“Haaaaaah!!”
Lilo’s shout was full of spirit. The Rainbow Emperor Dog retreated to dodge the magic circle that had appeared, but…
“Thunder Emission!”
…Karua’s magic circle was awaiting it.
The beast reacted quickly and avoided it, as if it was flying. However, where it fled to, a wave, caused by the Matchless Water spell Myuri had cast, surged towards it. This time, the dog didn’t manage to evade and was swept along.
The place where the wave dropped it at was where the beast had been originally, the very same place where Lilo’s magic circle was waiting.
“Goooooo!”
S-Rank magic burst violently. Explosives winds clad in light assaulted the dog.
“Did that do it?” Lilo wondered.
“No… it’s still alive!” Ruin exclaimed. “Let’s go, Orgo!”
“Right!”
The two swordsmen fired sword techniques at the Rainbow Emperor Dog. The beast couldn’t dodge and was struck cleanly.
“I’ll keep up the pressure. Matchless Dark!”
I didn’t know when he had learned that skill, but Tuhl followed up on the swordsmen’s attacks with Darkness Magic of the highest grade.
“Gah… Graaaaaaah!!”
Even now, the enemy still wasn’t dead. It was S-Rank, after all.
It turned towards Ruin, who was closest to it, and jumped at him, regardless of its ragged state.
“Too bad for you!”
Lilo cast magic again while Ruin skillfully fended off the dog’s claws with his sword. Finally, the magic was invoked. This time, the beast was launched into the air by an assault of highest-grade Ice Magic. And, at the same time, the ground was frozen, denying the falling foe a safe landing.
“One more time…! Haaaaaaaa!”
During that opening, Lilo cast her S-Rank magic once more. Another fiery storm formed.
Before long, the dirt blown up by the gale settled. On the other side was the corpse of the Rainbow Emperor Dog and seven A-Rank magic cores.
“Woo-hoo…! Aw, it was a deteriorated specimen,” Lilo commented with slight disappointment.
“Even so, that’s still stronger than an A-Rank subspecies. You did well,” I tried to console her.
“Yeah, if you say so… it must be true! Phew… this tired me out, after all,” she muttered as she leaned forward, propping herself up with her staff. “I still have a bit of MP left but… could we take a break?”
“You’re right. We made it to the end to the dungeon, so this is a good point to take a small break.”

After the break.
“Level 130!?” Orgo shouted when he looked at his status screen.
That level would put them around S-Rank. There was still some way to go until SS-Rank, but they’d already gotten so far…
“While it depends on your skill set, you should be at the point where you can defeat an S-Rank enemy solo…”
“If you say so… Normally, you’d have to spend days defeating A-Rank magic beasts…” Ruin commented.
Indeed, and the higher your rank, the less magic beasts of an appropriate rank you’d find in the wild.
For example… defeating three S-Rank magic beasts would get you from A- to S-Rank. But, realistically speaking, people at A-Rank wouldn’t manage to win against S-Rank monsters… so they’d have to defeat a total of 30 A-Rank enemies, a rather difficult endeavor.
“In that case, I assume you have tons of skill points. Who is going to learn a Secret Sword Technique skill? We have six S-Rank magic cores, so two people can learn it,” I broached the topic.
“You mean who would be best to learn it?”
“Indeed.”
Tuhl, who had spoken up, held his chin for a while, as if in thought, before opening his mouth again.
“At this point, I think it should be Ruin and Orgo.”
“I agree! Dear Brother and Orgo ought to be first!”
The two people in question looked at each other.
“Are you fine with that?” Ruin asked.
“Guess so,” Orgo replied.
“I-In that case…”
Ruin and Orgo each accepted three S-Rank magic cores from Karua.
The former suddenly looked my way.
“…What is the best way to create Secret Sword Techniques?”
“I know how to make the Secret Prison Sword Technique, but we shouldn’t both make the same skill, right?” Orgo added.
What, they want to consult with me? Heh-heh, in that case, let me give them some advice.
“Creating Secret Weapon Skills is a haphazard affair. If you keep trying combinations of any skills you have in any order, with Great Swordsmanship as the basis, you should get one.”
“Y-You can do it like that…?” Orgo asked in confusion. “My father said, ‘For Secret Prison Sword Technique, you first need the Smithing skill!’… that’s how he explained it.”
“It’s not that clear cut. It’s haphazard. Unreliable. For now, please try it like I said.”
“A-Alright,” Ruin agreed.
The two of them grabbed the magic cores and closed their eyes. Several minutes later, they opened them again.
“…What did you get?”
“I synthesized Secret Imperial Sword Technique,” Ruin announced.
“I ended up with Secret Prison Sword Technique, after all…” Orgo said.
Such were the results. It looked like they had also fully allocated points.
…That should make the next round much easier.
TL notes:
I do like that we get to see how a normal group would fight the boss Alim struggled so much with. It’s a nice touch that it still has its characteristic of being very good at dodging magic, which is used against it here, just like Alim did during the end of the boss fight in chapter 22.
