Most of the players that had offered to help rescue Rouge came from fighting-focused guilds, especially from Nord Glacier, but they all struggled to move forward, their movements hampered by the roots and vines Belial controlled, and the rain of blades from Rouge.
But…there was one person who continued moving forward.
“Tsk…what an annoying little girl..!”
On the other side of the battlefield, Belial looked agitated as she watched that person. It was like she was watching a wedge being pushed through, splitting through everything.
That was Crim, her blades dark like the eventide as they cut through Belial’s roots and vines like they were butter. And there was someone right behind her, covering her back.
That was the Dragonblood Hero Suzaku, who had been picked as the new wielder of that red sword by Da’at Criferd.
“Thy strength hath grown considerably!”
“Of course, or were you expecting me to stay as an amateur forever for you to look down on with that cheeky grin!”
Crim was astonished by how swiftly he was moving, keeping perfectly in pace with her as he took down any of Belial attacks aiming for her back. But he did not seem too pleased with being praised like that.
“Still, are you sure your plan is the best idea? I don’t want you to come back crying if things go bad!”
“I know… Just take care of things here!”
Once they had gotten close enough, Crim used her whole body to throw her scythe forward.
“Belial, get ready! Azrael’s Ring..!!”
“Hie…”
The dark scythe spun into a ring as it flew forward, shredding anything it came into contact with while closing in on Belial. Even Belial was terrified by that, so she quickly ducked, and the ring grazed her hair and flew past her.
The ultimate spell from the combination of two types of magic, Ragnarok Weapon. It consumed all the mana of the caster, and had a cooldown of 72 hours, making it a spell that would only rarely be used.
It dealt plenty of physical damage, but its biggest trait was that it ignored all armor, and it forcefully stole the mana from anything it passed through, returning it to the caster.
The constant roots and vines Belial sent that way, as well as the black blades Rouge shot at them, were made from mana, so the moment they came into contact with the spinning scythe, the spell was undone and their mana was taken away. That alone annoyed Belial to no end.
But both sides were aware of that, so when Rouge’s scythe flew at Crim, she did not block the blade, but the handle.
“But you won’t be able to defeat her! She’s a copy of you, enhanced through my power past your limits! And I know you won’t be able to harm her!!”
Just as Belial stated, Rouge’s movements were even faster than Crim’s. On top of that, Crim’s side was forbidden from even grazing Rouge’s body, forcing Crim to stay in the defensive side.
By then Belial was already certain of her victory, but…
“Then…I just have to do this!”
Crim lunged forward, not caring about anything but continuing on. It was almost like she no longer cared about her own safety as she moved closer to Rouge.
“…Huh…what? Huhh?!”
Rouge let out a confused voice, starting to panic as she struggled to understand what was happening, but Crim ignored that and continued hugging her tightly.
“?!?!?!?!?!”
Rouge became confused, being embraced in the midst of a harsh fight like that, and Crim gently whispered in her ear.
“…I apologize, it may hurt for a moment, but I shall not let thy suffering be thine alone. Bear with it…”
After patting Rouge’s head and stopping her from breaking free, Crim grit her teeth in preparation for something, then right after…
“Ghuh..!”
“Ah, ahh…”
A pained groan escaped through Crim’s teeth, and then from Rouge in her arms as well.
“Gh…ack… My… apologies, Suzaku… I truly placed a heavy burden upon thy shoulders…”
“Yeah, I hope you never ask me to do this again. Cutting through a girl’s stomach feels gross…”
A red sword had been plunged into Crim’s back, avoiding her vitals, and pierced right through Rouge on the other side, with the tip poking out behind them.
That was Suzaku’s sword, going right through both Crim and Rouge. He looked disgusted from doing that, his face pale like he was about to throw up. But soon, the thorny mark covering Rouge’s skin started being absorbed into the blade.
Everyone knew that Belial would use Rouge as a shield if things went south. So they discussed what to do about that while they reached the battlefield, and after a lot of deliberation, they settled with that plan.
“Wh-why…big sis…why..!”
“Heh… as I said… I shall not let thy suffering… be thine alone…”
Crim’s face contorted a bit from the dulled pain, but she did her best to smile as she looked down at Rouge.
“Damn you… Get away from there!!”
“Woah—”
Belial shot a thorny vine at them, trying to stop what they were doing, so Suzaku had to pull out his sword to block, while pushing Crim aside.
“I’d say we’re sixty percent there. Can you take care of the rest, Demon Lord?”
“It’s still quite a lot…but I’ll try..!”
After replying to Suzaku, Crim gave Rouge a reassuring nod.
“Hey, Rouge, thy treatment may hurt a bit longer, is that acceptable?”
Rouge looked at Crim with a bit of fear, but then nodded firmly.
“Good girl.”
Patting her head, Crim took a deep breath in preparation for what she would do next.
“I don’t know what you’re planning, but I won’t let you do it!”
“That’s our line…!”
“You won’t get in the way…!”
