“I really end up being dragged in all sorts of stuff.”

“Yeah. Trouble always seems to follow you.”

After the whole tournament thing I left the academy and am now sitting at a small restaurant and having a chat with the female knight.

“I just hope the nobles will just let it go like that. You hurt their pride pretty bad. I said that I wanted a commoner to win, but you were too much.”

“If they try something funny I’ll just blow them away. Anyway, how did those guys even manage to capture such a monster? With their power it should have been impossible.”

“I don’t know the details, but the rumors say that the monster was already captured by some magical chains created by the former Demon King. It seems that the demon king didn’t bother to kill it and only chained it. Somehow the chairman found a way to take control of those chains. So this way he could unleash it whenever he wanted.”

I see. I thought it was strange for humans of that level to be able to catch something like that. In fact, even I got tired. I’m glad it wasn’t an actual endgame raid boss. The 3 major endgame raids were level 300 bosses. I managed to solo one of them… but it took me 30 minutes. Normal people wouldn’t even bother to waste time like that, given how grindy Astral Storm Online was. But I did it for the thrill. However in this world, given multiple factors… I’m not sure I could do the same thing. And speaking of levels…

“Hey, is there a leveling limit?”

“Limit?”

“You know. Is there a number you can’t go beyond?”

“Not that I’m aware of. The former Demon King was a legend that reached almost the status of a God. Around level 900 or so according to the stories.”

900!? I almost choked when I heard that. While there were event NPC’s stronger than the players, a number that high was never mentioned.

“Is that why you researched the library?”

“Something like that. Now that I recall you said something about a rumor of some old guy.”

“Yeah. Although please keep it a secret. It’s not actually allowed to circulate.”

The female knight started to tell me a story. Apparently in the forest that makes up the border between Magnolia and Hestyia there is a hermit. An old man that lived long. And he found a way of leveling aside from killing monsters for exp. The Warmaster is indeed the strongest recorded human. With a big emphasis on recorded. This old man is supposed to be even stronger than her. But since it’s just a rumor… nobody verified it.

It’s probably a good time to mention that Mazoku are generally stronger than humans.

“Well, it was fun, but I need to head back to the village. I only came for the tournament.”

“Oh, before you go, is there a place where you can get a class advancement?”

“Hmm… you’re best bet would be the temple of the Goddess. They won’t turn you down.”

“Aight. Have a safe trip and thanks for everything.”

“I should be saying that.”

After I parted with the female knight, I went back to fetch Elenore and Tia. After our adventures and all the sex I had with them they are finally in the level 30 range, so it’s time for them to get their first class advancement. I’m actually curious myself if it’s the same process like in the game. So we headed out for the church.

The church was more like a temple. It didn’t resemble any modern day church. We walked up some stairs and were greeted by a nun. She guided us to the main altar where a priest was waiting for us. I told him my story. I told him that I want a class change for Elenore and Tia. He had a friendly smile and had nothing against us, but he did want to charge us for using his statue.

Apparently, the church’s class change comes from the statue of the Goddess. In the game you would just talk to a specific NPC, so I am really curious how this statue works. They charged 500 lila for Elenore and Tia. That means a total of 1000 for both. Right now I do have funds and this is a necessary investment. They won’t be able to evolve otherwise. So I went and paid, and with that we were allowed to use the statue.

“Simply place your hand at the base of the statue, and the Goddess will show you in your mind the available classes.”

So that’s how it works. After explaining the process he left us alone. Elenore was first and when she placed her hand on the statue, it emitted a pale green glow.

“Wow. This is incredible! There are so many options… I don’t even know what I want.”

To be honest it can be confusing. If there are the same amount of classes like in the game, then it’s really hard to choose one.

“Might I make a suggestion? Elenore, can you see a class called Dark Templar?”

Elenore closed her eyes and focused for a few seconds.

“Yes. I can see it. But doesn’t it sound kind of scary?”

“I would recommend that class for you.”

In Astral Storm Online the Dark Templar route evolves into Violent Executor and eventually into Nemesis. It’s a synergy type class. It doesn’t bring that much damage, but what it does excel at are holds. No raid boss is immune to holds. Basically there are skills that will lock the boss in place anywhere between 2 to 7 seconds. Usually this allows the dps to fire all his nukes and even skip certain boss phases.

For some reason I get the feeling that this route would fit Elenore the most.

“Okay then. I’ll trust you, Izuna!”

After she said that, she once again closed her eyes. This time, a purple light enveloped Elenore’s body. And when the light faded away…

“It worked! I feel the power flowing through me!”

Good. When she’ll level a bit more she’ll finally unlock some useful skills.

“My turn. What about me? Izuna, what you think I should aim for?”

To be honest because Tia’s eyes are so amazing I gotta say that going into a full archer is the route for her.

“See if you can find a class called Sniping Ranger.”

“Okay.”

Sniping Ranger evolves into Grand Archer which eventually becomes Celestial Archer. Various arrow skills, powerful defense penetration and big aoe while under the protection of range are the perks that come for this line.

“I can feel it!”

Tia was also enveloped by a purple aura.

“Oh, wow! This is amazing! It’s like I’m a new person!”

Even I can feel their increase in power.

“Well, let’s go home for now and call it a day.”

We gave our thanks to the priest and we left the temple. But as soon as we reached the bottom of the staircase, Tia tugged on my sleeve.

“Hey, Izuna. Look at that smoke!”

I looked in the direction Tia was pointing. The smoke is rather thick. Was it caused by a fire or something? Wait!! The direction it’s coming from… it’s coming from my home! Levia is still there!

“Hang on, girls!”

I grabbed both Tia and Elenore by the waist and dashed like a maniac. I need to get there as fast as possible!
