While Hinagiku and Lycoris gained the upper hand in their fights…Kasumi alone was struggling, unable to get close enough to the orb to attack.
She was starting to get desperate, unable to deal any significant damage… But she remained focused, constantly tracking the orb and looking for an opportunity.
*…I’m not ultra talented like Hinagiku and Lycoris. And I’m also not a no-lifer like the rest…or at least I think so, lately I’m not so sure.*
*I know better than anyone that I’m just an average person. I just got into the top guild because I was friends with them in real life.*
“But…so what..!”
*I just continued chasing after the orb, evading its fire and swinging my crescent blade when I could. There’s nothing else I could do anyway.*
“The Ditzy Lord…entrusted this to me..!”
*I was happy when it happened.*
*It meant that she trusted me enough to place such an important mission on my hands.*
“So I’ll give it my best and do iiittttt!!”
«EX Drive unlocked»
*As soon as that notification showed up, I put the new addition to my arsenal to practice.*
“EX Drive activated, Spiral Booster!!”
As Kasumi shouted that, three pairs of elliptical translucent wings of a glowing blue color like a fairy’s appeared on her back. But they were not physical wings, and instead were the result of amassing a large amount of energy in one place before releasing it.
*It’s time to spread these butterfly wings.*
A high pitched sound began revving up, almost like it was shouting that.
“Grr… Let’s gooooooooooooo!!”
The scenery around her seemed to fly past her as her whole body was assaulted by an incredibly high amount of G forces.
The distance separating her from the fleeing orb was closed in an instant, and Kasumi did her best to hold her spear aimed at it.
Eventually, she struck something solid and she felt it through her entire arm, but she continued pressing forward, wanting to deal more damage.
*Crack*
Unable to bear with that speed and power, a crack finally appeared on the orb, which only grew larger as Kasumi’s weapon continued pushing into it.
“…!”
She had been so focused on the attack that she had missed the incoming wall…no, the ground in front of her.
At some point, her body had risen high up in the air, and now was falling back at a tremendous speed.
A sudden sense of vertigo turned her stomach upside down, but determined to not let her enemy escape, she held her crescent blade with both hands and braced for the impact.
Then…leaving a glowing blue trail like a comet behind her, she crashed into the ground.

…It was hard to categorize the guild Lua Cheia as a group of tryhards, if anything they all just wanted to have fun.
They would never fuss over chasing rare bosses, or fight over the loot they got.
Everyone just did their own thing, deciding things on the fly, and everyone had their own personal goals to pursue.
…But despite that freedom, everyone was strong as well.
“…I guess ‘friends’ really is the most appropriate name for them.”
Maybe that was why being part of them felt so comfortable. Setsuna had initially joined that guild with a calculated and pragmatic goal in mind, but as time went on, she came to treasure being there.
…Setsuna had always had a particular dream.
Her father had worked for the police, in an elite group kept extremely secret. He was not even allowed to talk about it with his family.
He was almost like a superhero, and she was proud of him because of that. When she was small, he would tell her stories…not out of picture books, but his own experiences, which sometimes felt even more fantastical than those of children’s books.
He told her of a pretty and beautiful princess that looked like an angel, but had to shoulder a terrible fate.
That princess had a very blunt and sharp attitude, but she adored a certain male swordsman more than anything.
She also had an older brother, a prince, who was always sarcastic but secretly cared for others, and also would become overprotective over the princess.
There was also a magician who spoke in a funny way, a womanizer sniper…and even a weird shrine maiden who was obsessed with blades. Though that last one felt oddly familiar to Setsuna.
Her father’s stories were not all sunshine and rainbows either, and he had gone through plenty of hardships as well.
But she knew for sure that they all experienced them together, sharing those experiences.
…Growing up hearing those stories obviously made Setsuna admire those stories, and she wished to also find such a group of friends to go on adventures together.
…She always dreamed of finding such a friend group where she could also fit in.
“At this rate, I’ll want to help them more than my *job* requires me to do…!”
She had been warned to be mindful of her actions, not just by her father but the *director* as well. Still, deciding she could claim she was having too much fun and got carried away…she shook away her hesitation and decided to use her full abilities.
“…EX Drive… Dancing Blade!!”
As she shouted that, countless black blades and pins made of energy began to float around her.
The weapons seemed tied by black threads, looking like a spidernest, and they all flew out to enclose the orb.
*…Time to end this!*
“Take this, my father’s legacy… Setsunaaa!!”
As the black weapons restrained and tied down the orb, leaving it defenseless, she unleashed the ability that was also the namesake of her character…
