“It’s a long story… I am one of the Light Elves, a member of the Elven race.”

At that moment, they noticed Treka’s pointed ears, a characteristic feature of the Elven race.

“A month ago, the Queen ordered us to hunt down the traitor, Kesius. I joined the pursuit team, but… in the end, we were ambushed. It turns out Kesius had already allied himself with the Dark Faction. My team… they…”

At this point, Treka covered her face and began to sob quietly. “They were all wiped out… I used the treasure my father left behind—the Cross-Realm Stone—to escape here.”

“…What about the Blood Bats outside and the mutation in the village? How did that happen?” Zane asked.

“That’s Kesius’ doing. When the Cross-Realm Stone opened a portal, he didn’t have time to step through. Instead, he shoved Withering Heart Grass into a Blood Bat’s mouth and threw it into the portal.”

“So, that giant Blood Bat King outside?”

Treka nodded. “I was badly injured and didn’t have the strength to deal with it. I could only hide here. The unique aura of the Light Elves is something Blood Bats detest, so it doesn’t dare to come inside.”

“Will you be able to defeat it if you recover?” Endless Sea asked.

Treka fell silent for a moment before replying, “Maintaining this aura has already drained all of my energy. And I can feel it… the Blood Bat is still growing stronger…”

It seemed they couldn’t count on her for help.

“As you’ve seen, our party can’t handle that thing. With its Life Drain ability, there’s no way we can take it down with our current damage output,” Endless Sea said helplessly. He had hoped to find an ally, but it looked like they were still on their own.

“Life Drain…” Treka murmured. “I could imbue the aura of light onto you temporarily. That should prevent it from draining your blood.”

“What!?” Zane exclaimed in shock. If they could nullify the Life Drain, Starry’s agility and positioning might give them a fighting chance against the boss! It seemed there was still a sliver of hope!

“However, I can’t do it right now,” Treka added, dashing Zane’s excitement with a bucket of cold water.

“Uh… why not?” he asked.

“In order to spare enough magic to empower you, I would have to reduce the aura protecting this area. That means the aura’s range will shrink. Plus, nighttime is approaching—it’s when the Blood Bats are most active. You’ll have a better chance if you fight during the day,” Treka explained.

Night is approaching? Zane checked the time.

“Wait, it’s already past 5 PM? Did we really spend that much time here?”

“Yeah, we spent over an hour messing with those items earlier, then a lot more time killing the Blood Bats, and finally the slow exploration of the cave without a torch,” Endless Sea replied.

“…” It was later than they had realized, but since no announcements or new information had come out, it seemed the Temple Guild was also stuck.

“How long will it take for you to gather enough magic?” Zane asked Treka.

“That depends on the energy from the light. Right now, I can only absorb the magic released by these glowing minerals. It will take at least two hours,” Treka replied.

“…” Two hours wasted, just like that?

“Forget it. Let’s log off and eat. I don’t feel like grinding other monsters right now, and I don’t know if something might happen to this NPC while we’re gone,” Zane suggested.
“Alright. I’ll grab some food too. We might be pulling an all-nighter later,” Endless Sea agreed.
“Yeah, see you later. Bye.”
“Bye.”

“Shiu, coming to eat?” Zane asked, tapping him on the hand.
“No, I’m almost level 8. I just got a level 8 uncommon helmet, and I want to test it out.”
“Alright, I’ll bring you something. What do you want?”
“Hmm… Get me some braised chicken rice!”
“Got it.”

Leaning back on a small chair at the restaurant, Zane suddenly felt utterly exhausted. He hadn’t noticed while playing the game, but as soon as he logged off, an overwhelming fatigue hit him. Using Starry’s body, he had pulled off hundreds of consecutive weak-point attacks… Thinking about it now, it had been absolutely insane. Maintaining such intense focus throughout had been no small feat. When he got back, he decided he’d need a quick nap to recover.

After packing two meals and returning to his small room, Zane quickly finished eating, tidied up the table, and gave Shiu a few instructions before setting his alarm and heading to bed.

To avoid wasting time spacing out when he woke up, Zane went to sleep with his gaming helmet still on.

In the dream.

As always, he existed in Starry’s body as an observer.

Looking around at the faint glow of the surrounding area, Zane felt a bit puzzled. Where had he ended up this time? Could it be that someone had trapped him somewhere? The thought made him worry about Starry.

At that moment, he noticed someone standing in front of Starry, their back turned to her.

That figure looked familiar—the tattered cloth armor, and at the waist… a Radiant Iron Sword!??

No way! Zane wanted to rub his eyes to make sure he wasn’t imagining things, but without control over the body, all he could do was watch.

Then, the figure turned around.

It was a face full of determination, with sharp, defined features. He wasn’t particularly tall but stood a few centimeters taller than Starry. His black eyes radiated a deep, profound light, and he looked at Starry with a faint smile.

!!!

There was no doubt about it—this was Zane’s own body. But if he was inside Starry’s body, then who was this standing in front of him?

Could it be…

“This is the first time I’ve seen you up close, my other self.”

Zane realized his hand was moving on its own, reaching out to touch the face of his male body. Then, the words that came out of his mouth hit him like a bolt of lightning.

“Hehe, did I scare you?” Starry said, seemingly talking to herself.

Scared? I am practically having a heart attack!

“Is it really that serious? You’ve been playing all day. It’s my turn now,” Starry said nonchalantly.

Is this really just about taking turns? Wait… could she hear my thoughts?

“Of course I can! After all, you’re another version of me~” Starry said smugly.

…Zane was completely stunned. He didn’t know how to respond. If she could hear my thoughts, does that mean all the inappropriate things I’d thought during those times when she was bathing were also…

“I didn’t know back then, but now…”

I’m sorry! Zane swore never to let his thoughts wander again.

“Relax, I’m just teasing you. Actually, I’ve seen plenty of your baths, so let’s call it even,” Starry said with a mischievous grin.

We’re calling it even… just like that? What nonsense! What do you mean you’ve seen plenty of my baths! Zane felt like his brain was about to explode from the sheer overload of information today.

“Just like how you can observe me in dreams, I can also observe you in dreams. Your life is my life, too,” Starry said casually, as if it were no big deal.

Zane felt like he was about to break down. Didn’t this mean all his quirky habits had been exposed to Starry?

“Ahem, while some of it is indeed a bit… excessive, I did find a few parts pretty entertaining,” Starry said, her cheeks turning red.

Oh no, this is the ultimate nightmare of public humiliation! At that moment, Zane just wanted to dig a hole and crawl into it.
