…They arrived at their classroom, and were about to enter.

“Hm? Why do I feel like they’re more noisy than usual?”
“I’ve noticed too, I wonder what happened?”

That kind of commotion was typical for students reuniting after summer break, but Hijiri and Subaru sensed there was something more behind the buzz, and they exchanged curious glances as they entered the classroom.

Kou followed shortly behind them, and the moment she set foot in the classroom, she felt everyone’s eyes focusing on her, and there was a deafening silence.

“…Huh? Wh-what happened?” She instinctively hugged her bag, looking around the classroom with unease, until one of her classmates finally ran up to her to explain.

“Look look, this is you, isn’t it?” The girl asked while bringing up a video playback window for Kou to see.

At the very least, she didn’t seem to have any ill intent, her eyes sparkled purely with curiosity. That alone came as a relief to Kou, who then turned her attention to the video and…

“…Yet now we shall stand our ground. We shall spit in the very faces of those wretched developers by seizing the best ending! Together, we shall triumph!!”

There was a white haired girl in the video, raising a fist while talking to a large crowd of people. That had likely been recorded by one of the attendees, and Kou knew very well the figure standing there.

“Is…is that…from the summer event’s..?!” Kou’s face reddened as she looked up to her classmate. That reaction was as good a response as any.

That video was a clip from a well known VR streamer Kirisu Sakura, as she would often discuss popular events in VRMMOs, and that had been a recent highlight.

“Ugh…I didn’t even consider that it could end up being seen here.”

With the numerous fans that popular VR streamer had, it made sense that the number of people seeing that would increase dramatically.

On top of that, the clip had been labeled as showcasing one of the most popular moments in the game, which meant that many people, including plenty who didn’t even play DUO, had heard about Crim. As the realization sank in, Kou felt a headache coming on.

…Then again, she was using an avatar that was identical to her real appearance, so it was only a matter of time before this happened. She forced herself to move on, it had been inevitable.

Once Kou regained her calm, her classmate began talking again.

“By the way, have you heard about this streamer? Apparently, she’s our senior here at school, but in the public entertainment department.”
“Oh? I didn’t know… It’d be cool if that’s true, with her already working like this and all.”

Kou had always pictured the person behind the Kirisu Sakura avatar to be a working adult, so her classmate’s words came as a shock. But then, she recalled that a few years back when Kirisu Sakura made her debut, there were many rumors that she was still a middle schooler.

Counting the years since then, it lined up perfectly with her being in high school now.

“Yeahh, she’s incredible. If she’s actually here, I’d like to meet her and get an autograph.”
“Mhm…yeah…”

With the girl babbling on, Kou gave vague replies and tried to force a smile, the bad feeling she had earlier continuing to become stronger. She had not expected to hear someone like that was so close nearby.

Or maybe it was only a matter of time before she would meet yet another person she knew in-game? She tried to shake off those thoughts, dreading manifesting them into reality. Then, as if wanting to interrupt those thoughts as well, their homeroom teacher arrived.

“So there’s something I’d like to tell you before the opening ceremony.” Their homeroom teacher Asai began with that. “It still feels like barely any time has passed since Mitsuki was able to join us here in person, but we already have yet another transfer student.”

A transfer student?

Those words sounded oddly familiar, prompting Kou to rack her brain trying to remember where she had heard them before, but she just couldn’t place it. Meanwhile, the teacher had turned toward the door and raised her voice.

“With that said, please come in, Kuga.”

In response, the classroom’s door clattered open and a person entered.

“…geh.”

It was a male student. The moment Kou saw him, she let out an uncomfortable groan, which luckily was soon drowned out by the loud choir of her classmates, especially the girls with shrill voices.

He had a slender figure and was slightly taller than average. His face was on the androgynous side with handsome features, almost being able to pass for a boyish girl.

…But he seemed to have a toned body underneath that slim appearance, so he was standing there full of confidence.

Then there was the fact that he seemed completely unbothered, even while standing in such a conspicuous spot. In a way, he looked like a prince out of a fairy tale, one who would rescue a princess from an evil sorcerer.

And…there was his flowy silver hair.

Kou knew only one person who looked like that.

Why is he here?

There was no way she would ever forget that person and his regal appearance.

“Nice to meet you everyone. I’m Kuga Reo, I’ve just been transferred here and will be joining your classroom. I hope we can get along nicely.”

He placed his hand to his chest and bowed like some sort of knight as he introduced himself, and then he seemed to smile a bit when he spotted Kou. There was no doubt about it. He was the principal’s grandson, and the player behind Sorleon, Kuga Reo, who Kou had met not too long before in Kanai Island.
