The call of nature… That was something that could happen to anyone, regardless of time or location, like seconds before an agreed meetup, and everyone had to learn to deal with it.
The group had been walking around the arcade to pass the time, drinking juice and tea, when Hinagiku, Miyuki, and Kasumi all had that urge at the same time. It was not something they could just ignore, but they also were afraid of missing Sora, who would meet them at the food court.
They had to leave at least someone behind to tell him what happened, but they were also worried about the two younger girls, even if they were accompanied by the class president.
So in the end, they decided that Kou and Hijiri would wait for Sora, while Subaru escorted the other girls to the toilet. Even though…
“We’ll wait for Uncle Sora here, so just go with Hinagiku and the rest, okay?”
“I’m actually more worried about you two…”
“Ahahah, don’t worry. There’s plenty of people around here, and he’ll be here any minute now, so it’ll be okay.”
Subaru was still unsure, but Hijiri just laughed it away. Hinagiku and Miyuki were their guests, and quite young, so it made sense to watch over them the most. Kou was also going to be with Hijiri, so Subaru knew that if things got ugly, she would take care of things… But that did little to appease his worries.
“…Knowing how Kou is now, I guess you’ll be alright unless something extraordinary happens… Still, seeing you two… Well, Hijiri, just be careful if anyone tries to hit on you, alright?”
“I know, don’t worryyy. Instead, just watch over them like a good older brother.”
Subaru did not look fully convinced, but he stopped arguing and went with the rest to accompany them to the women’s toilet.
And he was barely gone when…
“Heyy, you two look pretty cute. Wanna hang out for a bit?”
“We know some places around here, we’ll make it worth your time.”
Kou obviously stood out a lot, and Hijiri was just as beautiful, with a kind aura to her. It was no surprise that both of them quickly became the targets for those two guys who instantly went there to try their shots, wide grins on their faces.
◇◇◇
“I’m really sorry. I appreciate the invitation, but we’re already with family and friends.”
Kou was clearly displeased and fell silent seeing them approach, so Hijiri had to force a smile to reject them, politely bowing as well. She knew from experience that most guys like that would accept that reply and leave without causing much of a fuss, but…
I don’t think they’re leaving.
Maybe the heat of summer was getting to them, as they became stubborn and refused to leave, so Kou began to prepare herself to leave if necessary.
Hijiri had more experience with such situations, so she calmly looked around through the corner of her eye, and once she saw that some of the people nearby were starting to look for the mall’s security, she shifted gears to stalling mode, trying to buy time until someone came to their aid.
“That hair looks so cool though. How did you bleach it like that? Why don’t we go somewhere quiet so you can tell me what you did to get it so white and pretty?”
The two guys seemed oblivious to the reaction of Hijiri and Kou, and one of them wrapped his arm around Kou’s shoulders in an overly familiar manner while saying that.
This feels so gross.
He probably thought that the stubble he kept looked cool, but to Kou it just looked like filth. She also felt asphyxiated by the excessive amount of cheap pheromone cologne he was using.
The smile he likely thought was dashing, clearly revealed his true intentions, making her feel like vomiting.
Even his clothes were unkempt and with no sleeves, likely done with the intention of showing off his muscles, but even those looked like jelly and hung loosely, like he had only gone to the gym once and then never again.
I see, so this is what it means to be unable to physically stand someone.
Kou stared at him with cold eyes, spouting all sorts of abuse in her mind, but he did not seem to notice any of that, as he simply continued blabbering nonsensically while trying to pull Kou’s body closer to him.
Meanwhile, the other guy was reaching out to Hijiri.
“I think I like you better. I mean, I almost want to ask you to just say goodbye to your family so we can run away together…heh?”
Just as he was about to take hold of her arm, he noticed a small white hand grabbing his wrist. He seemed confused for a moment, before turning to look at Kou, who he thought was being kept busy by his companion…
“…Don’t you dare touch her.”
“Huh?”
Kou’s face was turned down and her voice was shaky. Seeing her like that, he assumed she was too scared to resist in a more firm manner and tried to intimidate her into submission but…
“Don’t make me say it again… Don’t…Touch…HER.”
“..?!”
His eyes widened, and she raised her head to stare straight into him, her showing no fear, but just an endless expanse of rage.
There even seemed to be a physical reaction, like a shockwave that spread from Kou and caused ripples on the water in all the paper cups on nearby tables.
At the same time, she put more pressure on the wrist she had caught, making the bones creak as the guy began to whimper in pain, his face slowly contorting with fear.
“Umm…Kou…that’s…that’s enough…”
Even Hijiri realized things could get dangerous, as everyone else nearby fell silent and watched afraid. She was about to stand up to try to stop Kou when…
“Hello there, mind telling me what you’re doing with my daughter and her friend?”
A pair of hands plopped down on the guys’ shoulders. The owner of those hands, Sora, who had just arrived, seemed to grin at the two guys, even if his eyes were dead serious.
“Ah…owwwww!!”
“Who…who’s this old man… Let…arghhh?!”
Even though Sora was just holding their shoulders, it seemed like he was using an immense amount of force, making both of them groan in pain. Seeing that made even Kou’s head cool down, regardless of how enraged she had been moments earlier.
“Okay, can you two wait for a bit longer? I need to leave these two with security.”
“Hey…let go alrea- Ack?!”
“This old man is so… Gyaahhh!”
“Hahahah, who are you calling an old man? Why don’t we talk about that for a bit, hm?”
Sora’s voice remained light hearted, but his fingers dug deeper into their shoulders each time they called him an old man. The two continued shouting in pain as Sora dragged them out of the food court.
“Psst, Kou… Does Uncle Sora know how to fight other guys?”
“Hm…hmm? All mom said was that when it came down to it, he knew what to do, or something like that…”
Kou and Hijiri were both shocked by what they had witnessed, only having known Sora as a kindhearted father. Either way, the danger was gone and Kou could heave a sigh of relief.
“Hey, Kou?”
“Wh-What is it, Hijiri… Woah?!”
Kou let out a cry of surprise as she was suddenly embraced into Hijri’s bosom. But Hijiri paid that little attention as she stroked Kou’s hair, and spoke with a slightly admonishing voice.
“I know you got so mad for me… But…try to not do anything dangerous in real life, okay?”
“Ah…”
“I know Amari keeps telling us how strong you are now, but even with all of that power…you’re still a girl, you know?”
“…You’re right. Sorry.”
There were times when Kou would slip a bit into her persona as Crim Lua Cheia, as she looked exactly the same way. But it was only in-game that she could behave like an all-mighty Demon Lord.
Here in real life, she could easily get carried away and cross a line she would never be able to come back from…especially as a girl.
“Good… That’s enough lecturing for now. At the same time, thank you for standing up for me. You were really cool.”
“O-Okay…”
Hijiri added that with a happy giggle and continued hugging Kou, whose face gradually turned redder as she noticed that everyone around them was watching and could not wait to get free…
Afterword:
I can’t quite tell if this counts as yuri or not…but curses upon any man who tries to get between them!
