As had become a common sight lately, the Void Mist filled the horizon from every angle, creeping over the land like spilled juice soaking into a tablecloth.

“Hmm…?”

I walked toward the Void Mist, mimicking the same movement pattern I’d programmed into my sorcery dolls. Only this time—it was me doing it in person. As before, I stopped ten meters from the Mist and extended my left hand.

“Thorn Unravel.”

At my command, the rose ivy coiled around my left-arm gear—«Eiserne Jungfrau»—unraveled into multiple whip-like tendrils that stretched toward the ground.

“Alright. Let’s go.” I snapped my fingers, and the vines, catching the cue, lashed out toward the Void Mist.

But just like in earlier tests, the vines vanished into the Void Mist without encountering any resistance, as if swallowed by real fog. When I pulled them back, they felt lighter—unsurprisingly, the sections that had entered the Mist were sheared off cleanly.

“I mean, I wasn’t expecting much… but seriously? Even with LV99 gear, it’s an instant-death zone. I really hope this thing isn’t a scam.”

Half drowning in unease—no, almost entirely consumed by it—I lifted the ‘Permit’ Azure God had given me and took a cautious step toward the Void Mist.

“……”

As the Void Mist loomed within three to four meters, I swallowed hard—but before I could retreat, the «Permit» in my hand glowed with a blue light, and a golden, sphere-like membrane enveloped my body.

“Gah!”
“—What the—?!”
“That hurt!”
“Tch…”

At that same moment, everyone—Tengai in his Pet Unison state, Kokuyou hidden within my shadow, Kagerou concealed by his «Stealth» skill, and even Amari, who had reduced herself to microscopic water particles—were forcibly ejected from around me.

“Is everyone okay?!” I stumbled back a few steps as the golden membrane vanished, dissolving into the air like a popped soap bubble.

“We’re fine—just surprised to have our stealth forcibly disabled,” Tengai replied with a groan, still in his Naga Raja form. He shifted back into his humanoid body and dusted himself off.

“So it’s not just my stealth—even Pet Unison got disrupted? That’s… not a good sign.” Even Kagerou’s face had taken on a rare, serious look.

“As expected—it failed. Looks like everyone except the Princess was filtered out by the light screen.”

Susa delivered his analysis, as if he had long anticipated this outcome. He then turned toward «Arachnoid» Shiori—a half-human, half-spider member of the Thirteen Demon Generals, clad in tribal attire reminiscent of Native American styles.

“What about the thread connected to the Princess?”

“The moment the defensive membrane activated, all connections were cut instantly.” Shiori bowed her head in apology.

“—So in the end, his invitation is only for me.”

Wow. He’s not even trying to hide the fact that it’s a trap, huh?

“As I said before, I’m against this plan! There’s no way I’d ever approve of sending the Princess alone to meet that devious b̲a̲s̲t̲a̲r̲d̲—especially when he’s clearly using such underhanded tricks!”

“I agree. He’s already demonstrated an unhealthy fixation on Hiyuki. Walking into his domain alone would be exactly what he wants. I advise against it.”

“Exactly! Didn’t I already warn you how messed up, perverted, and creepy he is? You might not fully get it yet—since you haven’t been a girl for long—but trust me, the kind of damage he could do goes way beyond physical. Emotional scars like that last forever!”

“My Lady, please—let’s just run away. The edge of the world isn’t a bad place to live. I’ll make sure you never want for anything.”

Once the reality of the situation set in, Tengai, Lubbock, Tamegoro, and even Kagerou abandoned the idea of facing Azure God head-on—and instead tried to talk me out of it altogether.

While everyone was panicking, Kagerou shamelessly tried to take advantage of the moment—grabbing my hands and preparing to whisk me away. But before he could even blink, Maroudo, Kuin, Gaijin, and Kohaku surrounded him and pummeled him until his face puffed up red like an octopus.

“You b̲a̲s̲t̲a̲r̲d̲! You’ve got some nerve trying to run off with the lady while we—the unofficial fan club—are watching!”
“Die, you pig-headed clown!”
“ARGH—Wait! Why is everyone else sneaking in touches now?! Stop that!!”

Oh, how I wish I could be the poster child for “ignorance is bliss” right now.

“Honestly, it’s not like I want to get involved in all this either.”
“But they’re the ones who started it. We can’t just ignore it.”
“True… but looking at the odds, this isn’t exactly in our favor…”

Even Tengai—who’d normally rather die than show any weakness—looked genuinely uneasy. That alone made the weight of the situation unmistakable.

Then again, expecting fairness when we’re stepping into his territory is laughable. He’s immune to attacks, wields a weapon meant for GMs, and we’re stumbling blind into his domain. Honestly? It’s like a kindergartener trying to challenge a heavyweight boxing champ.

I gave a light shrug and added:

“Sure, we won’t know unless we try—but that doesn’t mean we should just close our eyes and hide in our own house. I’m honestly at my limit here, and I won’t feel any better until I’ve landed at least one punch on him. And even if we don’t go, what makes you think we’ll be safe in the Sky Garden?”

To be honest, if Azure God really decides to get serious, I doubt the Sky Garden will be spared. For now, he’s playing the long game—watching, waiting, and enjoying putting me in a corner. But once the world is fully swallowed by the Void Mist… I have a strong feeling we’ll be next on his list.

Maroudo finally gave his hands—until now delivering punishment—a break. Not that it mattered; Kagerou, the intended target, had long since vanished, leaving Kuin in his place. But no one acknowledged the switch, choosing instead to continue raining down punches and kicks.

With a nostalgic tone, Maroudo quipped: “You really haven’t changed that worrywart streak of yours, huh, Princess? You acted exactly the same back when it was my turn.”

“I guess you could say that. I’m just not the type to give up over something small—it goes against my creed. Maybe it’s the wrong way to live, and maybe I’ll regret it someday… but I can’t stand turning my back on a problem without even trying. What’s the point of life if I don’t follow my heart, right?”

I know—it’s a selfish way to live. But the people around me already understand: even if they can’t agree with my choices, they know I won’t stop. That’s why—

“I’m sorry.”

That was all I could manage in return—just those few, quiet words.

“My Lady, you do know that’s not the kind of thing you say when you’re leaving, right?” Kagerou suddenly appeared at my side, his face no longer red and swollen from earlier, looking completely recovered. He wagged his index finger at me in mock disapproval, nudging me to turn around.

Then, he gestured toward everyone who had gathered to see me off.
