“Alright, everyone, attention, attention!”
Ms. Matilda brought up the latest measurement results on the display board. When Hom’s name appeared at the top, the classmates erupted into congratulatory applause.
Hom had been enhanced by me during her alchemy process with maximized skeletal strength, muscle strength, dynamic vision, and reflexes, along with improved flexibility, cell activity, natural healing ability, aether adaptability, mecha soldier adaptability, and spatial awareness.
This mecha soldier adaptability, which maximized compatibility with the Legion, had been designed to produce a perfect score of 100. Seeing the result confirmed that my alchemical enhancements had worked as intended, and I felt relieved.
Following Hom’s name, Farah’s was displayed next. As Isaac had shouted earlier, her mecha aptitude score was an impressive 98. Next came my own score of 95, which prompted Vannabelle to let out a surprised shriek.
“What!? I lost to Leafa!?”
“Well, my score reflects compatibility with a custom unit made specifically for me. If we measured it with the same unit, the results might’ve been different.”
Vannabelle had scored 93, Lili-Lulu 90, Numelin 88, and even Alfe performed admirably with a score of 81. Eight members of Class F had scored over 80, and based on the aptitude rankings, it looked like Hom, Farah, and I would be the team submitting an application for the Zersteller—Canalford Cup.
“Still, a perfect 100 is amazing. Hom, did you also get some special unit custom-made for you?”
“No, I was created that way by my Master.”
“Huh?”
Vannabelle seemed unable to fully grasp Hom’s response, her eyes widening in confusion.
“Nyahaha! Since she’s a homunculus, it’s her body that was tailored to match. Amazing, both Hom and Leafa1!”
“Lady Farah’s 98 is almost perfect as well. I think it’s incredible.”
“Thanks. To be honest, I was pretty confident,” Farah said with a wry smile, scratching her feline ears before turning to face Mr. Tanutanu. “By the way, Mr. Tanutanu, there’s something I’d like to try.”
“Having such enthusiasm is a good thing. What is it?” Mr. Tanutanu asked back with genuine interest in Farah’s sudden statement.
“Would it be possible to have a mock battle between a 100 and a 98 right now?” Farah said, locking eyes with Hom. It was an unexpected suggestion, but rather than being surprised, Hom looked genuinely pleased.
“Hahaha! Feeling motivated, eh, Farah? I was hoping to see this myself!”
“As expected of you, teacher! You’re something else!” Vannabelle clenched her fist excitedly, clearly energized by Mr. Tanutanu’s approval.
“Wow, both Farah and Hom are amazing,” Alfe said, her curiosity about their battle written all over her face.
The other students showed their agreement with enthusiastic applause, encouraging the two to step forward in front of the Legion.
A mock battle using the Legions between Hom and Farah? This was going to be quite the spectacle. While it would be Hom’s first time piloting a mecha soldier, I was eager to see what kind of fight she would put on.
