“Eh-heh-heh… Morning.”
“Good morning, Mika.”
Right after waking up, we shared a kiss.
“Mh~! I’m so happy,” she gushed.
“Same for me.”
We made breakfast while having such a conversation, and then ate it while telling each other what we liked about it.
Yep… I get it. I have to say so myself, we act awfully lovey-dovey. But this is a good thing, you know.
“Do we have any work today?” Mika asked.
“There’s neither work nor any errands. But if I had to say, there is one thing. We should do something about our skills.”
“You’re right! Shall we do that?”
After finishing breakfast, we talked about how to go about working on our skills. It had been a really long time since we’d last touched those.
“I said ‘do something about our skills’,” I mused, “but… I wonder, how should we go about that?”
“For a start, couldn’t we learn the Secret God Technique skills for all weapon types?
Why, I’d completely missed that. What a good idea.
“Oh, that should work! Let’s do that.”
Thus, Mika and I created all those skills. Thanks to them, we were now able to handle every weapon type extremely well1.
“With that out of the way, let’s get more skills.”
“Right, not like we got anything else to do. What should we make next?”
Mika crossed her arms and thought for some time. Then, she seemed to hit on a bright idea. With a smile, she relayed her thoughts to me.
“I got it! How about I learn Item Master, too…? If that’s ok? It’s super convenient, and most importantly, we’d have matching skills, then, Ayumu.”
So, Mika’s idea is to obtain Item Master… That does surprise me a lot… Is that what they call “culture shock” or is it something else?
I never thought of that. It certainly was a very convenient skill, and while I didn’t want to carelessly teach others how to make it, I should at least have told Mika.
“Gotcha, I’ll teach you how to obtain it!”
“Thank you.”
“You’re missing some skills, so you’ll need to learn those first, Mika. Just give me a moment.”
“Alright!”
I took out three skill cards, which I had obtained in Rose’s dungeon, from my magic bag. They were “Production King”, “Appraisal King”, and “Harvest King”.
It’s a good thing I didn’t throw them away. I thought we’d no longer need them.
“Here you go, please learn those.”
“You have them as skill cards?”
“Next, you’ll need three more skills2. I’ll teach them to you.”
“Please do!”
I taught Mika the skills Medicine Production, Smithing, and Enchanting3, using the simple methods I remembered. Sure enough, she immediately obtained them and then evolved them to “True Medicine Production”, “True Smithing”, and “True Enchanting”.
“So…? What should I do next?”
“Now, if you synthesize all those skills plus True Cooking, you should get Item Master.”
“Hm, I’ll try that, then.”
Mika started the synthesis. However, she immediately frowned.
I wonder, did something happen?
“What’s up?”
“That’s weird. What is this? Hang on.”
“Hm~?”
She told me that she saw something in her mind that wasn’t shown on the screen of the Tozumaho. She copied it down faithfully on a paper and showed it to me.
[It is possible to create the inferior version of “Item Master”, “Item Journeyman5★★★★★”.]
Oh, I had no idea. So, Master type skills can only be obtained by one person…
“Hm~, that means I won’t be able to obtain Item Master, right? Should I make this other skill for now?
“Yep, do that.”
Mika created the so-called Item Journeyman. If my Item Master was the original, then this was apparently an inferior copy.
“Grr… I wanted to match with you, Ayumu…”
Mika stamped the ground a few times. It looked rather cute.
“Did you want skills matching mine that much?”
“Well, it wouldn’t have to be all of them. But for now, I’d have liked at least one… somehow.”
I get it. I would like to match with her, too. When we show up on magazine covers, we often wear matching clothes…
…That’s it, if it’s just about matching with her, I still have another skill.
“Mika, would you like to learn Dark Matter Creation?”
“Huh…! If I learned that, we’d match! But can I even create that with Item Journeyman?”
“I’ve got an idea.”
I brought out something I had used before. It was that thing I could turn into a skill card by using one of my own skills6.
“With this, I should be able to extract my own Dark Matter and give it to you, Mika. And then I’ll simply recreate it again.”
“Is that alright?”
“It should be… Here you go.”
I turned my Dark Matter Creation into a skill card and gave that to her. She immediately learned the skill.
“Oh… now I have your Dark Matter, Alim…”
“You were able to learn it without issue, right? Then I’ll recreate the skill.”
There was a memo on my Tozumaho, detailing the correct steps.
Wait, when did I write that again…?
At any rate, following those instructions7, I successfully reobtained Dark Matter Creation and then reallocated skill points to it.
TL notes:
This chapter answers a question that probably was on the minds of several people since the Yggdrasil cast started to obtain skills like Appraisal King and Harvest King. I can’t imagine Kanata not trying to synthesize these, so he should have gotten the same message as Alim did in chapter 29, alerting him that this is a skill he absolutely should get. With the information we have now, this message probably won’t show up if a Master skill is already owned by someone (or it was Jizou’s doing and only showed up for Alim because of that).
Footnotes:
- Except for all the nonstandard types, of course.
- It’s two skills in the original, but Mika should need three more, seeing she only has True Cooking at that point.
- This is Artistry and Enchanting in the original, which doesn’t make much sense, seeing Alim never learned the Artistry skill. The author probably mixed it up with the recent Yggdrasil chapters.
- This “master” is only for skills using マスター (katakana for the English “master”). The Production/Harvest/Appraisal Master use 名人 (“master”, “expert”) instead.
- The original is アイテムマエストロ (“Item Maestro”) here and アイテムマイスター (“Item Meister”) in the next chapter. But those are just “master” in Italian and German. I changed it to “journeyman” instead, since this makes more sense as an inferior version of the “master” skill.
- He used those back in chapter 122.
- Back in chapter 114 when he made the skill, he used both Wood Pterodactyl Summoning Magic and Soap for it, skills he should no longer have. He also never made a memo of the steps to get the skill (at least not on-screen). Either the author forgot these things or it’s foreshadowing.

[Since the expected result of this synthesis, Item Master, already has an owner, it cannot be created. A skill with ‘Master4‘ attached to its name can only be owned by up to one person at the same time.]
