“We’re home.”
“…Yeah.”

Kanata and Sakura, who had just returned from the castle, seemed to be in a terribly poor mood.

“Who does this Loukis think he is?!” Sakura yelled.
“Well, to begin with, he forcibly summoned us to this world and won’t sent us back unless we fulfill his request.”
“Grr… You always told me that we shouldn’t trust him, and Shuu also said that he didn’t hear anything good about him! Even though from his appearance, he looks like one of these handsome foreigners…”
“He is a bad king. I thought so before, but my guess is that this country only functions thanks to the hard work of those around him.”
“That’s absolutely the case.”

The two kids talked for a bit more about how worried they were about Kruzel and Kyrian, and how they wouldn’t trust Loukis.

“Geez… I mean, seriously…”
“Let’s leave talking about Mr. Loukis… no, that fool king for another day…” Kanata tried to change the topic. “What will we do today?”
“Huh? That’s the first time you talk about that guy in this manner.”
“Well… I used appraisal to finally get rid of all the surveillance equipment,” the boy explained.

He held out his hand towards Sakura, in which he was holding a large number of things that looked like stickers. They had all been torn in half.

“…So, he really listened in on us… That’s scary…”
“We had no privacy at all, you know… So, what will we do?”
“Hm~, Kanata, you can take a nap if you want,” she told him after pretending to think for a bit.
“Huh? You don’t mind?”

“Not at all. I have some things I’d like to do. Oh, right, can I use all our magic cards1 or are there some we still need?”
“No, you can use everything. Are you going to craft something?”
“Eh-heh-heh, that’s right. It’s for my hobby.”
“Gotcha, I’ll take you up on that nap, then.”
“Sleep tight. I’ll call you, once lunch is ready.”

Kanata went back into the bedroom. Once she had made sure he was gone, Sakura used the skill Final Support on herself to raise her dexterity and quickness stats as much as possible.

Then, she took out a sewing set (she had bought it at some point without Kanata’s knowledge), items and magic beast corpses they had obtained in the dungeon, and various other things from her own and Kanata’s magic bags, and started crafting something.

“Kanata, wakey wakey, food is ready.”
“Mh~… I’m awake.”

After being woken up by his beloved girlfriend, Kanata sat down at the dining table. Lunch on this day consisted mainly of fish meunière.

“Mh, it’s delicious. Sorry for always leaving the cooking to you. Thank you for your hard work.”
“Wha-~!? Ah… t-that’s alright! I enjoy cooking, and, maybe thanks to the skill, it’s not that much of a bother to begin with…!”
“Heh-heh, gotcha.”

Once they had finished eating lunch, the kids discussed their plans for the afternoon.

“What will we do?” Kanata asked again. “There’s something like a public park nearby, so we could go for a walk?”
“Go for a walk…”
“Other than that… we could make sweets again. Maybe ice cream? I’m pretty sure we can make that.”
“Ice cream…! I want to eat some! Let’s make a large amount and then eat it all!” Sakura exclaimed excitedly, with her eyes gleaming.

“Well… I get how you feel, but that’ll give you a stomachache…”
“I have Restoration Magic.”
“It’s cold, so you’ll get brain freeze…”
“I have Restoration Magic2.”
“In that case, shall we make lots?”

The kids made ice cream.

They made vanilla ice cream3, ice cream mixed with cocoa, and then some mixed with ground down and liquefied raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries. They made two large bowls of each of those.

Then, they put them in normal food storage units together with a large amount of magically created ice, to cool them down.

“Now all we have to do is stir it and wait~! There are three bowls each for you and me, Kanata, right?”
“It’ll probably take until evening until we can eat it. Let me just say this in advance, no more than one bowl per day, alright? No eating everything at once, you hear?”
“Grr… Well, I obviously was planning to do exactly that… By the way, Kanata.”

Sakura, who’d just been elated and hyped up by the prospect of eating ice cream, suddenly started to squirm shyly.

“What is it? Is something wrong?”
“Erm… uhm. I made something for you… H-Here you go!” Sakura stammered, as she took out a well-made eyepatch from her magic bag and handed it to Kanata.
“Is that… an eyepatch!?”
“T-That’s right. I tried to make one fitting for this world. After all, the one you often wear has no special powers, right, Kanata?”
“Hm~? But it contains your love, Sakura, and-”
“You… you idiot! Just what are you saying…? Erm… I-If it’s about l-love… I-I also put it in that one!”

Sakura’s face turned bright red, and she gave Kanata a light whack.

“Ah-ha-ha, alright. Thank you.”
“T-Try appraising it, for now.”
“Sure.”

When Kanata appraised the eyepatch, he learned that a truly staggering number of enchantments had been cast on it. It was of national treasure grade and had its own name, which was the overly long “Handmade Deep-Black Magic Eyepatch Filled With Sakura’s Love For Kanata’s Exclusive Use”4.

Furthermore, due to the ample amounts of monster materials from the dungeon being used in its creation, it glowed green, depending on how the light hit it.

“Did you appraise it?”
“Y-Yep. It’s national treasure grade, that’s amazing.”
“Eh-heh-heh… try putting it on.”
“Alright.”

Kanata put the eyepatch over his left eye. It should have blocked his vision, but instead it turned transparent, allowing him to see. It felt just like wearing a monocle5.

“It’s transparent…”
“Yeah, that’s how the enchantment works. Look, you wore that eyepatch when we fought the bosses, and it looked like it impeded your field of vision, so…
“Thank you! Really, I’ll treasure it!”
“R-Right! If you like it, it was worth making it! Eh-heh-heh~…”

“Oh, that’s right.” This time, Kanata took out his old eyepatch from the magic bag. Then, he put that over his right eye. “How does it look?”

Kanata looked at Sakura, while trying to show off. There were eyepatches on both his eyes.
Sakura broke into laughter.

“It’s… it’s… *pfft* s-so… heh-heh… so funny… ha-ha… I can’t stop… *pfft*… laughing…!”
“Does my appearance evoke that much ridicule…?”
“Go and… heh-heh… take a look in the mirror… ha-ha!”

Kanata peeked at the mirror over the washbasin. There he saw his own face, looking as if he was blindfolded. He immediately took off the eyepatch from his right eye and stored it away in his magic bag.

“*Pfft*,” he snorted.
“Right, it looks funny, doesn’t it?”
“It does not seem to suit my sublime visage… so I shall refrain from using it.”
“Right, that’s fine… So, how long are you going to keep wearing the new eyepatch?”
“It lets me see through it, so other than in the bath, I could wear it all the time, I guess6?”

“Eh, then I can’t see your face well, Kanata…”
“Hm? Oh, in that case, I’ll take it off…” Kanata removed the new eyepatch, too. “At any rate, thank you.”
“You’re welcome. It was my way of thanking you.”
“Huh? But wasn’t that kiss back then your way of saying thanks?”
“Ah… well… I feel like just that won’t be enough to balance out everything you’ve done for me up to this point…” Sakura explained, while her face turned a deeper shade of red.

Kanata reacted by patting her head.

“You really shouldn’t worry about that stuff. You’ve done enough…”
“Uhm, but… even if you say that, it’s vexing that you constantly do stuff for me, Kanata.”
“…Still. You may not have noticed, but you’re done a lot for me, too. You really don’t need to worry,” Kanata told her and stopped patting her head.

After being startled for a moment, Sakura started to get agitated.

“Could… could it be, that you did something… s-sexual to me when I was sleeping…?”
“I would never! I wouldn’t do anything you don’t want me to; you know that!”
“…I-I can’t believe you’d do… something like… T-Then, what exactly did I do for you?”
“Let me think. When we made ice cream earlier, for example, you had this overjoyed smile on your face, right…? Just seeing that has a healing effect on me… Though putting it into words is kinda embarrassing.”

Kanata gave her a bashful smile. This made her blush even more.

“K-Kanata… ever since we came to this world… you’re like one of those male leads you see in manga for girls… That’s what I’m trying to say…”
“You think so? But look, there was the time when my true thoughts slipped out and I called you ‘cute’, right? Since then, I felt like it was fine for me to tell you what I really think. I guess you could say I… put my doubts behind me, thanks to you.”
“Uhm~… Is… I-Is that… so? E-Erm… Eh-heh.”

After talking some more about it, they got tired of the topic and started playing games. Currently, they no longer had any instructions from Loukis, so there was nothing for Kanata to do but spend time with Sakura.

This time, since they had gotten bored of always playing Shogi and Othello, they created a new fairly well-made set of playing cards and used it to play Speed and Sevens7. Seeing they were rather limited with just two players, they considered inviting Shuu the next time.

“…It feels like we played for a long time, but it’s still a bit early for dinner, isn’t it?” Sakura mused.
“True enough. Mr. Loukis didn’t tell us anything, so should we go somewhere tomorrow and the day after?”
“You mean… go on a date? Just walking around these parts would make me happy…”

By chatting like that, they killed some more time, until they reached a good point to cook and eat dinner. Obviously, it was Sakura who did the cooking. She placed the meal she had made on the dining table, and the kids ate together.

“Phew, that was a delicious meal.”
“Yeah… Heh-heh, then now it’s time for ice cream! Ice cream, ice cream!”

Later, Sakura got a fierce headache and was stuck on the toilet for an extended period, but that’s another story.

After eating ice cream, the kids took their baths, and then went to sleep in each other’s embrace, though they did leave some space.

TL notes:
No longer with any orders from the kingdom, Kanata and Sakura find themselves with little to do and focus on their relationship instead. As mentioned before, this is a clear focus of this volume.

This also marks the end of the longest uninterrupted stretch of Yggdrasil chapters, next time we’ll get a side story.

Footnotes:

  1. The original is エンチャントの紙 (“paper of enchant(ment)”), which is likely the paper used to create magic cards with the Enchanting skill. Only, Sakura doesn’t have that skill (or the tools for it), so I assume it’s a typo and she means the magic cards they got from the dungeon.
  2. Someone is about to find out that a game-like world doesn’t run on purely game-logic. Like Alim back in chapter 142.
  3. The original is 普通のアイスクリーム (“normal ice cream”). Thanks to Kemm for clarifying that this vanilla ice cream.
  4. Makes me wonder if you can decide the name when you craft something, or if it’s assigned automatically.
  5. The original is 片目だけメガネ (“glasses on just one eye”). It’s not exactly the same as “monocle”, which is 片眼鏡 in Japanese. I just figured that would make more sense here.
  6. Sakura inwardly: “I made a huge mistake!”
  7. The originals are スピード and 7並べ. I don’t know much about card games, so not sure what “Speed” refers to. “Sevens” seems to be related to the Domino card game.
