After buying the laptop and returning home, my dad and I set it up together.
Since I’ll be using it for my offline collaboration with Fuwa-chan, A.K.A. Hana-san, I needed to install all the necessary software beforehand.

“First things first, you’ll be moving your whole body during offline collabs, so I recommend installing this,” my dad said, introducing me to BodyRig, a program that could be considered the full-body version of Fa*eRig.

“It tracks your movements through the camera and has decent accuracy, but it’s still not as good as proper motion tracking, so keep that in mind.”
“So it’s mainly for offline collabs?”

“More or less.”
After that, he helped me set up the camera and everything else.
Of course, he also showed me all the fine adjustments so I could handle it myself next time.

“Phew… just load the 3D model here, and the rest is handled by the software.”
“I can’t check it right now since my data’s still back home, so I’ll do that later.”

“Hm, wait. I actually have a model here, so we can test it with that.”
“Really? Let’s try it!”
Since Dad had a sample model ready, we decided to test how it worked in the software.

“Alright, just plug in this USB…”
He inserted a USB stick into the laptop.
The model data was inside, and after copying it over, we successfully imported it.

“Okay! Now we just run it.
I’ll record it so you can review it later. Try moving over there, Yuki.”
“Got it!”
I moved to the designated spot.
I turned, swayed around, and even did a bit of headbanging.

“Okay, looks good.”
“Okie-dokie.”
Then I checked the recording.

“Looks solid. The model isn’t breaking even when you turn or headbang.”
“Seems fine.”
Usually, this kind of setup takes time, but with Dad helping, it went surprisingly quickly.
It really helps having him around.

That night, we had dinner Mom made.
It reminded me that I still had a long way to go with my own cooking, so I want to keep improving.
Plus, it doubles as content for my videos, so it’s killing two birds with one stone.

The next day, Dad drove me back to Nagoya.

“I’ve got some business there too.”
Apparently, the employee handling editing was still new, and there wasn’t anyone else to properly train him.
After seeing how Dad taught me yesterday, it was obvious he’s good at teaching.

“Looks like people really rely on you, Dad.”
“Helping others makes me happy, but having to go all the way to Nagoya every time is a bit of a hassle.”

“About an hour and a half by car?”
“Yeah, around that. But traffic can make it unpredictable.”

“If it stretches to two or three hours, that’d be rough. Might as well take the train.”
“That’s why I usually do.”

“But today you’re driving.”
“I need to transport some equipment, so I don’t have much choice.”

“This might be the first time I’ve really felt like you’re working.”
“Well, I’ve been working from home most of the time. I’ve been a VTuber since you were in elementary school, after all.”

“You really are a big shot… though your name sounds like something a middle schooler would come up with.”
“Ah… apparently, they came up with it on the spot.”
What a brutal confession.

“But since us first-gen livers did well, I guess the higher-ups got carried away.”
“So they thought those kinds of names would work…?”

“I’d appreciate it if you forgot about that…”
“Uh, sure.”
Seeing Dad stare off into the distance, I decided not to press further.

After about an hour and a half of being jostled around in the car, he dropped me off at my place in Nagoya.

“Alright, Yuki, do your best with school and VTubing!
Our collab will probably be around mid-September, so I’m counting on you!”
“Yeah! Thanks for the ride, Dad! Good luck with your streams too!”

“Right! Thanks! I’ll get going then! Drop by during New Year’s or something!”
“I will!”
I waved him off and headed inside.

With two computers now, my workflow improved dramatically.
It really felt like a worthwhile purchase.

Being able to do other tasks while encoding is such a blessing.
It’s not impossible with just one computer, but if something went wrong and I lost data, it’d be a disaster…

Time flew by as I filmed cooking videos and streamed games, and before I knew it, the day of my offline collaboration with Fuwa-chan had arrived.

What should I wear?
Fuwa-chan seemed to like it when I dressed cutely, so maybe I should bring something as a surprise.
Of course, I won’t wear it when we first meet.

But the moment I stepped outside, a thought hit me.
Am I… getting less resistant to cross-dressing…?

“No, no, that can’t be… right?”

The meeting spot was the Silver Clock at Nagoya Station.
We’d be streaming from a nearby karaoke place, so I decided to wait there for Hana-san.

“Ah, sorry for the wait, Yuki-kun!”
Hana-san called out to me.

“It’s okay! I just got here!”
“I see. Phew.”

“Let’s have fun, okay?”
“Um… please go easy on me…?”

“Hehe, what’s that supposed to mean? Anyway, let’s go!”
“Okay!”
Hana-san seemed unusually energetic today.
She must have really been looking forward to this.

For some reason, she held my hand as we walked to the karaoke place and checked in.

We chose an unlimited-time plan so we could stream at a relaxed pace and maybe sing a few songs too.

“Alright, shall we start setting up?”
“Yup!”

“Do you have a laptop, Yuki-kun?”
“Yeah, I just bought one!”

“Ohh, you went out of your way to get one.”
“Should I not have…?”

“No, it’s not that. I brought a spare just in case, so you could’ve used that.”
“You brought two?!”

“Yeah, they belong to the company. When streaming outside, things can go wrong, so they told me to bring a backup for offline collabs.”
“I see…”

“But your laptop seems fine. Once we’re set up, let’s sing a couple songs to warm up.”
“Okay!”

Thanks to my dad’s help earlier, the setup was finished in no time.

“Huh? You’re already done?”
“My dad taught me, so…”

“Oh, I see. As expected of Schwartz-san. He’s not the leader of his generation for nothing.”
“Huh? You knew?”

“Knew what? I figured it out way before it was revealed during the stream.”
“Oh… now that you mention it, he did talk about you…”

“Really?! What did he say?”
“He said you’re dangerous.”

“Ahhhhh!
I totally messed up!”
“I told him, ‘That’s just how Fuwa-chan is,’ and he didn’t know how to respond…”

“You’re pretty mean too, Yuki-kun!”
“Ehehe, sorry.”

“Fine, I forgive you…”
With that, Hana-san finished setting up.
After doing some vocal warm-ups, we were ready.

“Alright, shall we start the stream?”
“Yes!”

“Oh, right, make sure to include the current time in the tags! Otherwise, there could be copyright issues with the karaoke.”
“Got it!”

“Okay, I’m starting the stream.”
“Please do!”
At that moment, I took a deep breath and became Yuka Shirahime.

“Oha-fuwarin, everyoneeee.”
{Good morning, Lis-niis and Lis-nees! It’s me, Yuka Shirahime!}
And just like that, the stream began.

At the end of this chapter, the author mentioned they were accepting reader questions for the upcoming collab stream’s marshmallow corner. I wonder what we’ll get.
There will be seven stream-focused chapters from here on, followed by a thoughts-and-impressions chapter.
