“Invoke: Revival!”

Elna’s normally clear voice took on a resonant, sacred tone.

Suddenly, Zane felt his body sink under an immense weight, as if all the magic within him was being drained away at once. In the blink of an eye, his MP had dropped to zero. The magic he had drawn out solidified into a deep blue mirror that descended over the fallen Goblin.

The lifeless corpse began to change. The cold body slowly regained its warmth. The area covered by the mirror quivered almost imperceptibly.

“This is…” YoyoPink stared in disbelief at the sight before her.
“Incredible… to think even something like this is possible,” Endless Sea marveled.

The process was painstakingly slow, taking a full five minutes.

Crack.

The mirror shattered. And Lordsey, who had been sleeping in death, slowly opened his eyes.

“…” He immediately met YoyoPink’s gaze.

“You’re alive! You really came back to life!” she said joyfully, her happiness pure and sincere.
“It’s… you?” Lordsey’s gaze sharpened from confusion into clarity.
“No, wait. I was supposed to be… Tell me what happened. Please!” Lordsey sat up and bowed his head slightly.

Seeing this, Zane quietly had Starry sheath the Autumn Moon Sword.

He was still curious about whether players could truly tame a boss-level monster as a summoned creature. If Lordsey went berserk, they’d just treat it like a second boss fight—though he wasn’t sure if he would drop loot again.

Fortunately, this boss seemed to retain his reason.

YoyoPink gave a brief explanation of what had happened.

“My people… Where are they?” Lordsey asked in a low, grim voice.
“Um… you know about Bioraptors, right?” YoyoPink hesitated.

“….” Of course he knew. When they first came to this area, they had encountered the beasts several times, but under Lordsey’s protection, the Bioraptors hadn’t dared come close.

He hadn’t expected…

“Curse it all! It’s my fault they’re dead!” Lordsey clenched his fists so hard that his palms nearly bled.

“You… no, Wishkeeper, why would you revive me?” Lordsey struggled to understand.

He had heard of the Wishkeeper before—a legendary figure capable of bringing the dead back to true life. It was said such a power had caused great calamities, and that half a year ago, the Wishkeeper had vanished without a trace. Many had assumed she was dead, and Lordsey had thought so too.

Never would he have imagined that he would engage in battle with her—and now be revived by her.

“Actually, she’s the one who wanted to bring you back,” Zane quickly pushed the blame onto YoyoPink. No way could he admit he had done it just to kill him again for loot.

“Huh?” YoyoPink blinked, bewildered.

“You? But… don’t you hate me? You were so close to being delivered to those monsters,” Lordsey said, voice heavy.

What would have happened if Zane and Starry hadn’t intervened so quickly? There were two possibilities: either YoyoPink could have persuaded Lordsey to return to the tribe, growing under a neutral status… or she would have been handed over to the Dark Faction as a ‘sacrifice.’

Granted, ‘sacrifice’ could have meant many things, given the game’s freedom. Maybe she would have unlocked a hidden Dark Faction class instead. And it was clear Wynwater City wasn’t the only place with such storylines. Meaning… quite a few players had likely already joined the Dark Faction.

No wonder when Zane got the Wishkeeper class, the system said he was the second to achieve it—someone else had clearly gotten there first.

“Well… I don’t mind,” YoyoPink said gently.
“….” Lordsey looked like he couldn’t comprehend how a human could be so foolish.
“Alright, alright, enough chit-chat,” Zane cut in impatiently. “Would you be willing to follow her—and rebuild your Goblin tribe?”
“What!?” The two cried out in unison.
“As you can see, she’s an excellent Summoner. If you sign a contract with her, you’ll gain endless life. Then you can do whatever you want without fear.”

“Endless life…” Lordsey murmured, his gaze wavering. It wasn’t that he feared death—he had accepted that long ago. But after being instantly killed by that Umbra Arrow, he realized how pathetically weak he truly was. It was one thing to know it intellectually. Experiencing it firsthand was another—overwhelming despair with no room for resistance.

And yet…

She was human. That fact would not change. Goblins and humans had always been enemies, their relationship steeped in bloodshed. Besides, he had once been the chief of the Greenrock Goblins… but now, that tribe was completely destroyed.

He looked up at her. He found the girl watching him with a face full of worry.

If it is her…

“I understand. Let’s begin,” Lordsey nodded.
“Eh? Begin what?” YoyoPink asked in confusion.

The contract ritual was very simple. All it took was activating the Contract skill, and a mystical violet-red magic circle would appear beneath the target’s feet.

Normally, it was much easier to succeed if the target was beaten into a near-death state first. However, there were exceptions. For beings like Lordsey, who retained full self-awareness, cooperating with the ritual dramatically increased the success rate.

As the magic circle contracted, Lordsey transformed into a streak of light and flew into YoyoPink’s palm.

“How is it?” Zane asked eagerly.

“Success!” she exclaimed excitedly, and immediately shared Lordsey’s stats with the party.

Lordsey
Grade Epic
Level 15
HP 3,150
Attack 85–95
Physical Defense 37
Magic Defense 12
Skills Heavy Strike, Fivefold Throw, Swift Step
Strength ★★★★
Dexterity ★★★★☆
Intelligence ★☆
Wisdom ★☆
Vitality ★★★☆

It seemed that becoming a pet had placed him under the summoner’s level restrictions, and his stats had dropped significantly—far less terrifying than his original boss form. Even so, these attributes were still enough to completely overpower most players. Combined with Lordsey’s formidable real-world combat ability, he would be a tremendous asset to their party.

Endless Sea’s mouth nearly watered. “Man, why didn’t I think of going Summoner? This boss is even stronger than me!”

“The system said I’m the first player to get a boss-tier pet… and it gave me something extra,” YoyoPink said shyly.

Staff of Contract
Grade Epic
Required Level 20
Magic Attack 80–100
Intelligence 40
Wisdom 35
Special Effect Increases Mana Recovery Speed by 100%.
Special Skill Heart of Contract — All pet attributes +10%; Contracted Pets’ effects are doubled.
Description Those who cherish their companions shall be richly rewarded.

“Hss…” Zane sucked in a breath. This thing’s attack power already surpassed the Autumn Moon Sword!

On top of that, the Intelligence and Wisdom bonuses were massive! For Summoners, maintaining summoned pets consumed MP constantly, meaning mana recovery was essential—and now, with 100% bonus mana regen, it would be doubled.

Even more broken was the Heart of Contract, providing a 10% buff to all pet stats, and doubled the effectiveness of Contracted Pets. In short, a boss-tier pet—already not inferior to a player—would be strengthened even further. Once Lordsey unleashed his Fivefold Throw, who could possibly withstand it?

Once YoyoPink reached level 20, she could very well become the strongest Summoner around! Of course… judging by her awareness, she still had a long way to go.

“Contract Summon—Lordsey!”

The familiar magic circle reappeared, and Lordsey materialized once again!

“So you weren’t lying after all…” Lordsey said, sensing the endless vitality now flowing through him. Even if he were killed, his soul and body would regenerate inside the Pet Space.

“Wasn’t it you who agreed voluntarily?” Endless Sea quipped.
“Hmph. Had I refused, wouldn’t you lot have just taken me down by force?” Lordsey sneered coldly.
“Cough, cough…” Zane couldn’t help but feel a little guilty.
