I wondered how long it had been since we left the Fraus Kingdom. I kept count for about ten days, but no longer than that. It didn’t make sense to keep track—or rather, I could live without counting.
At first, I was constantly worried because, back in Japan, I had always worried about how many days had passed and what time it was. But once I stopped thinking about it, it felt great. But I couldn’t let myself not think about it now.
I had suddenly been summoned to a world where I didn’t know anything. At first, I felt safe because I was protected, but that peace was temporary—I had to escape. Still, I was strong so I’d somehow managed. When I came face-to-face with the Gryps, I truly thought I was going to die. I had left the castle barely dressed, with no idea where to go.
At first, I was completely alone. Somehow, Fujiwara, or rather Michihisa, decided to come with me. That was a huge relief. The fact that he was a boy was a bit of a hassle, but it was still far better than being on my own. And Michihisa didn’t do anything inappropriate.
Now then, when we arrived in Aquilus, we came across a carriage under attack by monsters. After stepping in to help, I discovered that inside was the daughter of a high-ranking noblewoman1. I hadn’t expected such a story-like development, and deep down, I felt a thrill of excitement. But since I was bad at communicating, I left all the negotiations to Michihisa.
I also considered explaining the situation myself. Since we were both girls, I felt it was my responsibility as a woman to handle the conversation. But I couldn’t. I couldn’t talk to her.
After stammering “Um… ah… um…” about ten times, Michihisa took over. The young lady didn’t blame me for being so flustered that I couldn’t even form a proper sentence. Everyone was kind.
Her name was Nataphilia Cronzel. The daughter of a district count of Aquilus. When we met her, she was on an inspection tour of her territory. We were then hired as Nataphilia’s guards and accompanied her to her mansion. There we were asked if we required anything else in addition to the escort fee. That’s when Michihisa expressed his interest in learning more about the heroes, which led to us being welcomed as guests of the Cronzel family.
The Cronzel mansion had books on the heroes. It was like having a private school library filled with all kinds of books. While interacting with Lady Nataphilia and the people of the Cronzel territory, we continued our research on the heroes. However, nothing significant came of it.
How should I put it? Everything felt like mere stories, things you’d see in picture books. I did pick up some scattered knowledge, such as the fact that spirits once existed in this world. But I still had no idea what kind of heroes had come before us or whether they had ever managed to return to their original world.
However, there was one thing I was glad to learn. It was that the Demon Lord had suddenly appeared, and since then he had always been the world’s enemy. There was no doubt that the heroes had been summoned to defeat the Demon Lord, and history showed that the Demon Lord had appeared multiple times throughout history.
As for now, despite there being no clear confirmation of the Demon Lord’s appearance, we had been summoned. The so-called Demon Lord, the ruler of the Nigel Kingdom, with whom Fraus was preparing for war, was not the same as the Demon Lord in the original sense. In other words, Toriyama’s death had not impacted the world in any way.
The Fraus Kingdom had selfishly summoned us for reasons oblivious to me. It was never about the world. The world was not dangerous, and there was no particular need for us to run away from Toriyama’s skill.
At this point, in a way, we had already achieved our goal. But we decided to continue researching the heroes. Because there might still be a way to return to our original world. I believed that by learning what had happened to past heroes, we could figure out how to handle our situation.
When I asked the lord if I could access more detailed records, he told me that Lady Nataphilia would soon return to the academy and that I should try searching for answers there. As both her escorts and students, we would be allowed to live at the school. When I asked if such a thing was possible, he assured me that with the power of the Cronzel family, it was.
And so, we were sent to a boarding school alongside Lady Nataphilia.

A lot happened in the short time since I entered the academy. We solved a case involving Lady Nataphilia, Michihisa got into a difficult duel, and a B Grade monster approached the school, nearly causing its collapse, so it had to be defeated2. Unbeknownst to me, my status had risen to that of a B Grade adventurer. Although I had managed to avoid standing out, my newfound position granted me access to a restricted room filled with books that were reserved for only a handful of individuals.
Inside, I found an extensive collection of historical texts, along with books on advanced magic and even texts that could pass as national secrets. And so, we finally obtained the knowledge we had been searching for.
We learned about the heroes who had been summoned to this world before us. While heroes were now properly summoned, it was said that the very first hero had suddenly arrived when the Demon Lord first appeared in this world. His power had been immense. He alone had defeated a Demon Lord, captured the spirits, and established the six nations.
It was written that this first hero had been an exceptionally powerful figure in his original world as well. Someone who, back in his world, had defeated a foe on the same level as the Demon Lord. Thanks to this hero, the people of this world had learned about other worlds and, in time, developed the summoning spell.
At first, like the original hero, they summoned only the strongest individuals from other worlds. However, amongst those, there were heroes who, after defeating the Demon Lord, only indulged in their selfish pleasures as a form of payback. Simply put, one had forcibly taken princesses from various countries into his harem and lived in luxury3.
I vaguely assumed that harems existed in this world, but now that I thought about it, even the lord of this mansion had around three wives.
Realizing the risks of summoning powerful individuals, the people of this world eventually developed the summoning spell that had brought us here4.
