“Good morning.”
“Morning, Rir!”
At school, Rir and Mika greeted each other like good friends.
Come to think of it, I wonder what they talked about when they met yesterday. I’m curious… but it’s probably safe to say that some was about us.
“So… how did it go afterwards?”
“Woof, still no change. Though I managed to get him to let me sleep next to him in his bed at night.
“Well, over there, you’re sleeping in the same bed all the time, so you can’t exactly call this progress…”
“Woof.”
It sounded like Shuu had featured heavily in their talk yesterday. He was currently talking with Yamagami, so he probably didn’t hear what they just said.
“What did you talk about yesterday?
I decided to just nonchalantly ask them. But Mika merely puffed out her cheeks as she often did, when she was unhappy with me. Meaning, she wouldn’t tell me anything.
“Please don’t puff out your cheeks,” I told her, before poking them, forcing her to expel the air.
“Mph…”
At school… or rather, in front of others, we regularly acted like this, so people saw us as a sickeningly sweet couple, though I didn’t mind that.
Rir gave an amused chuckle at the sight and then continued.
“Woof~! As a matter of fact, he promised to go on another date with me this week.”
Now that she mentioned it, they were on a date last week. It completely slipped my mind, but it was only the day before yesterday in this world, when Mika and I became adults here. Shocking. It felt like more than two weeks had passed since then… which wasn’t exactly wrong.
“Where will you go?” Mika asked her.
“To a game arcade.”
“A game arcade…?”
You’d think there would be other, more standard date spots in the area. Like the amusement park, the aquarium, or the zoo. Well, rather than that, there was one thing I was curious about.
“Does that work for Shuu? Isn’t the intra scholastic tournament in a few weeks?”
“I asked him the same question, but he replied, ‘I have three times as much time as a normal person, so it’ll work out’.”
True enough, he could train in Anazumu. He could also use the item creation machine I gave him to make something like a robot to serve as a training partner. Additionally, we had magic rooms that sped up time, so it wasn’t just three times as much.
“That makes sense, I hope you’ll have fun.”
“I will! Oh… Mika.”
“What is it?”
Rir beckoned Mika over and whispered something into her ear. A short time later, Mika replied with a “That’s great! Keep at it seducing him.” I had no idea what this was about, but it sounded like things were going fine.
“Oh, Ali, Mika, Rir, there you are!”
“Huh? Did something happen, Sana?” Mika asked.
Sanada, our resident news specialist, came over to us. Usually when she approached us like this, she either had a scoop or was trying to confirm a piece of gossip.
I wonder which one it is today.
“I just got my hand on some great news!”
“What happened?”
“Y-You won’t believe it! In two weeks, the Love Long Circus will be coming to town and perform!”
“Really!?”
Is that actually such great news? I expected it would take years until my reunion with Mr. Mitsuo. Didn’t this happen way too fast1?
“It’s true! Right now, they’re in the middle of setting up the tent in the adjacent town!”
“The Love Long Circus, huh…?”
“You know about it, Rir?”
“Only from my memories… Since it’s one of the four biggest circuses in the world2.”
To think she had even been provided with such details. Did that circus also hold performances in Norway?
“You three are the very first people I told, you know? Though I am planning to tell everyone else soon. I mean, you guys make up this school’s best-known couples… Going there would be perfect for a date, wouldn’t it?”
“Woof…! Thank you so much for telling us!”
“Thank you~!”
It was nice that she thought about us.
This was the third time the Love Long Circus came to this town. The first time had been before I was born. The second, when Mika and I had been seven or eight years old. And the third time was now.
“According to past performances, tickets will be 2800 yen if you book in advance, and 3200 on the day of the performance.”
“That should be something Ayumu and I can afford.”
“Yeah, it should work for Shuu and me, too. I’ll ask him later.”
A 2800-yen entry fee… well, that was normal enough.
Assuming we went there, Saturday or Sunday would work best. If Kanata and Sakura joined us, we’d be a group of six… though it was also possible to go there separately as three groups of two. It was a rare occasion, so going there with the six of us might be better.
“How nice… I wish I also had a boyfriend. Someone to go with me to watch the circus… Hah, guess I’ll have to go there with my family.”
“You’ll be fine, Sana, you’re cute.”
“…That’s not much consolation coming from you, Mika.”
Well, if you asked me, she was among the better-looking girls. But saying that might come back to bite me, so I kept my mouth shut.
“Oh, whatever! I’ve got people to inform!”
With regained enthusiasm, Sanada charged off toward where the rest of our classmates were chatting.
In any case, it was good information. I look forward to reuniting with Mr. Mitsuo. Heh-heh-heh.
Footnotes:
- If Mephistophales had actually arrived more than two months before this point, that would have been ample time to find Alim on Earth and shift the performance schedule to facilitate a meeting.
- Now it suddenly went from “somewhat well known” to “one of the four biggest in the world”? In that case, how was the disappearance of the manager not a big thing in the news?
