“Eh-heh… heh-heh-heh… That’s great~…” I unintentionally said some of the things I was thinking.

I was currently reading a book on my Tozumaho. It was a romance novel about childhood friends. I really liked that tried-and-true approach, after all. I got this heart-wringing feeling in my chest when I read it.

I wonder, are there such wonderful romance novels in every world?

I think the best part in the story was when they got married. Other than that… there was also the scene where the rival appears, which made my heart pound… and when they failed to meet each other, too. Oh, also, that scene when they stopped seeing each other as friends and as members of the opposite gender instead!

It was great… really.

“Mika, what are you reading?” Alim, who was sitting next to me, asked.
“It’s a romance novel, you see. You can find high quality romances in Anazumu, too.”
“Huh… I haven’t read any of those from here yet, so I couldn’t say. What’s the story about?”
“Eh~, you want me to tell you?”
“I sure do!”
“Geez, I guess I brought that on myself.”

I told Alim the contents of the romance novel in broad strokes. But for some reason, he started to look at me with a doubtful expression.

“Hey, Mika… If I may borrow one of your phrases, doesn’t that sound less fated than it was for us?”
“…Huh? When did you turn into Ayumu?”

Without my notice, Alim had turned back into a boy.

“Eh, let’s ignore that for now,” he tried to get back on track.
“You’re not wrong… still, this is a novel… We’re real, aren’t we?”
“Yep, we are. But still… seeing how you summarized that story, I think if you did the same for what happened to us, it’d sound pretty crazy.”
“Well… you got a point there.”

When he told me that, I tried looking back at our time together. Starting when we were two years old until now. From pre-school to elementary school, middle school, and finally high school, we always were together. I guess the only longer interval when we were apart, were the around two weeks after Ayumu’s death?

The more I think about it, the more I realize how much I love him…! I mean, that’s not all that different from how I normally feel, you know.

“Ayumu, I tried recalling how it was in the past, but in the end, my feelings for you were consistent, so it’s no different at present. If I had to say, the only difference between Japan and Anazumu is that we’re now in a relationship and engaged.”
“That’s true… I do love you, Mika.”
“Eh-heh-heh-heh, Me too!”

I gave Ayumu a hug.

He promised me that we’d be together forever, didn’t he? Eh-heh-heh, we’re pretty much married already… In that case… I can do whatever I want with him, can’t I? Obviously, it’s the other way, too…!!

“Ayumu~!”
“What is it?”
“I’d like to make out with you… We’ve been talking about childhood friends, which made my affection for you well up! Come on, I wanna do stuff that couples do!”
“That’s fine with me, but don’t we do that every day?”
“We do, but I still wanna!”
“Alright, alright.”

I gave Ayumu a kiss.

Eh-heh-heh-heh! Eh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh! Eh-heh-heh-heh!
I’m so happy… geez!

“Eh-heh-heh, thank you, Ayumu~… I love you, no matter how often I have to say it! I love you~!”
“Today, you kinda… seem to be running wild, don’t you…?”

It’s right after I read that romance novel and got all emotional because of it, I can’t help it!

“That’s because right now, I’m fully in love-mode! I’d like you to keep me company for a bit…”
“Sure thing.”
“Eh-heh-heh, *smooch*!”

Right, this is crazy. I’m really running wild. I never expected just recalling stuff about Ayumu would lead to this, eh-heh.

“Mika… what would you like to do?”
“Hm… To begin with, please pat my head! Oh… and after that, could we do that sequence of actions we did on my birthday again…?”

Said sequence I was talking about, was him putting his hand next to my face as I had my back to the wall, then him lifting my chin and saying a cool line, and finally giving me a French kiss.

I can’t forget it.

“Mh… you did like that, didn’t you?”
“Yeah! That’s because I love you, Ayumu!”
“Me too… Oh, once we’re through with that sequence, it’s my turn…”
“That’s fine, I’ll do whatever you’d like me to!”

“Mika, you’re kinda acting as if you’re drunk…
“I love you… Ayumu, I love you so~ much! Eh-heh-heh-heh-heh.”
“Geez… you’re adorable…”

I was completely out of it, so Ayumu gave me a lap pillow.

“Thank you, for going along with my desires.”
“Nah, it’s all good. Still, Mika, there’s one point where we’re different from the childhood friends in that story, you know.”
“Hm~? That thing you said earlier?”
“It’s not only that. We’re… much more in love with each other, I guess?”
“Is… is that different from normal childhood friends? Hm~… still, I really do love you, Ayumu,” I mused as I buried my face in his thighs.

Even though he was currently a boy, they were as soft as those of a girl.

“Right, it’s fine to be different than others. That’s just how you and I are, Mika.”
“True! Eh-heh-heh~.”

I raised my body once more and gave him a very long and intense kiss. I had no idea how many dozens of times I had done that, just today.

I feel the happiest ever…!

TL notes:
A Mika PoV side story that is exactly what it says on the tin. If this keeps going, I’ll get diabetes from all that sugary sweet romance at some point…

There also was a long-ish author’s comment, but I’ll paraphrase it since it was needlessly long-winded without saying much:
-The author enjoys writing these kinds of chapters most, and they probably went into withdrawal from 21 Yggdrasil chapters back-to-back, but they did this one as a side story since they don’t know if there’s a demand for it.
-Alim and Mika’s relationship is by far the strongest among the protagonists and will stay so. Kanata and Sakura won’t get to this level, and while Shuu and Rir might, that’s only if Rir is the driving force. Shuu is simply too passive in their relationship.
