July 23, Wednesday

It had been nearly two weeks since Old Feng disappeared.

Like someone with a severe case of OCD, I kept checking on her place every day—even though Zhao Zhao had gone off to suffer through hellish summer school, I still braved the scorching heat to visit Old Feng’s tiny bridge-side home alone.

Sometimes, I’d even squat there for an hour, fetching water and cleaning up the food cart.

But nothing. She never came back.

The only thing I had gained from all of this?

My stone-skipping skills had improved dramatically—I once managed to pull off an insane 15-bounce miracle shot.

Where on earth had Old Feng gone?

Was she doing okay?

Had she… encountered any hentai-like scenarios?

Should I report this to the police?

With these unsettling questions swirling in my head, I made my way to the bridge once again today, hoping for a miracle—hoping to see that girl with her stunning long hair standing there once more.

Lost in thought, I vaguely sensed something tapping me…

"Chang Kai Girl! Wake up!"

I snapped my eyes open—and saw a round-faced, white-haired loli staring at me.

"Eh? Master Halliluya? When did I fall asleep?"

The surroundings were still the same old bridge tunnel.

The two tiny houses where Old Feng used to stay were still right there.

Apparently, I had dozed off while leaning against the inner wall of the tunnel.

"Master, you came all the way to the real world to see me?"

"Wake up, dummy. Do you really think you'd have this impressive bust in the real world?"

I followed her gaze—

Then turned beet red and instinctively covered my chest.

…Wait. This bridge tunnel felt so real, but it was just a dream?!

"So, Master, why are you here today? Is it because the treasure you promised me is finally ready?"

"Nope. Not yet."

My white-haired loli master crossed her arms and shook her head in disappointment, her tiny eyebrows furrowing as her signature ahoge wobbled along.

"It’s just that I’ve been watching you stress out for the past two weeks, and honestly, I can’t stand it anymore. You’re supposed to be my successor—how can you be thrown into such a pathetic state over something like this?"

"But Uncle Feng, she…"

"Look, I can’t tell you directly what’s going on with her—after all, it’s part of your assessment.

But instead of worrying about her safety… you should be worrying about yourself."

"Worry about… myself?"

"The notebook can sense the condition of every name written inside it.

Including you, its wielder."

"Ah! So that’s why—even when I didn’t bring the notebook with me, it was able to rush over and help when I was in trouble?"

Crap! Wait—does that mean… everyone whose name is in the notebook has zero privacy?!

"That’s right."

"So you don’t need to worry about Feng Jingsheng. If anything serious happened to her, both I and the Heavenly Principles would step in immediately."

"Master, you have no idea how reassuring that is!"

Not panicking anymore. Problem solved.

I pulled Master in for a hug and nuzzled against her like a spoiled child.

She didn’t resist—in fact, she went along with it and even plopped herself down in front of me, casually reclining and resting her head against my chest.

She looked way too comfortable.

"But, as the God of Bishoujo, you have a responsibility to those you’ve blessed."

"If anything happens to the people under your care during this assessment…"

"…Then?"

"Your test will be considered a failure."

"And I already told you what happens when you fail, right?"

"Wait—don’t tell me… I’ll become an unlucky disaster magnet!?"

This is bad!

Did I just dig my own grave by writing Lei Meow Meow and Tian Xi’s names for revenge?!

Luckily, it all turned out fine in the end… but still!

"In my opinion," Master continued, "since you don’t have any clues, why not try trusting her instead?

"She has way more life experience than you do—maybe she’s already settling into a new life somewhere."

"But… this concerns my lifetime luck…"

"Chang Kai Girl!"

Master’s tone suddenly jumped up eight notches—

She whipped her little head around, puffing up her cheeks in frustration.

"It’s SUMMER VACATION!
It’s supposed to be your youth!
Moping around like this means you have zero qualifications to enjoy summer break!"

"Instead of wasting your days sulking around this godforsaken bridge—GET OUT AND HAVE FUN!"

"M-Master?!"

"Starting TODAY—
UNTIL THE END OF SUMMER VACATION—
YOU. ARE. BANNED. FROM COMING BACK HERE!"

"EHHHHH?!?!?!"
