“Eh-heh-heh~! I’m matching with you, Ayumu! I’ll try to create something, alright?” Mika exclaimed, as she expanded Dark Matter and started to craft something.
When she was done, a bracelet had appeared.
“This is my limit. Could you appraise it?”
“Sure thing.”
Just as she asked me to, I appraised the bracelet. I learned that its value was national treasure.
“It’s national treasure grade, you know?”
“Oh, it’s as I thought. The journeyman version isn’t able to make legend grade items…”
“Even so, it lets you make master potions. That’s good enough, isn’t it?”
“Well, I guess.”
Mika looked as if she didn’t agree. For my part… this confirmed, once again, just how amazing Item Master was.
“Aw~… I wanted to try making lots of legend grade swords and *whoosh*, throw them at something…”
“You can do that with national treasure grade swords too, can’t you?”
“Well, meh.”
She stamped her feet again, but she didn’t look that unhappy. To be honest, I could offer to yield my Item Master to her1, but she’d probably refuse. Scratch that, she’d definitely refuse.
Heh-heh-heh, I’m her childhood friend, I know her well enough. So, that can’t be the reason she’s throwing a tantrum… In other words, she wants me to spoil her, doesn’t she? Definitely.
I stroked her head, and when she turned her face my way, I gave her a kiss. It made her smile contently.
“Eh-heh-heh, as expected! You know what I want.”
“I guess. So, what do we do now? Think about more skills?”
“We have more than enough SKP. Let’s each make one new skill.”
It’s been quite some time since I did something with my SKP. Even so, it’s not like I particularly need more skills. Dark Matter Creation is simply way too strong.
But it’s not like there’s any downside to creating new skills.
“Alright, let’s do that! Let’s make them on our own and then tell each other later.”
“Yeah, let’s.”
With that being said, Mika and I decided to each create one SS-Rank skill.
Now, I wonder what would be best?
I mostly forgot about it lately, but I did have a preference for Thunder Magic. How nostalgic. Right now, I’m mostly focused on Mika, but until a short time ago, I was obsessed with video games.
…Alright, if I make something, it’ll be centered on Thunder Magic.
For a start, I’ll synthesize things with “Extreme Thunder Magic” as the base. I guess creating 30 S-Rank thunder skills, synthesizing those into 3 SS-Rank skills, and then synthesizing those three with each other again would be a good idea?
If anything, I want to create a skill with the highest possible sub-rank.
As for possible combinations… if I rearrange the order of Secret God Technique skills while synthesizing them with Thunder Magic, I should be able to create eight S-Rank skills with the highest sub-rank, right2?
For the rest, I should synthesize them with combinations that avoid any of the elements from fire to wood, other than light and darkness.

Phew.
For the time being, I managed to create three SS-Rank skills. They were called “Wrath of the Thunder God”, “Hell Rising”, and “Thunderbolt of the Fierce God”.
Now, time to synthesize those!
Oh… Huh, I feel like I’ve seen this message a long, long time ago…!? It didn’t show up when I made Dark Matter Creation, so it’s probably some crazy strong skill.
Ah-ha-ha, I’m looking forward to it.
I moved on to the next screen.
|
[SS: Wrath of the Thunder God] + [SS: Hell Rising] + [SS: Thunderbolt of the Fierce God]
→ [Fierce God of Thunder★★★★★] Or → [SS: Supreme Divine Thunder] (sub-rank 21) |
…That was what it showed.
It looks like I can create either of those two. No, more importantly, it lets me make a 5-star skill.
Should I… create this one? I should, shouldn’t I? Probably.
I heard of skills like it. 5-star SK2 skills that significantly increase the effectiveness of a specific element. This was one of those.
Considering that, could I use it to create even stronger thunder skills? In that case, I have to take it.
I obtained the skill Fierce God of Thunder. Then, following the same steps, I recreated the three SS-Rank skills from earlier and synthesized them with Fierce God of Thunder.
…I tried to, but I ended up with another SK2 skill.
This time, it looked like two of the SS-Rank skills and Fierce God of Thunder were enough for the synthesis. It resulted in “God of Thunder3“, a stronger version of “Fierce God of Thunder”.
So, I obtained that one, too. It also gave me a title.
Finally, I synthesized the remaining SS-Rank skill, God of Thunder, and three more S-Rank skills, which let me get my hands on an SS-Rank skill called “Peerless Divine Thunder4“. Its effects placed emphasis on raw power. It also had the ability to narrow down its target, but the three SS-Rank skills I had used for synthesis earlier all had that too, so it wasn’t that special.
All the explanation says is that its power is high… so it’s probably quite extreme. Heh-heh-heh.
Now, I wonder how Mika fared.
“I’m done, Mika. What about you?”
“Uh-huh! I made something nice!”
She showed me her skill.
It looked like Mika had created an SS-Rank skill called “Moonlit Icy Benevolence5“. It was ice magic that also included the light element. She told me that she thought a skill using ice would turn out strong. It was of sub-rank 20.
I also showed her my skills.
“So, it has high power… but more importantly, isn’t this God of Thunder incredible!?”
“Ah-ha-ha… it sure is. You can probably make something similar, you know? Do you want to?”
“Yeah, I do. Still, this match is my loss. Come on, you can give me any order you like. I’ll do anything you want.”
“Eh… we never said this would be a competition, right?”
After that, Mika first created a skill called “Heroic God of Light6“, and then used this skill, Moonlit Icy Benevolence and a few others to create an SS-Rank (sub-rank 21) skill named “Moon God’s Freeze7“.
“Now that we’ve made some skills, let’s eat lunch,” she declared, as she started to prepare our meal.
She finished cooking in a flash and put it on the table.
“Ayumu! Thanks to Item Journeyman, my cooking probably has improved. Please give it a try. Here, say ‘ah~’.”
Right after I had sat down at the table, Mika held out a mouthful of the Omurice she’d just cooked for me. I ate it. It was definitely better than when she still had True Cooking.
“Yep, you’ve improved.”
“Really? Feed me, too.”
This time, Mika waited with her mouth open. I scooped up a bite of the Omurice and fed it to her.
“Hrm~, that’s clearly better. But I don’t think I’ll ever catch up to you…”
“Ha-ha-ha, well, I have the Master skill, after all.”
Directly after we were done eating lunch, Mika and I discussed our plans for the afternoon.
“Shall we do something?”
“We could watch a movie.”
“And while we’re at it, smooch during every kiss-scene… Alright, let’s do that!”
For that reason, we went to watch a romantic movie together. And we kissed during all the important parts. At any rate, that was what we did. And the remainder of the day, we spent relaxing.
TL notes:
Thus ends our longer Mephilad intermission, with Alim and Mika now kitted out with higher stats and a more diverse skillset for their inevitable clash with the next big bad.
Footnotes:
- I wonder what’d happen if he extracted his own Item Master. Would Mika’s Item Journeyman immediately turn into the Master version or would she have to repeat the synthesis?
- Not sure how the author calculated this. With four different Secret God Technique skills, there should be 24 possible combinations (4x3x2x1). If the Martial Arts version cannot be used, it would only be 6 (3x2x1).
- This is technically 雷電の神 (“God of Thunder and Lightning”), but this seems redundant. Also, looks like Thor is about to lose his moniker (unless he has the same skill).
- The difference between “Supreme Divine Thunder” and “Peerless Divine Thunder” is that the beginning is 天下 for the former, and 無双 for the latter. Both seem very close in meaning, so I’m not sure which is supposed to be stronger, though I guess it’s the latter.
- The original is 月下氷仁. While 月下 means “under the moonlight”, 月下氷人 has the meaning “cupid” or “matchmaker”. The only difference to the skill is the last kanji, which is pronounced the same way. So, this could be a play on “cupid”, seeing Mika uses a bow, or it’s a typo and supposed to mean something else.
- This is the same skill Sakura obtained in chapter 316.
- The original is 月神氷下. 氷下 seems to mostly mean “beneath the ice”, so no idea if “freeze” is a possible translation. I think the skill is used in a future chapter and will be used to freeze things there.

-This is a special synthesis.
-The requirements are displayed, due to the skill’s power.
