“First, what do you know about the demon kingdom?”

“It’s ruled by the 3 major demon households?”

Or at least that was the story in the game. The Kingdom of Abyssia, although a united kingdom, it didn’t have one ruler. Instead, it was equally ruled by 3 of the strongest Mazoku ever. In the game, they were level 300 NPC’s. Probably as strong as endgame raid bosses. I didn’t know however since the game didn’t give you a chance to fight them.

“Correct. But it wasn’t always like that.”

Yufi got down from the bed and took over the story telling.

“I was once the proud ruler of the Kingdom of Abyssia. And I had a dream of peace. World wide peace. However, I lost almost all my powers and… you know, it’s kind of hard to explain. So I’ll just show you.”

“But, mistress, you need to conserve your…”

“It’s alright, Helga. I won’t even break a sweat with just this much.”

In the next moment, Yufi lifted her left index finger. A small blue light orb appeared at the tip of her finger. And in the next moment… my vision went dark.

This place is…

When I came to, a landscape that I have never seen before was spread out before my eyes. Not even a single blade of grass could be seen in these dark and barren lands and lava was ceaselessly flowing out from the volcanoes that I could see in various places. Fissures on the land was deep to the point where their bottoms couldn’t be seen. Far out into the distance, there was a mountain range so high that it looked like it was touching the sky, and under the cliffs, there were new lands endlessly being created and destroyed. Unstable world where terrain changes multiple times overnight. If my knowledge was correct, this place was…..

Is this the Demon Realm?

Demon Realm…. the place where Yufine was. Then I might be looking at Yufi’s dream right now. In the game, there isn’t any skill like memory sharing… but one who could draw the image of the Demon Realm so vividly… only ‘Yufi’ who knew scenery of that place very well. I felt like a ghost in here.

Is Yufi over there?

I could see a blinding stream of light falling from far way. It was only an intuition, but it felt like Yufi would be there at the place where the stream of light fell. Stream of light fell once more into the middle of the pandemonium. I saw surrounding demons turn into dusts and disappear.

….That’s… Yufi…?

In the middle, there was a demon woman with long white hair and voluptuous breasts standing and looking at the cloudy sky. For some reason she looked dreadfully lonely. But I could tell for certain. She was ‘Yufi’ before she lost her power. Yufi stood still without a word for a long while then finally lowered her gaze to look at the demons that had amassed before her eyes again.

Yufi, watch-….!

The moment demons jumped at Yufi all at once, for some reason my vision turned dark and the world started getting covered in darkness.

After opening my eyes carefully, the world had become brighter as if the darkness from before had never existed. As I looked around, a different scenery came into my eyes.

Yufi and an unknown male demon were facing off with each other. Yufi’s demonic energy was also incomparably large than before, but this other demon’s demonic energy was horrifyingly enormous.

Two of their energies swayed then turned into blinding lights. Two forms of light clashed and created a giant explosion.

???: Kaaaaaaaah!!!

Yufine: Haaaaaaah!!!

A quake that shook both the sky and earth continued on for a while, then when it finally settled, I could see two demons standing amidst the thick grey smoke. Yufi and the unknown demon both had vague smiles on their faces, but their eyes looked like they haven’t let their guards down.

???: How about we stop this pointless fight now? …. All your battles so far, you should already know. Battles without any purpose, just for the sake of protecting what you have, wasn’t it hollow? You just have a childish dream.

I couldn’t hear everything they were talking but his last words flowed into me. ‘Come to me. I’ll give you something that no one else could give you, a grand purpose and the future that you can grasp with your own hands!’

Yufine: …….!

Yufi’s expression seemed to change then the world turned dark again all of a sudden.

When I opened my eyes again, I felt the giant demonic energy from before surrounding my entire body.

???: …….

There was that unknown demon who was with Yufi and what looked like his 4 subordinates were standing under him. The major issue was that… Yufi was also amongst those 4 subordinates. Yufi looked around at her surroundings with an expression filled with determination.

‘They are Hollow-Eye King Necron, Red-Demon King Sandcrest, White-Ghost King Aegirp…..’

Yufi’s thoughts flowed into my mind. And various scenes flashed before me. Yufi led her legion into battle countless times. Other demon lords had no choice but to kneel before her power.

The battles that felt endless started to end as the grand goal of unification of the Demon Realm which had been just a vague dream had approached before everyone’s eyes. The demon who unified the Demon Realm… Yufi proclaimed herself the Demon Queen. However. The unknown demon let out a rather despicable grin and the world became shrouded in darkness again. It was a very deep…..darkness of the abyss.

When the darkness subsided and I opened my eyes… I saw Yufi’s startled face.

Yufi…!!

But my shout wasn’t heard. Yufi was tied up in chains. I ran up to her and tried to untie the chains strangling her body but my hands just passed through the chains.

Yufine: You…. how dare you…!?

The one who was standing in front of Yufi while smiling sinisterly was Yufi’s general, the unknown demon called Bassar. Bassar made a nasty smile as he approached Yufi.

Bassar: Kuhaha, please don’t move. It will only become more painful…

Yufine: These chains… Where did you obtain them? To be able to restrain my vast demonic aura… Untie me right now! If you stop this right now I’ll at least spare your life…

Bassar snapped his fingers as if he didn’t want to listen to her. With that, another chain came flying and stabbed right Yufi’s chest.

No!!!!!!!

But once again my shout wasn’t noticed.

Bassar: Equality for everyone? Don’t make me laugh. You should know that royalty has the right to treat commoners however they want.

Along with a terrifying scream, Yufi was swallowed up by a great darkness along with the chains. The world became dark once again.

I heard a painful groan. I opened my eyes again to look around. I saw Yufi who had her entire body restrained by chains.

Damn it…. Damn it…! Break, break!!!!

My hands didn’t reach the chains. I couldn’t even touch them. I had no choice but to helplessly watch Yufi struggle amidst her suffering.

I knew that this was only her memory. I knew that this was merely a dream, that she won’t be able to see me, that I was merely an observer in this dream.

Even still, I couldn’t stand it. Memories of the nobles that burned my house and kill Levia resurfaced. I hated myself for being so powerless, so weak, so stupid.

She doesn’t have to suffer anymore if I could just break those chains…. I’m in front of her right now….

It won’t work after all….? Kugh!

I felt the world becoming darker once again. Yufi’s appearance was gradually disappearing into the darkness. I silently closed my eyes. Please let this dream end already….

But the sight in front of me coldheartedly became brighter again. I could still see Yufi who was restrained by the chains. Lu had her head lowered and was murmuring something while not even moving a muscle.

In the next moment a small portal appeared, and Helga came out of it. At the same time Yufi felt that a chain had moved very slightly for an instant. The power of the barrier had weakened. She might be able to break through like this. She started to bring out all of the remaining power she had to start applying force on the chains.

Much as she brought out her power, pained returned in equal amounts. It felt like her mind and body would crumble at any moment as she struggled desperately to escape from the chains that were now shining intensely. Even the powers to maintain her base form must have been depleted because Yufi’s body was gradually becoming smaller. But Yufi didn’t give up and pressured the chains up to her utmost limit.

Little more… Just a little more…!! Come on… you can do it!

Cracks started forming on the chains. When the chains finally shattered, Yufi’s body weakly started to fall to the bottom, but was caught by Helga. The 2 of them passed through the portal. The scenery once again turned dark and for an instant, I heard Yufi’s voice in my head again.

‘Thank you, Onee-chan. I was right about you after all. You’re… just like me.”
