“…With this whole affair over, we will leave this country. Effective immediately.”
Mika and I hurried into the room where Kanata and the other were informing the officials and discussing things.
We were welcomed by the scene of my younger brother matter-of-factly stating his reasons, silencing the country’s remaining big shots, who should’ve been adults with ample experience. Shuu stood next to him, exuding an air of intimidation by putting his muscular body on show. Overlooking that scene, Sakura and Rir waited close to the wall, with Rir looking as if she could make neither heads nor tails of what was happening, and Sakura intently observing Kanata’s actions with an expression like someone longingly watching an idol.
…Not an easy situation to intrude into.
“B-But that will cause issues.”
“What sort of issues exactly? As I told you earlier-”
Kanata argued down anything they shot at him.
He gave us a light beckoning gesture, likely since he had noticed us while they were talking. Mika and I hesitantly went to them.
Yep, definitely not an easy situation to intrude into.
When we arrived at their side, Shuu looked at us intently. Kanata, on the other hand, didn’t seem to take notice of us, his gaze never straying from the officials. But at the same time, he pointed his hand at us. It might have felt sudden to me, but it was likely that he had steered the conversation towards things concerning us.
“…There should be no issues, right? Those two… the champions of the Mephilad Kingdom were the one’s who struck down the Black God. I merely dealt the finishing blow. Everything else was them. Consequently-”

Before we knew it, the information-slash-discussion session had ended unilaterally in Kanata’s favor. Although the talks had gone on for around two more hours after we’d joined.
Result-wise, Kanata… or rather, Kanata and the others obtained the “right to leave the country” through a mere debate. Additionally, they announced that they’d prepare to leave on this very day. Although I was the older brother, I proved unable to follow what was being said.
I couldn’t tell you the exact words, but to sum it up in a less smart way than Kanata, it boiled down to “Since he himself broke several of his promises, we are not interested in what will happen to this country after the king is gone. We fulfilled the terms of our agreement, so we should be allowed to live as we please.”
And.
“Thanks to Rir making a Proof of Loyalty, a widely known practice of the wolfkin, we were able to resurrect her with Sakura’s magic, but since there are no remains of the king, this won’t be possible for him.”
After it ended in that manner, Kanata and the others went to tie up lose end before arriving at the room where we were waiting at.
“Well, Big Sis1. I think the people of this country will manage on their own from now on,” Kanata cheerfully informed us. “I’d like to leave quickly. Seeing I wanted to finish things today, I asked them to keep things quiet about you and Mika-nee. Though I’m not sure about the rest of this country… By the way.”
While I wasn’t as bright as him, I could guess what he was about to say next, so I gave him a nod before replying.
“You can come with us, to our country. All of you, obviously. Rir won’t be facing discrimination in the Mephilad Kingdom, and we already received permission from the king.
“As expected of you, Big B-… Sis! Thank you!”
“T-Thank you, Ayu… Ali-nee!”
Kanata smiled as he spoke. He didn’t have a habit of cross-dressing like I did, and he was a proper boy at heart, so he probably wouldn’t like it if I called him cute, but… he did have a lovely face.
“…Sorry for the trouble, Ayu-… Alim,” Shuu added.
“Woof, is that really okay?”
“Yep, it’s all good! We also have a place for you to stay, so there are no issues on our side.”
“Sorry again,” Shuu apologized once more.
“Don’t worry about it.”
I don’t need a reason to help out my best friend! Why, when we reminisce about that in the future, we will probably laugh about it.
“Did you already give your farewells to the people who took care of you here?”
“We finished that earlier, didn’t we?”
“Yeah!” Sakura agreed with Kanata’s statement.
I see, so there were also nice people in a country like this.
“…Then, did you cancel the contracts at the place you were staying and tidied up?”
“Shuu and I took care of that quickly by using my teleportation. There’s nothing left for us in this country.”
To verify everyone agreed with that, I looked at all of them, but it seemed like they all agreed. There was not even a hint of regret in their eyes.
“Understood. Let’s go to the Mephilad Kingdom, then. Can you teleport us, Kanata?”
“Yep, I can. Alright… everyone, hold out your hands.”
Kanata was the first to hold his out. The five of us all piled our hands on top of it. The ability to teleport everything he was touching at once, was a rather convenient part of his skill.
“Alright… off we go!”
Mika and I left Yggdrasil, the country of the holy tree, and returned to the Mephilad Kingdom together with our younger siblings, our best friend, and said best friend’s girlfriend.
Outside, it was already growing dark.
TL notes:
This whole chapter feels very Japanese. At this point, the protagonists pretty much have godlike powers, one of them teleportation which cannot be stopped by anything less than the secret ability of an evil deity (and the hereditary skill of a family that is now extinct). If they wanted to leave, there’d literally be no one able to stop them.
But they still go through the proper channels to get permission, even though this involves a lot more work.
Edit, since I forgot to add this: Also, did everyone just forget about Dace? She was clearly involved in the whole plot and got away, so shouldn’t people be concerned about her?
