Former Capital of the Nigel Kingdom, where once stood the majestic royal castle. Now, it was nothing more than a ruined shell—collapsed, broken, and hollow. Just moments ago, a battle had taken place there—one so fierce and extraordinary that an ordinary person likely wouldn’t have even been able to comprehend what was happening. Now, that place was quiet. With the loud clashes of battle gone, demons who had escaped the clutches of the Fraus army began to gather.

And what they found there… was a single, broken man. At first, no one could recognize who he was—his appearance was far too devastated.

But finally, someone realized. This man was one of the most feared heroes of the Fraus’ army. No—the one who stood at its very top.

Once that truth spread, he was immediately taken into custody. His eyes stared blankly into nothing. When spoken to, his words were incoherent, impossible to understand. Even so, he was the very person responsible for driving them to the brink of annihilation. Judging from the situation, there could be no doubt—he was also the one who killed their beloved queen.

The demons’ deepest wish would never come true now. And even the alternative purpose they’d been given… they could no longer fulfill it. This war had decimated their numbers. Not only were they too exhausted to continue killing humans, but they could barely even survive. No one knew how many days they had left.

And the primary reason for that was this man.

The world was crumbling. Killing him here wouldn’t change a thing. Soon, they too would follow after him into death. Killing him wouldn’t bring peace to their hearts. So the demons who remained concluded how to handle this man. He would be displayed in his wretched state until the world came to an end.

He would be kept alive—just enough to continue suffering.

They would watch him closely, making sure he could not take his own life.

They would make him the last living soul in this world.

And so the man was exposed to the world at the site of the fallen castle. Though it was just a sliver, seeing his lifeless, disgraceful state brought a measure of peace to the demons’ hearts. When they hurled stones at him, he would scream something.

Thus, until the very end of the world, the man would remain the demons’ plaything. Whether he truly became the last person left alive—only God knew.
