A woman lay sprawled across the counter, gazing outside with a lifeless expression. A lazy, sluggish air surrounded her entire being.

Inspect Attribute!

Mentor Sheen
Grade Mystic
Level 56
Description Sheen, who longs to fight on the battlefield, was instead assigned to work at Wynwater City’s Guidance Hall as a mentor.

“So boring—!” Sheen let out a long, exaggerated sigh, her laziness practically contagious.

“Excuse me…”

The moment she heard a voice, Sheen’s unfocused gaze snapped to attention. As if trying to shake off all her drowsiness at once, she pressed her fingers against her forehead. “Didn’t expect an adventurer to clear the trial on the very first day.”

“Hmm… Not bad. You’ve got potential,” Sheen muttered, resting her chin on her palm as she stared directly at Zane.

“Uh… I came to ask about the different class options. Is that alright?” Zane asked.

“Of course, that’s literally why I’m here,” Sheen replied matter-of-factly.

At that moment, Starry walked up beside him.

Unexpectedly, Sheen’s eyes widened in shock, her mouth slightly agape. “Unbelievable…”

“…?” Zane had no idea what had just happened.

“You, young lady—if I may ask, who are your parents?” Sheen suddenly inquired.

“…I doubt you’d know them,” Starry replied. Obviously. Her parents only existed in her dream world. There was no way an NPC in Dreamscape would know them.

“I see… My apologies. That was rude of me,” Sheen shook her head and composed herself. “Alright, kid, which class do you want to learn about?”

“All of them!” Zane said without hesitation. Honestly, he had no idea what class he wanted to play.

Starry could already be considered a frontline DPS/tank hybrid, so maybe a Priest? But that didn’t seem necessary. Her HP was so low that if a boss could actually land a hit on her, it would probably one-shot her anyway.

As a guy, Zane had always dreamed of being a main DPS. Maybe a mage or an archer would be a good fit? But swordsmen looked way cooler… Damn, this is too hard to decide.

“…” Sheen deadpanned, then silently reached behind her and pulled out a book. The title read: The Complete Class Encyclopedia.

“Here. Everything’s in the book. Read it yourself.” Sheen tossed it at him, clearly done with his nonsense.

Wait, what?! Zane hadn’t expected his own greed to backfire like this. Fine. I am exhausted after grinding all day, anyway. Might as well sit down and read while Starry handled her class change first.

Obediently, he hugged the book to his chest and took a seat in the front row.

“Alright then, young lady, what do you need to know?” Sheen asked, lacing her fingers together under her chin. This NPC had quite the personality.

“Before I ask anything, I have a letter I’d like you to look at.” Starry pulled out the Recommendation Letter from the village chief.

“Oh?” Sheen’s interest was piqued. She took the rough, crumpled envelope and examined the uneven handwriting on the surface. It didn’t affect her ability to read it at all.

As she scanned the letter, her brows furrowed. But a moment later, they relaxed again.

“I never expected something like this to happen in the He family’s village… If it hadn’t been handled properly, the consequences could’ve been disastrous,” she murmured. Then, looking back at Starry, she said, “I’ve read about your heroic deeds. You possess the bloodline of frost, yet you haven’t let its power blind you with arrogance. Instead, you’ve used it wisely and effectively. I’m certain your parents would be proud.”

“Frost Bloodline?” What the hell? Frost… Did she mean Icy Moon Slash?

“You didn’t know?” Sheen raised an eyebrow. “I can feel the latent frost power within you. It’s weak now, but it’s definitely there.”

“…I think you might be mistaken. Uh… Do you have a training dummy around here?” Starry asked.

Though unsure what she intended to do, Sheen nodded. “Of course. Follow me.”

Sheen led the way, pushing open a door. Meanwhile, Zane sat quietly, still reading his book.

“These are training dummies. Since you’re new here, you can just use this beginner-level one,” Sheen said, pointing to the leftmost dummy.

Training Dummy (Beginner-Level)
Grade Uncommon
Level 10
HP 5000
Attack 0
Defense 0
Skill Auto-Repair
Description A beginner-friendly training dummy. Incredibly durable.

“Alright, I’ll begin then.” Starry unsheathed the Autumn Moon Sword, gripping it firmly in her hand. Raising the hilt high, she assumed a slashing stance. Suddenly, a surge of power coursed through her arm—Autumn Strike!

The surrounding elemental energy condensed into frost, enveloping the blade.

“Icy Moon Slash!” Starry shouted.

BANG!

The moment her sword made contact, the dummy’s arm split in two. However, it didn’t completely break off, because the frost energy had encased the entire dummy in ice!

-20591

A staggering damage number appeared—the dummy’s HP dropped by nearly 40% in an instant!

“What?!” Sheen’s eyes widened in shock. She clearly hadn’t expected Starry to be this powerful.

“It seems… it’s not a frost bloodline after all…” Sheen murmured, her brows furrowing. “To think such a technique exists on this continent… I must have been too ignorant.” After speaking, she fell silent, deep in thought.

“Miss Sheen? Where can I find the Swordsman class mentor?” Starry asked when she noticed Sheen wasn’t responding.
“Ah! Huh? Oh—sorry, I got distracted.”
“It’s fine, don’t worry. Do you know where the Swordsman mentor is?” Starry asked again.
“Swordsman… That guy isn’t worthy of teaching you,” Sheen said flatly, as if remembering something unpleasant.

Not worthy? He absolutely is! If he isn’t, then where the hell am I supposed to learn skills from?!

“Stardust.”
“Huh? I’m here!”
“I know someone… Perhaps he is the only one qualified to teach you. However…” Sheen hesitated. “He is eccentric—impossible to predict. In his entire life, he has never taken a single student. If you truly wish to try, take this emblem. With it, he might agree to meet you.”

Ding!

System Notification: Sheen has issued an S-rank quest,
“An Audience.”
Would you like to accept it?

“…”

“Of course, I’m not forcing you,” Sheen continued. “I simply want you to have a better option. If you still prefer the Swordsman mentor, I won’t stop you.”

A hidden-class advancement quest?!

An S-rank difficulty… Thinking back to the Cave Exploration quest, if Starry hadn’t personally fought, Zane wouldn’t have survived—even if he had somehow beaten the Blood Bat King, Treka would have wiped him out right after.

But… high risk, high reward. Ordinary class options didn’t seem to suit Starry’s unique abilities anyway.

Accept!

System Notification: You have obtained Gale Emblem ×1.

System Notification: Quest accepted successfully. Target’s whereabouts unknown. Special methods may be required to locate them.

“…” Zane suddenly felt scammed.

Not even a location hint?! Where the hell am I supposed to find this guy?! What kind of b̲u̲l̲l̲s̲h̲i̲t̲ was this?

“If you happen to find some rare liquor, he might show up on his own,” Sheen added.

Great. So he’s a drunkard? What’s next, a Drunken Fist master?

Zane sighed. He never expected changing classes to be this complicated. But since he had already accepted the quest, he had no choice but to see it through.

“By the way… I don’t have to pay for the dummy, do I?” Starry asked hesitantly.

“Technically, you would have to pay for any damage…” Sheen smirked, then glanced at the frozen training dummy. “But you managed to completely freeze it. The damage isn’t too severe—just leave it alone for a while, and it’ll be fine.”

Zane finally breathed a sigh of relief.
