“That’s about it, could you do that for us, Kanata?”
“Sure thing.”
After explaining the situation to my brother, who’d apparently been playing chess with Sakura, he agreed right away.
How nice of him… makes me proud of him as his older sibling.
“Just send me a message once you need me to pick you up again… But if it gets later than 11 pm, please stay the night there and contact me after 5 am.”
“Sounds like someone’s planning to snuggle tonight with my little sister.”
“…Yes, you’re correct with that assumption, Mika-nee. You wouldn’t want to wake her up, would you?”
After smoothly parrying Mika’s verbal jab, he motioned for us to get closer. Mika and I obviously took that as our cue to hug each other.
“I’ll be sending you off, then.”
“”Alright.””
The moment we gave our reply, our surroundings changed. No matter how often you experienced it, teleportation was incredible. The change in scenery signified that we had arrived in the Bufura Kingdom’s capital.
We were in a backstreet alley, which Kanata had likely picked so we wouldn’t cause a fuss. We were already in disguise, so we should be able to leave the alley and walk through town confidently.
“The hell!? When did these brats get here!?”
A man who could only be described as “thuggish” had appeared behind us.
Right, unlike in the Mephilad Kingdom, where we could conveniently throw all the criminals into jail during that temporary case of mass-death, the backstreets in the Bufura Kingdom weren’t safe. That part slipped my mind. Even disguised, Mika and I looked like pretty girls.
Oh, no, we’re in danger!
“Man, look at ’em more closely. They’re super pretty.”
“Oh-ho, ain’t that the truth.”
Even more men closed in. Including Mika and me, there were six people in the narrow alley. It was rather suffocating.
“Guess we gotta catch ’em and sell ’em off.”
“Nah, man, let’s use ’em first. With how pretty they are, going a few rounds with us probably won’t decrease their value.”
“Huh… I mean to start with, they’re wearin’ some pricey stuff.”
They kept staring at us. It might’ve just been for form’s sake, but I stepped in front to protect Mika. Well, it didn’t look as if she was concerned about such a small matter.
“Well then… this’ll hurt a bit, but you gotta put up with that.”
The man who’d discovered us at the beginning pulled out a knife. It made me wonder if these guys were complete idiots, after going back and forth about our “value”.
“Man, catch ’em with your hands! They’ll be worth less if they have wounds.”
“Oops, my bad.” He put away the knife.
This situation reminded me of when Uruto came to my rescue. A lot had changed since back then. I gave an internal chuckle.
“Oy, what’s with the grin?”
“Oops, my bad.”
Apparently, my amusement had been noticed.
“Gah… whatever. Just catch ’em!”
The man in front came towards us and tried to put his arms around Mika and me. I took advantage of that to get close and personal to him to deliver a kick that would be just shy of killing him. He was blown away in a nice, straight line.
“…Wha-?”
From our attackers’ perspective, it must’ve looked as if it happened in an instant. They seemed stunned as their friend (or accomplice) flew away.
“H-Huh~!? She sent him flyin’!?”
“That brat kicked a large adult away… don’t tell me she got high stats!?”
“You might be right, man! We gotta bolt!”
Instead of going after us, they quickly turned to flee. It was a much smarter course of action than to assume they were mistaken and doubling down on the assault.
“It’s been a long time since something like this happened.”
“It might’ve gone differently if we weren’t in disguise,” Mika replied.
We immediately left the backstreet alley. For the public order to be this bad so close to the main street… I should tell King Rama to do something about that later. Maybe I could create devices to improve public safety and hand those to them.
“Alright, let’s go!”
“Yeah!”
We held hands. I was thinking of parading through town, as if on a date.
I had heard that this place was famous for spices, and they got more sunlight, so many people showed a tan. The houses were also typical for that kind of climate.
“Somehow, it feels like we’re in India.”
“I get what you mean.”
This wasn’t Earth, but the scenery resembled the pictures of India you often saw on TV. It made me want to eat curry rice.
Well, rice hadn’t been a thing in this world until I introduced it, and they didn’t have curry either1. Though maybe they had something like naan.
“Here we are. King Rama’s palace.”
“Right.”
At the very center, towering over everything else, stood a palace with a round roof.
Huh, it’s quite sparkly. Different from the Mephilad Kingdom’s western-style castle.
We soon arrived at its gates.
Now to get inside.

- You’d think with an otherworlder every decade or so on average, someone would’ve introduced it at this point.
