[You have entered Tria Erial Mountains’ dungeon “Joy”.]

The usual message appeared in my mind. However, the six, who entered a dungeon for the first time, showed different reactions.

“Oh… wow! So, this is a dungeon…!!”
“Incredible, absolutely incredible! It really looks artificial!”

Orgo got excited when he heard what Rose called “the voice of mother dungeon”, while Lilo glanced around the path made of green bricks. Myuri had her hand folded as if in prayer, and was murmuring something.

“Amazing, isn’t it…?”
“As they say, a picture says more than a thousand words.”
“Indeed, Dear Brother Ruin…!”

The surprised reactions of the Mephilad siblings resembled each other.

“It’s awfully astonishing, no?” Tuhl commented.
“Mika was like that at the beginning, too. Me also, obviously.”

Seeing this was training, Mika and I were currently at the tail end of our formation.

“…Hm.” The line came to a stop at Orgo’s murmur.
“Is something wrong?” Iasked.
“There are magic beasts…”

At those words, the previously carefree mood of all six trainees changed, and they readied their weapons. Although, likely since this was her first real battle, Karua seemed somewhat bewildered.

“…What should we do, Alim?” Orgo asked.
“Hrm… Can you see what kind of magic beasts they are?”
“They’re… D-Rank Mud Hands, I think… two of ’em.”

Mud Hands were lumps of earth shaped like a hand, about 1.5 meters tall. Their main attack was flinging Land Balls. They were rather easy opponents.

“Then, please defeat those two with as little effort as possible.”
“If it’s about efficiency… it’s my turn!” Lilo exclaimed as she stepped forward. “Myuri, support magic, please!”
“Yes!”

Myuri cast what was likely spellpower and quickness strengthening magic on Lilo. Probably knowing what she was about to do, Ruin and Orgo nodded at each other before stepping in front to shield Lilo. Then, they advanced in that formation. They faced off with the two Mud Hands.

“Ha-ha-heh-heh… eat this! Fire Emission!!”

Fire Emission magic circles appeared… Four of them at once.
I see, it looks like Lilo has maxed our Advanced Fire Magic1. That’s reassuring.

Just like I had demonstrated during my first dungeon exploration, the Mud Hands were burned to a crisp – helpless against the consecutive spells – before dropping two D-Rank magic cores.

“Woah, what in the…!” Karua yelled the moment that happened. “I… I gained so many levels…!”

Indeed. If someone at level 1 earned the experience points from two D-Rank magic beasts, it would immediately put them around level 9. This was likely an incredible experience for Karua, who hadn’t raised her level at all so far.

“My level also rose by one!” Myuri said.
“Same here!” Lilo added.
“Me, too,” Orgo confirmed.
“Same for me,” Ruin joined in.
“I also leveled up,” Tuhl commented.

It looked like everyone had leveled up. Maybe enemies in Joy dungeons gave more exp than normal.

“Then, let’s advance further,” I urged them on.
“Right!” Orgo replied from the vanguard.

They seemed to be quite enthusiastic. However, the next group of magic beasts they encountered immediately put a downer on that.

“Two… two Mud Hands and a Wood Golem…! Plus, a Child Dragon!?”

The voice sounded shocked. And it came from the usually calm Ruin.

…Indeed, it had just been the first dungeon I found that was so abnormally forgiving, normal dungeons immediately raised the stakes. Being shocked was unavoidable.

“What… what do we do? Can we do it?”
“Still, you guys defeated a C-Rank magic beast, didn’t you? Can’t you manage that group?”
“Hm~… that one was on its own…”

We stopped just barely out of range where our foes would attack, and discussed things.
Still, this is training. I have to get them to try it.

“I don’t think it’s impossible! C-Rank magic beasts are about as strong as seven to ten D-Rank foes! You’ll be fine! Come now, Mika and I are also here.”
“I guess that’s true! Alright, let’s do it! Myuri, Lilo, can you still use magic?” Ruin asked them in a very leader-like fashion.

Lilo gave a nod. “I’m still good!”
“The same goes for me!” Myuri confirmed.
“Guess we can go on,” Orgo mused.

“Let me participate, too…” Tuhl wedged his way into the four enthusiastic youths’ conversation. “I reached the equivalent of D-Rank after the earlier fight. I haven’t allocated my stats yet, but… it should work out.”
“Understood. Then, Myuri, please buff us sword fighters with attack power and quickness, and Lilo with spellpower.”
“Alright!”

Myuri cast as much support magic as she could. She was probably the MVP at this point.

Footnotes:

  1. The original is “True Fire Magic”, but that would teach her Fire Cannon, not Emission, so I assume it’s an error.
