Sora returned from dealing with those guys, and everyone went to an Italian chain restaurant to eat lunch, followed by dessert and coffee afterwards.

“By the way, were you about to lose control when those guys came, Kou?”
“…Yeah…”

Sora was sitting in front of Kou, and when he asked, Kou’s body twitched slightly, then she hesitantly nodded. He grimaced slightly hearing that, and then placed his hand on her head.

“You should be grateful that Hijiri was there to stop you… Do you know what would happen if you punched someone without holding back with that body?”

Sora lowered his voice so only Kou could hear him and asked that, which made Kou gasp. If they were lucky, they would end up in the hospital. But more than likely, something irreparable would have happened.

“Well, I think you do know, judging from that reaction… Maybe it’s time you start learning how to properly control your strength. Being stronger than the average human carries the responsibility of knowing how to control your emotions and show restraint, do you understand?”
“…Yes, I’m sorry.”

It was rare for Sora to be so stern with his words, so Kou listened and gave a meek nod. Seeing that she seemed to be honestly reflecting on her actions, Sora’s countenance softened, and then he clapped to mark the end of that conversation.

“Then again, it all happened because you wanted to protect yourself and Hijiri, so I can’t really blame you too much…so enough of that.”

Hearing that, Kou was finally able to relax again. Sora watched her for a bit, and then looked around at the rest of the group, having a question for everyone.

“I know it might be a bit weird to ask right after we had lunch, but is there anything you’d like to have for dinner tonight?”

When Sora switched topics, everyone began to chime in with suggestions, and eventually…

“We don’t get to hang out in real life too often, so it could be fun to cook together…”

Hijiri said that while casually sipping some black tea, while everyone stood still and blinked for a bit…

“ “ “That’s it!!” ” ”

Everyone replied in unison, which shocked Hijiri, even though she had been the one who brought up the idea.

And so, they decided that they would use the leftover coal and firewood from the previous day to prepare curry in the garden’s hut together. However, it would take too long to properly prepare beef curry that would melt in their mouths.

Instead, they decided that it would be more time-efficient to prepare a more common pork curry and then went to buy all the necessary ingredients before heading home.

“Ohhh Hinagiku, you actually know how to use a knife really well.”
“Eheheh, my mother taught me how since I help her out sometimes.”

Hinagiku was using a ceramic knife for kids to cut carrots to size. Hijiri was watching over her, and was left impressed by Hinagiku’s skills, who did not need to be taught anything to get to work.

On the other hand…

“Ah, be careful there Miyuki.”
“Huh… Hyah?!”
“Okay okay, try to prop it steady on the cutting board like this, and then move the peeler more carefully so you don’t slice yourself… Miyuki?”
“Awawawahh…”

Miyuki had no experience whatsoever in the kitchen, so Subaru had to teach her how to do everything.

Her mother Sara often had to work the night shift, so Ryunosuke took care of most of the housework, and he never let Miyuki near any fire or sharp objects since it could be dangerous, proving that there was such a thing as being too overprotective, considering the current situation.

Now, Subaru was standing behind her, his hands on top of hers to show her how to correctly hold everything, but since he was much taller, it ended up looking like he was embracing her, making her face flush red. But he was too oblivious to notice the effect he was having on her emotions.

Seen from afar, it was clear that no girl would allow a guy to stand so closely without looking disgusted unless she had a special form of feelings for him, which made Kou wish guys like Subaru would just explode

Sora was also there, enjoying his time, as he brought out his favorite camping equipment to cook some rice out in the garden.

“Mitsuki…sniff… are you sure I can stay too?”

Kou was standing in front of an induction stove, and next to her was Kasumi, who was doing her best to resist crying from the onions she was cutting. Kasumi was cutting the onions that would be cooked with the curry, while Kou was preparing some caramelized onions in a separate thick pot.

“Ahahah, don’t worry, you’re more than welcome here. And the food is always tastier the more guests there are, right?”
“Ah…yes, I guess so!”

With Kou approving of her joining in, Kasumi returned to chopping onions. Seeing her go, Kou smiled a bit and then continued stirring her own onions.

“By the way Kou, do you have any plans for tonight? After dinner and bathing, I mean.”
“Ahh… I mean, I guess we could just play games like last night… Though I’d also like to know how things are going over there, so maybe I’ll go for a bit.”

Kou replied to Hijiri’s question without really thinking about it too much.

“I’ll go too then.”
“Ah, I also want to go before sleeping!”
“Me too, please let me go too!”

Subaru, Hinagiku, and Miyuki quickly voiced their intent to join her, which took Kou by surprise. Hijiri and Kasumi just looked at each other, and shook their heads a little saying, “They really are a bunch of gamers,” but they were not opposed to joining as well.

“…Alright, does tonight at ten sound good then? But if you’re sleepy don’t force yourself.” Kou wrapped things up saying that, and everyone replied positively.

…Kou was still intrigued from her conversation earlier that day with Suzaku, when they discussed the progress on the fifth floor.

The players had explored around half of the fifth floor, R’lyeh’s Great Magic Library, but things had started to look different there.

The map had turned into a sort of grid of countless interconnected halls, repeating the boss rush that had existed at the end of all the previous floors. But the enemies were not just repeats of the previous ones, instead including stronger versions, or gank boss fights.

Isn’t this a bit extreme for a summer break event?

The players were gaining territory mostly thanks to Nord Glacier’s help, but that sentiment was starting to spread, as many were afraid that the event would end before they reached the end.

But we don’t want to leave it half finished.

Still, they were determined to continue. It was normal for players of online games to be stubborn and strive for completion.

…There’s only a few days left of the event.

Kou also felt the drive to speed things up in the dungeon, but she tried to push those thoughts out of her mind and instead focus on making caramelized onions to enhance the flavor of the curry they were making…
