After being brought to Torch Town with the help of my father’s Löwe, Hom was taken to the Black Dragon Lantern Clinic.

Normally, with Ars Magna in my possession, I could heal her injuries completely with magic. However, since my father had seen the state of her injuries, I wanted to avoid revealing that I could use magic beyond my usual capabilities.

Hom’s injuries included bruises all over her body and two broken ribs1. However, thanks to Alfe’s initial healing magic and her naturally high recovery ability, she was expected to be discharged within a week.

During that time, I began cultivating Almoria Grass in a liquid medium to create a culture fluid. After collecting the culture fluid over several days, I filtered it to make a clarified solution of Almoria Grass. As I dedicated myself to this task, a week passed, and Hom returned from the hospital.

I had entrusted Hom with collecting some of my mother’s somatic cells, and she managed to obtain some skin samples. Originally, these were collected during a Black Stone Disease test, where fine-needle aspiration cytology was performed. Thanks to the skill of the doctor, I received a fresh sample of the healthy skin tissue I had requested.

Now that all the necessary materials were gathered, I could begin the synthesis of the Black Stone Disease Suppressant. The process started with mixing the clarified Almoria solution with my mother’s skin tissue to create the base reagent. The suppressant, designed by Glass, worked by establishing the healthy cells replicated from the Almoria solution in the affected areas of the patient, thereby restoring the original healthy cells and halting the progression of the disease.

In principle, it was simple, but getting the cells restored by the Almoria solution to settle into the human body was quite challenging. Glass conducted 38,625 experiments and successfully synthesized a human body mimic solution, similar to the body’s natural substances, allowing the Almoria solution to integrate with the human body. That was the significant difference between my past self and today’s young researchers.

This success was largely due to the fact that Glass himself had been afflicted with the Black Stone Disease. Despite being in a desperate situation, he managed to formulate a liquid closely resembling the composition of human cells—65% oxygen, 18% carbon, 10% hydrogen, 3% nitrogen, 1.5% calcium, 1% phosphorus, 0.9% trace elements, and 0.6% microelements—by combining magic stone powders of fire, water, wind, earth, and lightning.

The formulation process and the precise quantities of each powder were incredibly complex. It was only by translating the experimental results into mathematical formulas through Code Alchemy that he could finally achieve a high level of reproducibility.

Since the experimental procedure was managed through formulas, it was challenging to synthesize this human body mimic solution without referring to Ars Magna for detailed steps. If there’s one thing to praise my past self for, it would be for preserving this procedure. Ideally, I would have preferred it to be shared with future alchemists and medical researchers.

Nevertheless, the successful synthesis of the Black Stone Disease Suppressant allowed us to proceed with a preliminary verification experiment conducted by Mr. Lionel and others at St. Salaius Middle School before taking it to the Black Dragon Lantern Clinic.

Because this was a new treatment method not yet established as a standard procedure, my parents had to sign documents acknowledging that they would take full responsibility for any side effects or long-term consequences. After completing the necessary paperwork, we were finally ready to inject the suppressant into my mother’s affected area.

Since I wasn’t qualified to administer the injection myself, the attending physician took over the procedure2. My mother, however, was more relaxed about receiving the treatment than I was.

“Leafa, look…”

An hour after the injection, following a required period of rest, I was allowed to visit my mother. She stood up from the bed and showed me her arm, now free of the characteristic spots of Black Stone Disease.

“Mother…”

Though we knew it was in the early stages, the results exceeded my expectations. Not only had the disease’s signs disappeared from her arm, but she also seemed relieved from the fatigue that had likely plagued her for a long time.

“Thank you, Leafa. I’ve always believed in you3. I’m so grateful that you’re safe… truly, thank you.”
“I feel the same, Mother…”

As my mother embraced me, I felt a surge of emotion welling up inside. Harvesting the Almoria Grass had been incredibly dangerous, but to be here like this again… how fortunate I was.

“Thank you too, Hom.”
“It was for Master’s sake.”

Hom bowed her head slowly in response to my mother’s words of gratitude. Perhaps it was just my imagination, but her expression seemed to carry a hint of happiness.
