The campfire crackled while sending out orange sparks into the night sky.
A cool air surrounded them, while the starry sky was on full display above them. A small pot had been placed on the fire, which Crim stirred while humming.
There was still around an hour before their set time to resume.
Frey and Freya had decided to have dinner at the Mitsuki household as well, and were currently away buying ingredients for that.
Since there was so much time left too, Ryunosuke and Lycoris’ family was nowhere to be seen.
Haru and Suzaku had also sent a message saying they were eating out somewhere, and would be arriving later.
The only ones who had logged back in this early were Crim, and another person sitting next to the campfire.
“Humm, hot springs and skiing?”
“Yes, we figured thou might have an idea of a good place for both.”
As they conversed, Crim stirred the pot again…as it had heated up enough that it began boiling and was about to spill over. She also scooped up a cup of its contents.
All of that seemed a bit superfluous for a game, but everything was depicted with such realism that proper cooking technique helped.
A fragrant aroma wafted from the cup, which also opened the appetite. Crim handed that cup over to the other person there…to Hinagiku.
It was a soup made of salted dried meat, which had a cold-resistance buff that was very useful back in R’lyeh as well.
Since they were planning on continuing their trip through the cold night, it was best to be prepared, so Crim had made enough soup for all the members.
At first Crim was a bit worried that it would be difficult to swallow for an elementary schooler…but there was nothing to worry about. Hinagiku lightly blew on the soup to lower the temperature a bit, then took a sip, and exhaled comfortably.
Just watching that fox girl’s cute mannerisms made Crim smile as well.
“…So you’re looking for a ski resort combined with hot springs? I’ll ask my mother about it.”
“Mhm, I appreciate it.”
Crim thanked Hinagiku, who was so ready to help her.
Hinagiku quickly opened her phone app and called someone, likely her mother Kikyo.
They talked for some time…and once they were done, Hinagiku relayed the results back to Crim.
“…Apparently my mother knows someone who manages a vacation house with hot springs and is close to a skiing site. She could ask them for information if you want.”
“…Are you sure?!”
“Yes. But there’s a high chance that you’ll have to stay there together with my mother’s friends… Or rather, they already asked my mother to make a reservation.”
“So…could we really stay there at the same time?”
“Yes, my mother said that she knows you so it’ll be completely fine.”
That did not sound too bad…so Crim nodded.
“Alright, let her know we’ll go too then. Actually, we just had the idea earlier, so maybe we should ask our parents for permission first.”
“Okay, I’ll get the reservation details and costs from my mother later and text them over to you.”
“That sounds good, thanks Hinagiku.”
“Eheheh… I’m glad I could help.”
Crim patted Hinagiku’s head while thanking her, making the young girl giggle happily…and then Crim tried a bit of her soup too, after removing all of the meat pieces.
Then, after a deep breath…
“So you were planning on staying there past Christmas, but before the year ends, right?”
Hinagiku suddenly brought that up.
“Hm? Ah, yes, that’s what we were planning…”
“Have you thought of extending your stay into the next year?”
“So…would that mean spending New Years there?”
Hinagiku nodded, confirming Crim’s question.
“I just got a text from my mother, she says she wants to ask you something… Would you all like to stay with us for New Years and do some part time work?”
