Project GB is an official initiative by Re:Library.

The cooldown for Charge was approximately ten seconds, and if it landed, the target would be stunned for a full five seconds. Combined with the boss’ overwhelming damage output, anyone targeted by it was as good as dead.

Normally, a boss like this required a Tanker to take the hits, supported by multiple Priests providing constant healing.

Moreover, the level of this dungeon was clearly beyond what players at this stage of the game could handle.

Yet somehow, Zane and Starry—these two outliers—were managing to hold their own against the boss.

The Skeleton Warlord’s aggro was almost entirely focused on Starry. This meant that Zane’s role was simple—whenever Thousand Flash Steps ended, he had to carry her to safety, stalling until the next cooldown reset.

Once they established this strategy, things no longer felt as nerve-wracking as before. As long as Thousand Flash Steps was available, with Starry’s reaction speed, Charge would never land on her. Zane was absolutely certain of that.

The boss landed another normal attack on Zane.

At this time, a surge of powerful energy coursed through Starry as Autumn Strike activated!

Not only did the attack deal heavy damage, but it also successfully triggered the freezing effect. This time, Starry didn’t immediately retreat. Instead, she drove her blade directly into the center of the warlord’s skull.

The combined effect of blue Weak Point Damage and a Critical Hit resulted in an exceptionally high normal attack value. In just one sequence of attacks, they had shaved 1,500 HP off the boss!

She followed up with another strike.

The Skeleton Warlord roared in fury as it broke free from the ice. Starry, unfazed, casually climbed onto the wolf’s back and vanished into the distance.

…

Boom!

The massive warlord lost the last of its HP and collapsed onto the ground. Without hesitation, Zane and Starry both struck at the burning flame at the center of its skull.

The flame was extinguished with a whoosh, and the boss’ body disintegrated, leaving behind a pile of loot.

Flash!

At the same time, a golden light enveloped them—Starry leveled up directly to 15, while Zane reached level 14. He could now equip the Decayed Bone Armor and Decayed Bone Boots, but first, they needed to check the loot.

While the Defense and HP weren’t particularly high, this cloak’s defining feature was speed. A permanent +5% movement speed bonus, combined with +20% movement speed outside of combat, made it an absolute game-changer in PvP. Higher movement speed meant more control over engagements. With +15 Dexterity added as well, it was clear—this equipment was made for Starry.

There was also another piece of bone armor… Was it part of the Decayed Bone set?

It didn’t have any special effects, but its raw stat boosts were incredibly strong. If Starry equipped it, her damage output would increase significantly.

“I don’t want it. These bones look ugly.” Starry wrinkled her nose in distaste.

“…”

Alright then. Guess I will just hold onto it until I reach level 15.

After equipping the Decayed Bone Armor and Decayed Bone Boots, Zane’s stats saw a massive improvement.

If he had these stats earlier, he might have been able to tank the Skeleton Warlord’s attacks head-on. No doubt about it—having half a set of Rare gear was an absolute game-changer.

Meanwhile, Starry equipped the Windwalker Cloak, which automatically transformed into a flowing white dress. The fabric was so thin that it subtly traced the contours of her body, accentuating her perfect figure. Slits on both sides of the lower hem resembled those of a qipao, ensuring that it wouldn’t restrict her movements in battle.

So beautiful!

She looked just like a celestial maiden from a novel. From an outsider’s perspective, Starry was unexpectedly breathtaking. The only issue was… this outfit seemed just a tiny bit too revealing.

“Don’t look!” Starry’s face turned red.

What is there to be embarrassed about? It’s not like I haven’t already seen—

“Icy—Moon!”

I was wrong! I was wrong! Zane immediately dropped to his knees in surrender.

…

After equipping the Windwalker Cloak, Starry’s attack power skyrocketed to 220-235! And that was before she had even chosen a class. This must be the power of a full Dexterity build.

The boss also dropped five gold coins, instantly covering all their preparation expenses!

With the Skeleton Warlord defeated, a set of dimly lit stairs appeared ahead. Luckily, with the Magic Lantern, darkness wasn’t an issue.

Just as they were about to proceed to the next floor—

“Zane! Breakfast is ready! I bought you soy milk and fried dough sticks. Don’t for—” Shiu’s words suddenly cut off. “Oh my god, don’t tell me you stayed up all night!?”

“…No, I was just sleepwalking.” Zane replied calmly.

“Sleepwalking, my a̲s̲s̲! Even if you’re grinding, at least take care of your health! I left the food on the table—eat, then go get some sleep!” Shiu scolded.

“Alright.” Zane nodded.

“By the way, what level did you reach after pulling an all-nighter?”
Zane thought for a moment before deciding not to hide it. “Just hit level 14.”
“What the hell!? I barely struggled my way to level 10 yesterday, and you’re already at 14?? Are you secretly the devs’ golden child or something!?”
“Sigh, what can I say? Some people are just naturally gifted at games~”

“Damn it! I’m done talking to you—I need to log in and grind ASAP! At this rate, I won’t even be able to see your shadow anymore! Oh, right, which city did you pick? And what’s your IGN?”

“Wynwater City. My IGN is Emberveil—you should know how to spell it. But I’m currently in a special zone, so I might not be able to receive friend requests.”

“What the—there are special zones, too? How the hell are you so lucky!?” Shiu grumbled as he left the room.

After that little commotion, Zane suddenly felt the exhaustion hit him.

In the past, whenever he slept, he would simply observe Starry’s actions like a bystander. But now? He was participating. This was basically the same as not sleeping at all! He really needed to stop controlling Starry simultaneously—this was seriously affecting both of their sleep quality.

‘Starry? Let’s rest. We’ve been grinding for too long.’ Zane suggested.

“Aaaah—” Starry yawned, her tiny mouth opening as a sleepy expression spread across her face. “Good idea. Fighting that warlord was exhausting. Let’s… take a nap.”

Moments later, Starry’s consciousness faded. Seeing this, Zane logged out as well.

Fortunately, this dungeon allowed players to log out and rest. Otherwise, they would’ve been completely drained.

Before dozing off, Zane sent a message in the group chat:

After setting his phone down, his consciousness drifted into the void. For the first time in what felt like forever, Zane fell into a truly deep and restful sleep—one without dreams, where his mind was completely at peace.
