After chatting happily with Mika, it became evening, and our parents returned. When that happened, she went back to her own room. Afterwards, I made full use of my skills to cook a super-high-quality dinner and serve it to my parents.

When we were on Earth, some skills could be used, while others couldn’t.

First, none of the SK1 skills worked¹. Second, it looked like some SK2 skills could be used and some couldn’t. For example, while Kanata’s Styra-something teleportation couldn’t be used, some parts of Item Master could… apparently. First among those was Cooking.

But Kanata said that it would be better to think of those skills as inferior versions with limitations compared to how they were in the other world.

Our parents’ impression of my cooking was “way too amazing”. Though I didn’t know if they meant the taste or the appearance with that, I considered it rave reviews for the Omurice with hashed beef sauce I made.

After that, I used our bath and lay in my own bed for the first time in ages, and fell asleep, feeling slightly lonely since there was no one next to me.

It was the following day at 6:30 am. I got up and changed into my school uniform.

«So, is now a good time?» I sent to everyone’s phones, and after receiving their affirmative replies, I used the “Return to Anazumu” option on my Status Screen.

The loading screen I had seen before appeared.

I opened my eyes. Mika, Shuu, Kanata, and Sakura opened their eyes at practically the same moment.

We were… in my well-known mansion. Mika and I had shrunk and our hair- and eye-colors were different. My gender also had changed. It looked like we had returned without incident.

“Woof…? You’re not leaving?”

I turned towards the voice. There, I could see a girl with dog ears and a dog tail… pardon, I mean wolf ears and a wolf tail, looking at as anxiously with her head inclined.

“Rir… we got back right now,” Shuu replied.
“Woof…? Woof~!? I just wished you a good trip a few seconds ago…!”

Judging from her reaction, it really had just been an instant.

“R-Right. Rir… it’s been a day for us.”
“It’s been a day…? A whole day? Woof?”

She wrinkled her brow with her head inclined, as if there were question marks floating over her head. Shuu, the lucky dog he was, patted her head with a smile.

“It somewhat doesn’t feel as if you even left…”
“That’s how that function works, so it can’t be helped.”

She nuzzled her body against Shuu’s while he was stroking her head, as if that was the most natural thing, though she still looked confused.

“Woof~… woof. Right, I have a question. How did it go in the other world?” Rir asked as she enjoyed herself by rubbing the back of her head against Shuu’s chest. “Weren’t your parents worried? As far as you told me, Alim and Mika are dead on Erf, aren’t they? How did that work?”
“For some reason, Time was wound back to the point when we hadn’t died yet,” I explained. “All our parents kept their memories. They were incredibly happy that we came back.”
“Woof. Children are important to parents, after all! That’s great…” she commented with a smile.

I see… she no longer has her own parents.

Shuu frowned for a moment and hugged her from behind. This seemed to confuse her again.

“Woof~? Eh-heh-heh… woof. Incidentally, how was school? That’s the part I’m most curious about! Studying surrounded by lots of classmates…! This has to be so much fun~.”
“Sorry, we didn’t go there this time. We couldn’t risk Alim dyin’ again if she went out on that day.”

Rir murmured an “I see”.

At any case, for her to think that studying was fun… I didn’t know Rir’s personal circumstances, but I didn’t think it was exciting as she imagined. Although if you were the type to easily surpass people who studied normally without putting in much effort, like Kanata, it might be fun.

“Ugh~. I’ll absolutely go to that world! I want to go to school! This might sound presumptuous, but I want to go to the same school as you, Shuu! Woof~… I’d like to have more friends my age~!”

Her murmur in a small voice made clear just how much she desired that.

Our school plainly demanded high mental abilities (it was a combined middle- and high-school, but you could join at the high-school stage. Kanata and Sakura were in the middle-school part), so she might have trouble keeping up… and I could see various other issues.

“I’m sure you can. We got some dungeons from the king, so let’s go level up right now.”
“Woof. I’ll do my best!” She replied, still in Shuu’s embrace.
