I raised my upper boby. Brilliant sunlight was shining through the window and I could hear some birds – no clue what kind they were – chirp outside. It was a refreshing morning…

Currently… I wasn’t wearing anything. And next to me, with a smile on her face and so close, she almost touched me, Rir was sleeping. She was covered by the futon, but I knew that underneath, she was completely naked.

On the floor were my pajamas and her suggestive black underwear. She told me that she had needed a lot of courage when she went to buy it.

Yup… what do I do now? Not sure how I feel.
Was pickin’ a room with just a double bed a mistake from the start? Nah, it started ’cause I got romantically involved with her…

I gotta calm down… hm~…
We both consented to it… and while I’m worried ’bout their effectiveness, we properly used the tools they have for that in this world, but… not sure, that’s how I feel. There’s some uneasiness I just can’t put into words…

That moment, the one next to me slowly started to wake up.

“Mh… Ah… m-morning. Good morning, Shuu… Eh-heh… woof, woof, woof…”

Rir sat up.

She seemed different from yesterday. She also didn’t appear to be bothered that her chest was visible, now the futon no longer covered it.
Well, after what happened.

“Mh… Shuu… about last night… woof.”

Still somewhat half asleep, she hugged me. For the time being, I patted her head. When I did that, she smiled at me and her ears stood up happily.
How do I put it, she’s adorable.

“M-Mornin’, Rir.”
“Shuu…! Oh, is it alright if I call you ‘Shuu’?”
“Ah, sure. You can call me whatever you want.”
“Woof… Then I’ll call you ‘darling’! Eh-heh-heh, I’m just joking.”

She showed an elated expression.

“Rir… we should get up soon, y’know.”
“Woof… I’d like to lie next to you a bit longer. Can’t I? Bask in the afterglow.”
“S-Sure.”

With my words of consent, we stayed under the covers for another 10 minutes. During that time, she clung to my arm, hugged me, kissed me on my cheek, and licked my face.

Incidentally, I was wondering about one thing.
Just why am I this calm? It’s strange.

“Are you satisfied?” I asked her.
“Woof~. Reasonably, I guess.”
“I see. Erm, first would be a bath… Do you want to go first? Or should I?”
“Let’s go together…!”
“I feel like that would… defeat the purpose. You go first, Rir.”
“Woof~… alright.”

Rir tried to climb down from the edge of the bed.

“Eeek!?”

It sounded like she had tumbled down. After that, she tried standing up several times but couldn’t manage to put enough strength in her legs.

“Are you alright?”
“…I can’t stand.”
“Huh… I’ll try castin’ some healing magic.”

I used Restoration Magic on her. As a result, she managed to get up.

“I was hoping you’d pick me up and carry me to the bath, you know.”
“I see.”
“…Please?”
“…Right, gotcha.”

With Rir on my back¹, I walked to the bathroom.
Reminds me of when we first met, don’t it? Back then… she was just skin and bones.

In the bathroom, I carefully set her down.

“Later.”
“Woof… let’s go in together, after all…”
“If we do that, the bath has no meaning. C’mon, we can do it again later, alright?”

I left her in the bathroom and went back to the bed. I expected it to be awfully dirty and sweaty, but it apparently had an effect that kept it clean all the time. I had planned to put it in the laundry, but it seemed there was no need.

For the time being, I picked up my dropped pajamas and, after some hesitation, Rir’s underwear, and put them in the washing machine.

A bit later, Rir emerged from the bathroom. It looked like she had already changed into proper clothes.

“Shuu, you can go in next.”
“Alright.”
“I’ll go make breakfast for when you’re done.”

I also went into the bath and had my usual quick soak. I was out in a flash. But even so, breakfast was already done.

“I expected you to be done quickly, Shuu. I made it just in time.”
“R-Right. Uhm, thank you for the food.”
“Please enjoy.”

While it felt a bit off for her to no longer call me “Master”, it was probably a good thing she started using “Shuu” instead.

The fried eggs she’d made were quite good.

“Shuu, what should we do today?”
“We can go somewhere again. Watch a play… or somethin’.”
“Woof! That sounds nice! I’m looking forward to it!” she said with a smile.

Maybe it’s ’cause of the sunlight, but she looks like she’s glowin’, y’know.

For now, I gave her some more headpats.

“Woof~. Eh-heh-heh.”

…Guess this was the right thing to do, after all.

TL notes:
Looks like neither of them regretted going through with it last night. Good for them. Again, let’s hope there’s decent soundproofing, or Kanata and Sakura might have some complaints.

This is also the point where Rir start’s calling Shuu by his name instead of using 主人様 (“Master”). For how common the “protagonist rescues a slave girl and starts a relationship with her”-trope is, they usually continue calling the MC “Master” or a similar subservient address, no matter how far their relationship advances, so I think that’s a nice divergence from the norm.

Reading this the first time also made me realize that, while cat/dog-girls are rather common in isekai, especially with harem protagonists, they’re rarely the ones said protagonist goes all the way with. Of the 70+ light/web-novels I know that feature beastgirls at least somewhat prominently, less than five have them do it with the protagonist.

1. No princess-carry? Someone still hasn’t learned to read the room.
