When I was about to part ways with Belltina, her belly rumbled loudly, so I asked permission from Ciel to give away the leftover sandwich. As Belltina’s embarrassed expression quickly beamed with happiness, I left for our room, where we then had tea with Mia.
The next course was Herbology, which wasn’t particularly interesting, and the last class of the day was Combat Training.
As with yesterday, we met up with Palra, but then I felt a small presence behind us.
『So Belltina was enrolled in this course as well.』
『You’re right. I assumed that she wouldn’t have joined courses unrelated to sorceric tools. Did you see her yesterday, Ain?』
『She didn’t really catch my interest, so… At the very least, I don’t think she had a good record yesterday.』
『Well, she does seem to be the sorcerer type…』
『Her Job should also be sorcery-oriented, but her being bad with magic is likely not easy to resolve. Having stamina wouldn’t be a waste no matter what field you’ll be working in, so I don’t think joining this course is a bad idea at all.』
I’d love to just continue chatting with Ciel, but Palra and Belltina positioned themselves on the opposite sides of Ciel, hiding behind Ciel while peeping at each other. What is this situation?
They’re doing this with the smallest being between them, so it must look comical to an outsider.
『What should we do about this?』
『Hmm… It could be a good idea to introduce them to each other.』
While it’s a bit interesting just observing them as is, since Ciel is troubled being sandwiched between them, I presented a solution. Rather, normally they should be introduced to each other by now, right?
Ideally, it would be nice if Palra asked who the mystery girl is, but that’s probably impossible. Meanwhile, there’s even less of a chance Belltina would do that. After all, even though she was able to speak to Ailneige around lunchtime—perhaps because Palra wasn’t there—she’s staying completely silent now.
At my suggestion, Ciel turned around, only for Belltina to hurriedly shift out of her line of sight. However, Ciel turned too quickly, catching the full extent of Belltina’s clumsy attempt to hide.
Ciel already knew that Belltina was around, and she might have also noticed Belltina trying to avoid her line of sight, so she didn’t comment about her timid hiding.
「Belltina, you’re here.」
「B-Bell really was found out!」
From her words and tone, she must have noticed our detection ability.
She has quite the good eyes; it’s a shame that she’s not making the best out of it.
With Ciel confronting Belltina, Palra appears to have gained the confidence to ask about her: 「Ailneige, who is she?」
With the ideal situation suddenly set, Ciel provided a brief introduction.
「This is Belltina, my seatmate during Magic Circle Studies. And this here is Palra, my seatmate in Class A.」
That wasn’t a lot of information, but knowing each other’s names should be enough for a first meeting.
Beyond this, I hope the two of them will do their best to get along. After all, whether it be about Palra or Belltina, Ailneige probably won’t be able to provide more information.
「N-nice to meet you. My name is Palra.」
「Nice…to meet…」
How do I say this? That introduction sounded quite reluctant, as if she only spoke out of obligation.
However, it seems like Belltina truly is the shyest between them, as she not only hid behind Ail, but she also couldn’t even respond with her name.
The reason why Palra was able to communicate somewhat decently might be partly due to how small Belltina is.
I was prepared for awkward silence after this, but surprisingly, Palra initiated a conversation.
「Belltina, are you aspiring to be a hunter too?」
「For Bell… Not really. But Bell thinks that if things don’t go well, Bell might have to become a hunter.」
「I see. For me, I only had becoming a hunter in my mind and nothing else… You’re amazing, Belltina.」
「Bell, amazing?」
「Yup. But then we might not be able to be hunters together; that makes me feel a bit sad.」
『They seem to be hitting it off.』
『They get over their shyness fast… perhaps they’re just on the same wavelength.』
『Like Ain and I?』
『I don’t think they’re at our level. Our time together is incomparable to theirs, after all.』
『Yes, yes! That’s right, absolutely right!』
『At any rate, it would be a lot easier for us if the two of them became friends.』
They’ll probably continue staying with Ailneige in the future.
I’ve said a lot of things about them up until now, but having a friendly conversation like this is honestly difficult for us, so I really hope the two of them can have it between themselves.
『Will it really?』
『I’m sure that we’ll need to form a party at some point in this course, and grouping with them would be a safe bet.』
『Good point. It’ll be much better compared to having strangers.』
Hunters don’t typically go solo. Being able to divvy up roles is important, and most people don’t have the luxury of owning a magic pouch, so in most cases, it’s more profitable to act in groups.
There are even requests that can only be accepted by a party of multiple people. That’s why I believe that we’re going to have to move as a party in the near future.
It is possible that we’ll be grouped randomly, but I don’t think they’ll do that this early on.
As Belltina was starting to be convinced that maybe being a hunter could be a good choice, our teacher Ishparht made his appearance. Today, there are other adults around too: the spearman we’ve met before, a sorcerer-looking lady, and another lady wearing nimble-looking clothes.
Considering their balance, perhaps they’re a four-man party who accepted a request to teach?
Since Ailneige is only interested in swordsmanship, we probably won’t have much interaction with the teachers outside of Ishparht.
They also brought a cart loaded with a large variety of weapons. These are likely for training use.
「Today, we’ll start with 15 laps as well.」
The class started with Ishparht’s announcement, which was met with boos.
And that ends this update! We continue to see our little shy girl Belltina, and it looks like she and Palra are becoming fast friends!
It’s a bit funny how Bell was trying to avoid our girls’ line of sight, meanwhile Palra clearly sees her suddenly just being next to AinCiel, probably confused. I like how Palra had the initiative to continue their conversation, since Palra—while shy—is the type to crave human interaction. Talking to Ciel has trained her this very moment, lol. I also like how Ain was self-aware enough to acknowledge that it’s the best scenario to have the two girls be friends, not only for Ciel, but also for the girls.
Now then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment. Stay healthy, stay safe, and have a nice day~!
