“”Huh…!?””

Mika and I stiffened as we heard that.
Did our ears just play a trick on us?

“Oh… uhm, you said the names of the sages are… Kanata… Sakura… and finally, Shuu… right?” Mika asked the king in a trembling voice. “I-Is that correct?”
“Hm? Yes, it is.”

So, we didn’t hear it wrong… well, it could still be mere coincidence. The names Sakura and Shuu aren’t that uncommon. As for Kanata… yep.

“Are… are Kanata and Sakura 14 years old, and the one called Shuu 17…?” I asked, just to make sure.
“I have this information. You are correct, how did you know?”

Mika and I looked at each other.
…Is this for real? How can that even be? Why would they have come to this world? Did they end up dying like Mika and I…? Oh, I’m pretty sure he said they were summoned.

“Judging from your reaction, do you know these sages? How in the world could you-” the king asked.

That’s right, we don’t have the time to be shocked here. To think that Kanata, Sakura, and Shuu would be summoned to this world and are currently fighting an evil god…

We quickly need to get to them. There’s no time to waste…!!

Kanata, my little brother had quite a good head on his shoulders, so I wasn’t worried much about him. While I wasn’t so sure about Shuu, he’d likely be fine. The one I was worried about most was Sakura, since she was almost blind.

I gave the king a reply that didn’t answer his question.

“I’m sorry, we don’t have the time to explain this!”
“W-We quickly need to get there…! Your Majesty, we’re sorry!” Mika apologized. “We’ll give you the details once we’re back, so can we leave and eliminate that evil god? Right now…!”

The king nodded at Mika’s request.

“It should be fine… Did you regain some of your memories? You can tell me, after you’ve successfully subjugated the evil god… Thus, go, Heroes!”
“”Yes!!””

Mika and I jumped out of a window. While in mid-air, I created something like an airplane, which we then boarded. We then used the map the king brought out earlier.

Now… time to get there on the double!

“Hah… how did it come to this?” Mika mused, while using her MP to operate the airplane.

I was busy preparing items.

“At any rate, whether it was a trick of fate or something else, the three of them ended up here,” I replied.
“…I guess that’s one way to look at it.”

Mika left the pilot’s seat – she likely had switched on the autopilot – and came to me. That shock earlier made us panic, but we both had calmed down a bit. Though deep down, I was still rather rattled.

“Ayumu… I worry about Sakura…”
“You’re right. But Kanata and, to a lesser extent, Shuu are with her.”
“True, Kanata being there gives me some peace of mind,” Mika agreed. “And Shuu is there, too¹.”
“Kanata is probably working hard to get his hands on a Master Potion to heal Sakura’s eyes.”
“That’s possible.”

I had created this vehicle on the fly, but it moved quite fast. Though it should’ve been a fair distance from Mephilad, we were almost in Yggdrasil before we knew it.

“Mika, we should avoid causing issues, so let’s land this thing outside of Yggdrasil’s castle town and enter the city normally.
“Alright.”

A few minutes later, we could see Yggdrasil proper.
…Even though the evil god has been resurrected, everyone seems to act normal. Still, seeing people dragging along slaves gives me a somewhat sickening feeling.

As discussed earlier, I landed the plane, and we then went straight to the city.

“Well, and here I- Whoa!? Is… is that Alim and Mika!?”
“Seriously? The real deal!?”

The gate guards started to make a commotion.

For now, we better show then our guild cards. As for our reason for coming here… judging from how it looks, they don’t seem to know about the evil god, so maybe we can just tell them we felt a huge amount of magic power?

“Excuse me,” I addressed them, “we felt strong magic power from this area, so we came here to investigate. It’s a top-secret matter…”
“Y-Yes! You’re adorable… Ah, wrong, not what I meant. Understood, your guild cards… check out…”

The excited guard gave us back our cards.

“It’s really them… uhm… if you don’t mind, would it be possible to shake your hand…?”
“Hey, dumbass, these girls *cough*… these girls came here *snort*… came here on a job. Don’t… *sniff*… don’t make any weird requests.”

The guard who’d asked for a handshake was stopped by another guard, whose nose had started to bleed. That saved us some trouble.

“Please… *sniff*… go on in.”
“Thank you very much! We’re off!”
“Thank you for your help!”

We gave the guard a wink² – he was bleeding so heavily from his nose, he might end up anemic – and then left.
For now, we need to head to the castle…!!

TL notes:
This marks the end of volume 12 on Syosetsu. From now on, volume 13 will almost entirely focus on the events leading to Surtr’s resurrection and the ensuing fight.

1. I wonder what happened in the past, for them to think so poorly of Shuu? Probably the constant teasing.
