It was quite an imposing speech. From my perspective, though, it honestly felt a bit dull. Still, the important points had already been conveyed. After all, the main purpose of a speech like that wasn’t to inform, but to stir emotions, to inspire the crowd.

It was likely that some of the people here had never experienced battle before. With a speech like that, it wouldn’t be surprising if a few of them changed their minds and decided to fight.

But bringing up Alks had been nothing more than a calculated move, it was painfully obvious. Her father had already cast her aside, or more accurately, had only ever seen her as a tool to begin with. He was probably praising her even now, commending her for being such a “useful” tool.

By now, the people had started raiding the noble sector and were moving toward the royal castle. The group was large, and without the barrier protecting the noble district, it wouldn’t take long to reach their destination. The two from the neutral faction had already evacuated, so I didn’t know exactly what was happening over there.

Instead of worrying about them, I shifted my focus. I made sure Lullus was still with me and started heading to our next location.

Our destination was the gathering spot for the remaining soldiers and knights of Fraus. They had already assembled, probably sensing the unrest. I felt like I had seen some of them before, but I couldn’t quite remember who.

What mattered was that a speech was about to begin here, too. The difference was the atmosphere, more unified, more military. They wore matching uniforms, stood in neat formation, and kept their eyes on the one who seemed to be their captain.

“Thank you for gathering so early in the morning. We’ve received reports that the people are on their way here to revolt.”

About half the group looked surprised. The other half remained silent, just listening.

“We will suppress them at once. Thanks to First Princess Topersion’s foresight, you should all know your assigned positions for emergencies like this. Move quickly and minimize damage. Do not allow anyone to touch His Majesty or His Highness!”

Then, a voice called out, “Excuse me!” as a knight raised his hand. The captain’s face tightened.

“What is it?”
“Are we allowed to kill the people?”
“If they resist, we have no choice. If they surrender peacefully, that’s fine. But if not, we’ll show them what we can do.”
“I see… So, as long as we protect His Majesty and His Highness, that’s all that matters.”
“Our swords are for His Majesty. That’s only natural, isn’t it?”

But the knight didn’t back down, even as the captain frowned harder. The others around him looked confused.

“I did swear loyalty to the Fraus Kingdom. I’m willing to give my all for it, even if it means breaking my body. But… is His Majesty all that the Fraus Kingdom is?”
“What are you implying? You’re being insolent.”
“No, I must speak. A country is only as strong as its people. If all the citizens of the capital die in this rebellion, what future does Fraus have? Sure, someone new may rise to unite the kingdom, but what happens when there’s no one left to support it?”
“Seize him! Silence that fool!”

The captain barked the order. But instead of obeying, the knights around the speaker stepped forward to protect him. He raised his hand again and shouted, “We will defend Fraus! Let me finish!”

And so, the chaos began.

‘So they used Allure to plant suggestions.’

They must have kept hinting over and over that Fraus needed not just its king, but its people too. The idea was planted gently, just enough that it felt like a natural thought. Unlike full Allure, this didn’t involve twisting someone’s whole way of thinking and barely took any effort. But at the same time, it couldn’t force someone to do something they truly didn’t want to.

All they did was shift the goal from “protect the king” to “protect the people.” Since many knights had family and friends among the citizens, it wasn’t a hard push to make. There wasn’t much resistance.

What really mattered was that this wasn’t about choosing between one king and one commoner, it was the king versus everyone. If sacrificing one person could protect the king, most of the knights would still choose to defend Him. But when it came to risking the lives of all the people, the situation changed.

In this situation, only those of lower status had been swayed by the subtle influence of Allure. It was likely easier to guide them, which made sense. For now, these manipulated soldiers were still outwardly following orders, maintaining a facade of cooperation while using the growing unrest as cover. But that wouldn’t last. Eventually, those who hadn’t fallen under Allure’s influence would begin to realize what was happening, and they would start to resist.

The unaffected knights hesitated. Their swords were now aimed at their fellow knights. But once that hesitation faded, they would have no qualms about cutting down the ones acting out of line under Allure’s influence.

The whole thing turned into a mini-war. Heads flew. Blood sprayed.

Knights found themselves cutting down comrades they’d shared meals with the day before. The air filled with screams, a mix of pain, confusion, and betrayal that echoed through the battlefield.

It was strange, watching everything fall apart so fast. Just minutes ago, they’d been a united force. Now, they were killing each other. It was fascinating in a way, but also brutal. I wasn’t bothered by the blood, but I wouldn’t call it a pleasant sight either. Still, for the heroes who fought on the front lines, this must’ve been a common sight.

Even if the captain’s side won early, the damage to morale would be lasting. They wouldn’t lose in single combat against commoners, but their spirit might break. And with the people outnumbering them so badly, that was enough.

They’d be overwhelmed and forced back to the throne. And once they reached that point, the castle would fall.

So, it was time to go find the king.
