Heh-heh-heh, that was nice. It looks like my part was a huge success! Only I could pull off teleporting a whole church to a different location and giving a performance there!
Well, Kanata might.

“That was Alim Nariwei. To close, some words of gratitude from the bride and groom.”

Since my performance was the last, this wrapped up the celebration in the church. Urged by the archbishop, Uruto and Parasuna rose.

“I want to take this chance to sincerely thank everyone who came here from near and far to bear witness to our wedding,” Uruto said, as he bowed his head quite deeply.

Any guests who stayed at his inn before knew that this was quite different from usual. You might attribute it to nervousness.

“In the same vein, we are profoundly grateful to the representatives from the many countries who came to congratulate us. While this was not our intention, we also received the honor of forming the ‘first marriage between two fellow SSS-Rankers in Anazumu'”.

I assumed that Mika and I would be the next such couple. Most likely. Almost certainly.

Uruto took the waiting megaphone with one hand and turned back into his Lastman outfit.

“I USUALLY… work in this appearance. Today, many of you likely saw how I look under the costume for the first time, and just as many learned here that Parasuna is a rabbitkin.”

As a matter of fact, I kept wondering whether there would be a representative of a country whose bearing would change completely once she revealed her true race. But that never happened.

On second thought, Lastman was known for being the foremost liberator of slaves. So, someone supporting slavery likely wouldn’t have shown their face at this wedding. In other words, almost everyone at the venue was at least somewhat considering how to do away with slavery.

“The reason I declared the liberation of all slaves two years ago… was entirely for Parasuna’s sake. Many think I did it out of righteousness, but it was all for her,” Uruto raised his voice as he spoke into the megaphone and continued talking about his past. “To deal with the former SSS-Rank adventurer turned slaver, Parasuna and I grew stronger side by side, until we reached SSS-Rank. Then, we gained the support of many and made our dearest wish a reality.”

Either since she reminisced too, as she stood next to him, or since she felt embarrassed by his story, Parasuna’s cheeks were tinged red. Indeed, it was the face of someone in love.

“And today, another of our wishes came true. This also was possible thanks to the support of many. I truly… sincerely thank you all.”

Uruto gave another deep bow. It wasn’t just on the physical side, you could feel his sincerity in your heart. He made it look as if he could deal with anything… In fact, he was an SSS-Ranker, managed an inn, and even shrugged off the skill of an evil god which killed anyone else… Such a man was he. And even he only managed to attain happiness through hardship and the support of many others.

It somehow felt as if I resonated with him. As for hardship… I couldn’t pretend there had been much, but I was the same in being supported by many.

“Finally… all the people who joined us here, everyone, I truly thank you!”
“Thank you ever so much!”

The two of them… especially Uruto, thanked everyone for the umpteenth time. Applause rained down on them. It was probably thanks to who they were that people celebrated their marriage to this extent.

“May the two of you find perpetual happiness… The bride and groom shall now leave the venue. Afterwards, they will take part in a parade. A parade around Mephilad’s royal capital.

Together with the archbishop’s announcement, I started the background music I had prepared. Uruto, the groom, and Parasuna, the bride, linked arms and walked down the wedding aisle, showered by thundering applause.

The last Parade was held by the Mephilad Kingdom. In the end, most of the things now were organized by me, not the country, which is kinda incredible, too.

When the couple was about to exit the venue, they stopped in front of the door to look back to the guests, bowing once more before leaving. The door to the church, which had served as the venue1, slowly closed.

“With this, the wedding and celebration have come to an end.”

This meant the ceremony was over. The next moment, all the guests stood up and got ready to head home… or rather, they probably got ready to watch the parade.

“What do you think?” I asked Mika.

Whether it was about the decorations or my performance, I’d be happy to hear her impressions.

“Hm? Yeah, I want to get married… those are my thoughts.”
“Well, that wish will probably come true less than ten years from now.”

I also wanted to get married. And I obviously knew to whom. That would only be a question of time.

“Then, what did you think about the stuff I prepared here?”
“It was wonderful! I also want to have a wedding like this… Oh, come on, won’t the parade start any moment? I heard they’ll throw the bouquet before they board the carriage, so we gotta get there fast!”
“You’re right.”

Mika and I plus the other two couples from our household left the venue.

Footnotes:

  1. I kept wondering if I had missed something or the author forgot to put on the transition from having the wedding in the church to the meal and celebration somewhere else, preferably outside with lots of room, but no. Apparently everything, even the performance where someone casually summoned tens of thousands of human-sized minions, happened in the church itself.
