” When one of them was about to touch Nancy’s shoulder, he found the girl in front of him suddenly turning around. Before he could react, he felt a blunt force hitting his abdomen, causing him to curl up in pain.

Though she was once a member of the Huaxia Defense Army, her martial skills had been neglected for a long time, so Nancy had to be on her guard.

“Damn! What the hell do you think you’re doing?” The other person, seeing his companion who had been fine just now lying on the ground, looked ferocious with anger and swung his fist at Nancy’s back.

“A bit slow.” Nancy’s movements were faster, his fist hitting empty space. He only felt the girl suddenly dodging to his left side. Before he could react, he felt a powerful blow to his stomach and chin. As he slowly collapsed while clutching his stomach, he saw the girl wiping the brass knuckles.

“Who the hell are you! Are you here to save this girl?” The man saw his two lackeys being dealt with in an instant, his pupils suddenly shrinking. There was definitely a martial artist in front of him!

But he didn’t notice the trembling arms of the girl.

“It’s difficult for a woman’s body… to fully exert itself.” Nancy felt her possibly injured right hand and sore arms, suddenly looking up at the man still holding the baseball bat.

Capture the ringleader first!

The ruby-like eyes made the man momentarily dazed. Suddenly, he saw the girl in front of him suddenly bend down and then sprint towards him!

“You…!” The man only managed to use the baseball bat to block in front of his chest. He anticipated Nancy’s attack, but didn’t expect her to suddenly rush into his arms!

A dull pain came from his chest, a blow hitting his neck, followed by Nancy’s triple strikes to his abdomen with the brass knuckles!

“Ugh…” Holding his neck, the man pointed at Nancy but couldn’t speak. In the end, he trembled and fell to the ground.

“Boss!”
“Bro!”

At this moment, the remaining four or five lackeys beside him finally reacted. Each of them picked up their blunt weapons and surrounded Nancy with fierce expressions.

“Wait a minute,” before they could react, the girl raised her arm with the terminal and lit up the screen. It was the call log, with the 110 call record from three minutes ago at the top.

“I called the police three minutes ago. According to the nearest police station, the police will arrive in less than two minutes. Are you sure you still want to fight me?” Nancy’s cold voice echoed in their ears.

Seeing the remaining four or five lackeys exchanging glances, they silently lifted up their boss and the two unfortunate companions and quickly disappeared into the shadows at the end of the road.1

“Phew…” Nancy breathed a sigh of relief at this moment, the brass knuckles slipping from her hand, blood streaks faintly visible at her knuckles.

“Sherry… are you okay?” Nancy couldn’t care less about her injuries, turning to look at the crouching girl holding her head.
