After eating in the restaurant, the two bought plastic pufferfish straps (a set of two for couples) as a memento of the day and then left the aquarium. Then, due to one of their objectives, they returned to the metro station.

“W-We’re really going shopping?”
“Yup. For clothes that look good on you. It’s a present from me, so let’s look both in the shops in the metro station and the department store.”
“Do you have enough money?”
“Please don’t worry about that. It’ll be fine.”

Sakura still gave him a worried glance. However, in a rare show for him, Kanata ignored her gaze. In the end, the two of them ended up going to the department store from the station.

“We have been here several times, haven’t we? We could stop at a café later and have some sweets.”

Although she realized in some corner of her mind that Kanata planned to treat her to that too, Sakura still gave an excited reply, due to, ultimately, not being able to resist sweets.

With linked hands once more, after using several escalators, they finally arrived at a floor where women’s clothing stores, shoe stores, accessory stores, and such were lined up.

“Let’s do our shopping here first. As for shoes… the ones you have currently seem fine.”
“Y-Yeah. I got them from Dad for my birthday.”

From how happily she smiled, he could see that she truly likes the pair of red shoes she was currently wearing.

“What about accessories? Bracelets and rings might work, though earrings would be out of the question since you’d need to pierce holes for these…”

Both came to that conclusion, as they thought about Brisingamen, which Sakura usually wore in Anazumu.

“Then let’s visit an actual clothing store. Since we’re not going to buy underwear for you…”
“Y-You idiot!!”

It had been some time since she last called him that. The word “underwear” had triggered her.

“W-We obviously can’t go buying underwear together! That’s not something I’m going to show you!”
“Ah-ha-ha. That’s true.”

The boy smoothly sidestepped the issue and then pulled the girl along by her arm into a nice-looking store.

“Alright, choose whatever you want.”
“Eh… okay…”
“I guess that’s a hard ask, so should we pick something together?” asked Kanata, who had inconspicuously studied up on how to coordinate clothes in Anazumu.
“P-Please.”
“Heh-heh, you can count on me.”

Then, the two of them started to choose some clothes. Shortly later, Sakura was holding two sets which caught her eye in front of Kanata.

“Wh-Which of those would suit me better?”

The two sets had been chosen under the assumption that it would be winter soon. However, both looked plain and not like what they had been going for with this time’s shopping trip. Their prizes were also on the reasonable end.

“Hm~… We went shopping today because you only have clothes like these… I also picked something while you were looking around, would you like to see it?”
“I-I guess.”

Sakura brought the clothes she’d been carrying back to where she found them and looked at the set Kanata had chosen.

“What do you think?”
“I-It’s cute. Still… would something like this suit-”
“I’m sure it will. What about those you have in Anazumu?”
“Even if you ask me that… If you really think it’ll look good on me…”
“That’s why I picked it. It should be your size. Could you try it on?”

Persuading herself since he had told her so, she went to a dressing room to get changed. While at it, she checked the price tag. Still shocked by the amount, she left the changing booth while thinking about how to complain to Kanata.

“How does it look?” she asked.
“Awfully cute…!”
“Th-Thank you.” The boy’s heartfelt admiration caused her cheeks to turn red. However, after breathing a small sigh, she continued. “Still, that whole set costs a total of 19’000 yen, you know?”
“It does. What about it?”
“…Are you really going to buy that for me?”

Hearing her ask that, the boy’s eyes went round for moment, before he smiled and nodded.

“I can afford it.”
“…You’ll go and buy it for me, just like back then? Still, I’m sorry.” Sakura breathed along sigh. “Even though you wouldn’t need to buy things for me to love you… here you go and-”
“Hm? I know that.”

He said it so matter-of-factly, as if it wasn’t a big deal at all.

“Y-You do?”
“Yep. The reason I’m buying things for you isn’t so you’ll like me more. I want to see you happy and look even cuter, so I buy the things I feel are needed for that… In other words, they are necessary expenses.”

Those words caused her to blush the fiercest she had done all day, and she hurriedly hid in the booth to change back into her normal clothes. Then, still blushing, she left the booth and foisted the clothes she’d just been wearing onto the boy.

“…Kanata, if you say that you do it because you want to… th-then I guess it can’t be helped.”
