The sun blazed high in the sky. From the east, a luxurious Beast Carriage advanced, swift yet steady. Within the carriage, Irene concentrated intently on channeling holy energy into the Holy Spirit Shard.

Yaeger sat alongside, her eyes gently closed.

‘Should all proceed as expected, Richard’s return is likely within five days. This interim must be used for preparation. Yet, the Direct Army’s focus on me complicates my mobility within the city. Curiously, there’s been no word of my fugitive status—unusual for Jade City. Are they truly so lenient?’

Given her audacious raid on the grand prison and the significant offense of liberating a prisoner, it’s surprising. The absence of a fugitive status under such circumstances is markedly troubling. Were Alicia still around, she surely could have quelled the matter. Alas, she is not.

‘Might Lili be behind this?’

The thought of a charming figure sprang to mind, prompting her eyes to snap open.

‘That’s right. Lili’s network ensures she’s aware of my prison intrusion. In Richard’s absence, her unmatched strength makes stifling this issue straightforward.’

Another debt of gratitude was incurred.

A smirk crossed Yaeger’s face, accompanied by a warm flutter in her heart.

‘Repayment of debts can wait. The immediate concern is strategizing for the imminent great battle. Should Alicia regain her former strength and glean significant insights from the Inheritance Jewel, our chances of victory would soar.

‘This assumes, of course, that Richard refrains from seeking external reinforcements, presenting an ideal scenario. Yet, unforeseen events may transpire, necessitating readiness for the direst outcomes.’

Contemplating this, Yaeger’s gaze shifted to Irene.

‘Beyond her lascivious tendencies, the Saintess proves remarkably beneficial. Capable of recharging my artifacts and warming the bed—psych! Bed warming is unnecessary. Nonetheless, she remains a valuable ally.’

Capable of vanquishing numerous foes with a mere gesture, her status as a Level 90 NPC and Saintess holds immense value.

Turning her gaze forward, Yaeger appeared to peer directly into Jade City, though still within the confines of the carriage. Another significant asset resided therein. The Dark Magician, Allie.

Curing her ailment would substantially enhance their prospects in the forthcoming battle.

‘A mere few days are required for Allie’s complete recovery; a convalescence period is unnecessary.’

With her medical prowess bordering on reviving the deceased, further recuperation would be superfluous.

‘It’s a pity that Alicia isn’t in Jade City. Otherwise, I could just pump her full of life energy and repair her body.’

While unable to lift the curse at present, Yaeger could easily mend the physical harm inflicted. Unfortunately, contacting Alicia was presently unfeasible.

‘No matter. The curse’s removal alleviates any concern for her well-being.’ Dismissing the thought, Yaeger’s concern shifted inward. ‘Given my strength, bolstered by my Artifact and the Holy Spirit Shard, how strong can I actually become? I’m definitely looking forward to that.’

Fists clenched, she harbored a silent sigh within. However, an instinctual alert caused her expression to undergo a sudden transformation.

Yet, normalcy resumed almost instantaneously.

“Something in real life seems to be affecting me.” Unlike the Jade Flower Garden, the [City of Chaos] posed no concern for her personal safety. “Let’s just go out and take a look.”

With a quiet command to the driver to halt roadside, Yaeger discreetly logged off, careful not to disrupt Irene. Given Irene’s formidable strength, there was little concern for her safety from nearby threats.

Back in the real world, Yaeger’s eyes fluttered open as she released her aura. Moments later, she detected a familiar presence—Vera 17. The youngster clung to the door with one hand, her expression a portrait of woe and desolation.

Upon closer inspection, she appeared on the verge of collapsing.

Leaping from the soft confines of the bed, Yaeger approached and touched the door. Instantly, the door slid open horizontally with a whisper.

“Wah!” The sudden opening caused Vera 17 to startle and lose her balance, tumbling to the floor.

In an instant, Yaeger caught her, preventing the fall.

“Princess, I’m so very hungry!” In Yaeger’s embrace, Vera 17’s initial words conveyed not thanks, but her pressing hunger.

At this, Yaeger could only respond with an exasperated look.

“Hadn’t I stocked plenty of canned food?”

“Little Blue consumed it all,” Vera 17 lamented.

“She has a taste for regular food as well?” Yaeger asked, perplexed.

“Yes, she mentioned never having sampled such food before, so she devoured everything.”

“Alright, I’ll fetch you some food. What would you like?” inquired Yaeger.

With ample funds at her disposal, Yaeger’s generosity was uninhibited. Previously, allowing Vera 17 to partake in canned food was considered a significant act of generosity.

“Charcoal-roasted beef, premium braised abalone in chicken stock, boiled cabbage…”

“Stop!” Yeager interjected before Vera 17 could list any further.

“KFC or McDonald’s, make a choice.”

Yaeger herself had not indulged in such delicacies.

“Uninterested, then? Never mind.” Yaeger’s refusal stemmed not from the cost, but from the hassle involved.

Vera 17’s desired meals were likely exclusive to five-star hotels.

“Absolutely not! I do want to eat—McDonald’s and KFC are my favorites!” she exclaimed in a rush.

“Choose swiftly; I’m pressed for time,” Yaeger pressed.

“McDonald’s… No, KFC’s fried chicken. And lots of it!” Vera 17 decided after a brief hesitation.

“Alright, I’ll return shortly,” Yaeger assured, looking towards the entrance. “Caught that, Little Blue?”

“Oh ho ho! Master, I didn’t mean to eavesdrop! Also, I want lots of fried chicken too!”

Little Blue peeked out, her smile brimming with mischief.

“As an Artifact Soul, eating isn’t a necessity for you. It’s merely a waste of food,” Yaeger commented, flicking her forehead lightly.

“Ouch! That stings. Remember, I’ve mentioned being a high-grade lifeform capable of eating anything, haven’t I?”

Nursing her reddened forehead, Little Blue responded with a tinge of sorrow in her voice.

“Alright, I’ll purchase some for you as well. Quickly teleport me near KFC, and be cautious of our surroundings,” Yaeger instructed.

Eager to proceed, Yaeger had no desire to engage in further discussion with them.

“Absolutely, I will ensure it!”

Immediately after her words, Yaeger vanished in a bright flash. Suddenly, a graceful figure materialized outside the KFC restroom.

“Directly inside, huh?” Yaeger murmured, surveying the familiar setting.

The establishment was notably quiet, with few patrons in sight. Swiftly, Yaeger placed a large order for fried chicken via her phone, proceeding to pay at the counter.

A brief wait of five minutes ensued.

Onlookers watched in astonishment as Yaeger exited the store, balancing eight large bags of fried chicken.

“Quite the haul. This should suffice for their daily needs, correct?”

Her remark left those nearby in a state of shock. Regardless of perspective, the amount she carried could easily satisfy ten grown men!
