「It seems like today was quite chaotic.」
「Apologies for the unease. However, I’m glad to see that no trouble has befallen you, Miss Ailneige.」
「The hero seemed to have gotten caught up in something. Is he alright?」

With the end of the party, we’re currently having tea in Princess Leshimiiya’s room.
To be more precise, I had a question in mind while I planned to play with the spirits anyway, which led to this arrangement.
While the princess was likely exhausted from the party, she readily welcomed us upon hearing that I had an inquiry.

From her perspective, she likely wants us to owe her favors—even small ones—so I expected her to accept.
Rather, I’m hoping that having the princess do us favors like this would alleviate her stress a bit. After all, if she ever collapsed from stress, we might be affected too.
I get the answer I want, while the princess’ mental stress will slightly decrease; a win-win situation.

In truth, it’s only a trivial question, so it probably wouldn’t be much of a favor.

Anyway, we’re now chatting about the events that unfolded earlier today.

「Yes, he’s doing fine. We had already warned him that incidents such as this might happen, you see.
Conflicts of that nature will surely be necessary for him. In general, we will only watch from the sidelines, but if Tweisel flaunts and abuses his status to bring harm upon the hero, we’ve informed him that we will step in.」
「Well, I’m glad to hear that. After all, the annihilation of Ausente would risk disorder in the world.」

The reason I chose to say “annihilation” rather than something more subtle like “disappearance” or “collapse” is because, frankly, the dissolution of Ausente wouldn’t be a major issue as long as a new power structure quickly emerged.
Ciel and I don’t particularly care about it, but I think Mother Fii would rather avoid seeing destabilization in the balance of power between nations, so I made sure to emphasize it.

With a serious expression, Princess Leshimiiya nodded,「I’ll keep it in mind.」

「By the way, there seems to be someone I haven’t seen before. Or rather, someone I haven’t seen here before.」

We’ve already had tea time with the princess several times now, but today is a bit different from the usual.
I’m not sure whether it’s fine to ask or not, but I opted to point it out. After all, a classmate is present here with us.
While there should be no need for concern, I’d prefer to have the princess directly clarify her position.

「You may already know her, but she is Rynaetra Gaielston, a sort of retainer of mine.」
「I am Rynaetra. I act as both the princess’ guard and attendant. Pleased to make your acquaintance.」

While she seemed to find me dubious, Rynaetra gave a proper greeting and bow.
While we’re close in age, she seems to be capable of compartmentalizing her opinions from her duties.
I’ve already seen it during her introduction, but she has straight dark brown hair, and she gives the impression of a silent lady noble, I suppose?
She’s currently wearing a maid uniform, projecting the image of a humble and unassuming maid. However, from her way of speaking, she seems to be the serious and straight-laced type.

「It’s alright for her to be here?」
「Yes, of course.」
「Then, I’d like to ask—Is there a student named Iena currently enrolled at the academy?」
「Iena… is it? Ryna, could you please?」
「Please grant me a moment.」

Rynaetra left the room at the princess’ request, but is that really okay?
Wasn’t she supposed to be a guard?

「Is it alright to have your guard leave?」
「I’ll be fine, as long as you don’t have any surprises for me, Miss Ailneige. Besides…」

The princess suggestively pursed her lips, but I understand what she wants to say.
Even if Rynaetra were here, there’s no assurance that she’ll be able to fulfill her role as the princess’ guard.
I don’t know how capable she is, but even if she excels among her peers, her presence wouldn’t make much of a difference. The sorcery-inhibiting item the princess had before would be more reliable as protection.

Well, I’m sure the princess herself understands that Ailneige wouldn’t suddenly lash out.
Perhaps it’s her way of expressing her trust in us.

After that, the princess steered us back to the main topic.

「If I may confirm, this Iena didn’t do anything improper towards you, did she?」
「That isn’t the case, but you really don’t know anything about her, princess?」
「Yes, I’m ashamed to admit that when it comes to the upperclassmen, I still only know a portion of them.」

In other words, she knows everyone in our year.
Also, the puppet’s presence doesn’t seem to be considered a problem at the second academy.
Either that, or they simply aren’t aware of its existence. In any case, I don’t believe her to be a harmful presence.

「About Iena, I don’t fully understand her either.
I have another question, but are there any high-ranked hunters mixed among the people of this academy?」
「High-ranked hunters…」

Seemingly stuck on something, the princess began contemplating.
And then, as if recalling something, she suddenly raised her head.

「I’ve heard that there is a hunter currently undertaking a certain request within the academy.」
「A certain request?」
「The request involves staying hidden within the academy premises, and if a student manages to discover them—with evidence and certainty—that student will be awarded merits.」
「So such a thing is possible.」
「In other words, perhaps this Miss Iena is that high-ranked hunter?」
「I don’t believe it’s her exactly, but I suspect that she may be connected to the hunter.」

I feel like I’ve already said too much, but in consideration of the princess’ mental health, I’ll just leave it at that.
It’ll be a problem if she collapses, after all.
Besides, I’ve gained some helpful information. Though it only served to reinforce my suspicion, there wasn’t anything critical.

As our conversation continued, Rynaetra returned. She then whispered something into the princess’ ear.

「There appears to be a student named Iena in her final year.」
「I see, thank you very much.」
「No worries, I’m glad to be of help.」
「Now then, I’ll be heading up now.」
「Of course, take your time.」

Now then, what games shall we play today?

And that ends this chapter! Surprisingly, we got some time with the princess.

Imagine being in HRM and there’s this one classmate you’re pretty sure must be a chef, and when you corner them about it, they’re like “Ya got me, now choose any one subject you want to be marked as PASSED for.” Crazy work. But yeah, that’s a pretty unique way to reward students with high magic power perception, I guess? I wonder if it’s just a recent thing or if they have different hunters every 3 or 4 years?
