“Mh~… Good morning, Kanata.”
“Oh, morning, Sakura.”

When they woke up, Kanata was still in Sakura’s embrace. Far from trying to get away, he was nuzzling against her like an animal.

“Kanata… how should I act as your girlfriend?”
“Can’t we keep going as we were? These days… we often walk arm in arm, and we also sleep in the same bed. Back on Earth, we also often went out just as the two of us, didn’t we?”
“You have a point. Then we keep going like this… Oh, give me some time to make breakfast.”

Sakura separated from Kanata and walked towards the kitchen with an awfully buoyant gait. Meanwhile, Kanata thought about the future.

“Not at all, thank you. I’ll try… not to destroy your drawing.”

As they were eating breakfast, the kids talked about their plans for the day.

“Let’s take care of our status screens today,” Kanata declared. “Though I think it will take quite some time. What should we do afterwards? We could go somewhere.”
“Hm~… Let’s not go outside today. We’ll go to the castle tomorrow, anyway, so I’d like to relax inside. Should we play something?”
“Alright. Let’s do that.”

Once they had finished eating, the kids opened their status screens and started thinking about what to do with their points, also taking the skill cards they had obtained into consideration. From what he said, Kanata’s plan was to make as many SS-Rank skills as he could.

Almost all the skills Kanata had obtained were related to darkness. He was a chuunibyou, after all. Among the 14 SS-Rank skills he had, six were of sub-rank 21.

Furthermore, he had apparently made “Fierce God of Darkness” by synthesizing more than three SS-Rank skills. For the time being, he taught that method to Sakura, who used it to create similar skills for wood and light.

On that note, they used up most of the skill cards containing S-Rank skills they had obtained, to produce SS-Rank skills. Only SK2 skill cards and a scant few S-Rank skill cards were left.

“You told me I should go half healer and half attacker, so I made my skills according to some of the examples you gave me, Kanata. Was that ok?”
“Yep, it’s perfect!”
“Eh-heh-heh, good.”

After going over each other’s skills, it was already a bit past the time for lunch. Kanata was exhausted from all the mental effort, so he took a break, while Sakura, somewhat hurriedly, made lunch and placed it on the table. Then, the kids ate said meal.

“That was delicious.”
“Eh-heh… Thank you. Now, should we play something?”
“You’re right… I think we can start with-”

It happened when Kanata was about to make a suggestion. There was a polite knock on the front door of their apartment, and a female voice could be heard.

“My apologies. Sir Kanata, Lady Sakura, might you be present?”

When they heard that voice, Kanata and Sakura looked at each other.

“That’s one of the employees here, right?” Sakura commented. “I wonder what she needs.”
“Well… I’ll go check for now.”
“Alright.”

Kanata went to the entrance and opened the door.

“Did something happen?”
“A guest came to see the two of you. He said his name is ‘Shuu’… and that if I told you he’s the ‘best friend of that girlish elevengrader’, you would understand.”

While Kanata was surprised, he immediately gave the employee a reply.

“Indeed, I understand!”
“Said guest is currently waiting in the lobby, Sir.”
“Alright, thank you very much for going out of your way to inform us, Miss.”

The elf gave Kanata a bow and then returned to her workplace. The boy went back into the apartment and broke the news to Sakura.

“It’s Shuu… he’s come here!”
“Huh…!? Shuu!”
“Yep, he’s apparently waiting in the lobby. Let’s go there quickly.”
“Eh!? Wha-…”
“Calm down… Let’s go meet him.”
“A-Alright.”

The two kids went to the lobby.

And that’s it, the very last (full) status sheet we’ll ever see. There were errors again this time, so I guess chapter 304 was a fluke. The stat sheets also got so big, they managed to break the display of the reader app I’m using for proofreading for the first time…

Just when you thought Shuu was crazy for making eight SS-Rank skills, here’s Kanata with 14, plus all the Secret … God Technique skills (not that he plans to use anything but spears) and a 5-star skill similar to the one Shuu had from the beginning. On that note, judging by information from a future chapter, those 5-star skills with just の神 (“god of”) are stronger that those with variants like の鬼神 (“fierce god of”) or の英神 (“heroic god of”). So, Shuu’s skill might be a bit stronger than the ones Kanata and Sakura created here.

I’m genuinely grateful we didn’t get the whole synthesis progress this time. On top of likely being dozens of pages long, it’d have involved hundreds of throw-away skills with annoying names.

1. This might also mean that it (the heart drawing) was unnecessary.
2. Dang, he’s faster than Alim (at least without any equipment boosts).
3. The original is スコッル (sukorru). In Norse mythology, Sköll is a wolf who chases the sun. He’s the son of Fenrir.
4. The original is バルドル (barudoru). In Norse Mythology, Baldr is the Son of Odin and Frigg. His death is what starts Ragnarök.
5. The original is ヴァーリ (vaari). In Norse mythology, Váli is one of Odin’s sons.
6. The original is ミスティルテイン (misutirutein). Mistilteinn (Mistletoe) is a legendary sword from an Islandic saga.
7. The original is フリッグ (friggu). In Norse mythology, Frigg is a goddess who has several children with Odin, among them Baldr.
8. The original is イオース・オブ・ヘイム (ioosu obu heimu). I didn’t find any “eos” or “ios” belonging to Norse mythology, so not sure what that’s supposed to be.
