From the magic circle, a continuous stream of fireballs that could only be called grand blazes emerged. They easily surpassed our height. Still, I could feel that he had kept their size low to increase the power.

Kanata stood in front of us, as if to protect us. The fireballs closed in on us. Trying to hit us with chantless spells was probably the Black God’s style.

There was the snap of a finger, which seemed to echo. A fiery beam was unleashed from the magic circle, big enough to swallow the whole island. Kanata, still with his hand held out towards us, looked startled.

I guess this is the point for Big Bro to show off?

I took out my favorite divine grade sword from my magic bag.

“Hey, Kanata. Your highest stat is at 700’000, right? Sakura told us so… But, you see, our stats are capped out.”

I leaped up towards the fiery beam. With my sword raised up high.

“Capped… out?”
“Exactly, we’re at the stat cap. They max out at 999’999, you see?” Mika explained with another smug look. “You probably didn’t know that, Sakura! Eh-heh-heh~.”

Sakura was shocked once more, while Kanata seemed unable to make heads or tails of the situation. He was so smart, so couldn’t he immediately understand what was going on?

My sword finally touched the fiery beam. And all the fire was sucked into the sword. This was the magic absorption I was using for the first time in ages.

Kanata seemed to be having even more trouble keeping up with what was happening, as he saw the magic gradually being sucked into the sword. Although the Black God’s grin gave me a bad feeling. Once all the flames had been absorbed, I landed next to my brother.

“I’m the Level-Up Fiend, so that’s the least I can do!” I told him.

TL notes:
Kanata might seem overprotective and condescending here, but from his perspective Alim and Mika are two random 12-year-olds who are, at best, at the level cap, so it does make sense for him to immediately try to send them back. Of course, Alim then wastes no time to show just how OP he is.
