“Here Crim, say ahhh~”
“Ahhh…”

Crim’s eyes were devoid of light, no longer resisting Freya’s orders as she opened her mouth, and Freya shoved some baby castella into it.

The fight with Suzaku was over, and all the audience and food carts had left.

Crim had shrunk in size as a result of using Blaze Blood, and Freya had taken the role of babysitting her again, under the guise of being careful and not leaving any openings. Freya was also watching over Rouge, who looked like Crim’s twin sister now.

While Crim looked so defeated, Freya was in the best mood possible, grinning as she held Crim with her right arm, and Rouge with the left, constantly feeding them sweets. Even her skin seemed to be more shiny now.

“Eheheheh, I’m so blessed to be surrounded by such adorable kids. Rouge, was the crepe good?”
“Y-Yes…it was…very yummy!”

Rouge nodded vigorously, bits of cream still stuck to her lips. She had been stuffing her cheeks with crepes that had a lot of cream, and Freya found great delight in watching that.

While that heavenly scene played on one side…

“Crim, why would you ever decide to use Blaze Blood in a situation like that. Are you stupid?”
“Urk…I have no words to excuse my actions…”

Someone was harshly chastising Crim.

Frey was sitting to the right of them, and he seemed baffled by what he had seen earlier. Crim had no way to break free, so she just hung her head while letting it happen.

Meanwhile, the two Doppelgangers hopped from Rouge’s side across Freya’s shoulders and onto Crim’s head, patting her as if trying to cheer her up.

But she was not the only one who looked dispirited there.

“Hey, Suzaku, cheer up, okay? Here, you can have some of my candy. It’s really good, you know?”
“Do you really expect me to accept that slimy and half eaten candy…”

Suzaku looked depressed, his arms sprawled on the table and his head resting languidly on them. Dark depressing clouds could almost be seen above his head.

At first, Da’at Criferd had teased him calling him weak, but at this point even she had started getting worried and tried to cheer him up…to very little effect.

Seeing him like that at least helped Crim regain her own cool. She began to debate speaking to him, seeing how down he was feeling, and eventually made up her mind and lowered her head.

“Umm… I hope to earn thy forgiveness. I was carried away and ended up committing something most insulting… I shall strive to do better henceforth…”

Crim seemed to honestly regret her own actions.
In response, Suzaku slowly said something.

“Seven times.”
“…Seven times?”

Crim could not quite understand what Suzaku was mumbling about.

“That’s how many times you had the perfect opening to defeat me but didn’t on purpose.”
“…Eek.”

He’s actually mad about it.

Seeing the way Suzaku glared at her as he said that made Crim’s face go pale as she retreated and hugged Freya’s waist. After a short moment, he broke into a smile.

“…I’m kidding. Or rather, I can’t really stay mad seeing you like that.”
“Hrngh…why does that sound so rude though?”
“I might have mixed emotions about it, but I still think that was a fruitful fight, and I got to understand a bit better what it means to be the best player. I also finally understand that I was underestimating the effort it took, so I can’t thank you enough.”
“Is…is that so? That’s good then…”

Hearing Suzaku’s overall positive assessment, Crim let out a sigh of relief.

“One day… I promise I’ll defeat you one day.”
“Heheh, I’ll be waiting then..”

After a quick fist bump, their conflict finally ceased, and they both agreed to hold no grudges about it. With that cleared up, harmony returned to their meeting, and Adonis served them freshly brewed tea.

“By the way, by the end it was almost like I couldn’t see you at all. What was that ability?”
“Ah, I was wondering the same. I was in the audience, but even from there I couldn’t tell what was happening.”
“Oh…that…”

With Suzaku and Frey wanting an answer, Crim took a long sip of tea and seemed to think about it, before starting to smirk teasingly and placing her index on her lips.

“…That’s a trade secret. It’s the secret weapon I developed specifically to counter Sorleon… Heheheh, I’ll really show him who’s boss next time we fight.”

Crim continued to chuckle ominously saying that, and Frey began to feel bad for Sorleon, who had become the rival of someone so unhinged.

“But the way you said that… Does that mean it’s not based on some Skill?”
“No. It’s not a Skill granted to me by the game system. It’s a combat art I researched and practiced from the ground up myself.”

Suzaku was still curious, and Crim replied while puffing her chest with pride, even though she was saying something extremely out of the ordinary.

“…I think I finally understand why I couldn’t defeat you. I need to experiment more for myself, I’m still bound too tightly to common sense.”
“…Yeah, even if I’ve known you my entire life, seeing the things your competitiveness does feels almost like a talent sometimes.”

Suzaku and Frey were slightly caught off guard by Crim’s words, but her ambition was something they both could respect.
