It would be troublesome if things escalated to the point where the examination—or even the academy’s opening—was canceled.
For that reason, I’ll assist in ensuring that no one, aside from the boy who caused this mess, dies while observing how things unfold.

The person who rushed to the rescue was the boy from earlier—the one with unusually high magic power. He sprinted faster than he had during the mock battle, perhaps even close to the speed my proctor used in his final attack, and headed straight toward the thunder sorcerer boy.

I don’t know if he intends to knock the sorcerer unconscious or somehow contain the berserk magic power, but as the sorcerer was enveloped in electricity, coming too close would just result in burns.
As I was wondering what he would do, the boy simply ran straight for the sorcerer, seemingly unconcerned.
The boy’s body was marred with painful burn marks, his face twisting in agony. And yet, he didn’t stop. Just as I saw him muttering something to the sorcerer—who was desperately trying to keep his magic power under control—the boy punched him in the stomach.

Taking the hit, the sorcerer clenched his teeth in frustration, but then he appeared to have lost consciousness as his limp body fell to the boy’s shoulder.
This stopped the flow of magic power to the magic circles, but that wasn’t enough to stop the incomplete spell.
Without the caster controlling it, the accumulated energy had no where to go and was on the verge of bursting.

Fortunately, without an active caster, it should lose some of its potency.
While it could still cause harm, it’s unlikely to be fatal. In fact, the proctor was already moving to ensure there would be no casualties.
Meanwhile, the surrounding examinees simply stood there, dumbfounded, staring at the two boys caught in the vortex.

The boy let out a visible sigh of relief, so I suppose, as with his earlier match, he has a general tendency to celebrate prematurely.
Noticing the surrounding commotion, the boy began looking around when suddenly, 「Move away, lay on the ground!」 a girl’s clear voice echoed across the arena.
Either out of surprise or reflex, the boy laid the thunder sorcerer down and threw himself to the ground at a safe distance.
The other examinees quickly followed suit and laid on the ground.

Immediately after, bluish-white light erupted from the sorcerer—or rather, from his gloves.
The energy—more powerful than what scarred the boy before—scattered violently, crackling in all directions like lightning. However, even striking anyone, the bolts abruptly turned towards the sky.
Above, there was a spirit. It was smaller than Lisyl and had the appearance of a yellow-haired girl, and she manipulated the lightning bolts as if they were toys.

Spirits wouldn’t typically intervene in human affairs without cause, so it was likely the doing of the elf girl I saw earlier. And just as suspected, as I turned my eyes back to the boy, the elf girl was there approaching him.

She pulled him up and said something to him with a pout. As the boy replied, her cheeks flushed red, and she turned around before walking off.

『Well, that got resolved somehow.』
『True. Though I get the feeling this turned into a much bigger deal thanks to them.』
『The hunters had some kind of sorceric tool prepared, after all. I don’t know how effective it would have been, but it probably would’ve resolved the situation, right?』
『I believe so.』

Considering this was likely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many of these students, it was no surprise that some might overextend themselves.
I’m sure this isn’t the first time someone lost control of their sorcery like the sorcerer boy.
So I wouldn’t be surprised if there is already an established countermeasure.

Whether this was the case or not, only the proctors have the answer, and I have no intention of asking them. I wouldn’t ask Ciel to inquire about it either.
Calmly posing that kind of question in a moment like this would clearly be out of place.
So I just had Ciel pretend to be shocked speechless and continued to enjoy the idle chat with her.

『Come to think of it, Ain. Could you do what that spirit did earlier?』
『Not possible.』
『Are you sure? While it was with the help of your power, was able to do the same thing against Tur, you know?』

Now that she mentioned it, she did pull off a similar feat.
Still, it shouldn’t be possible to redirect normal sorcery like that… but then I remembered something.
The thunder sorcerer boy had lost control of his magic power. In other words, the energy should be close to a neutral state where it does not belong to anyone.

If that’s the case, with the combination of the Dance Princess and Song Princess abilities, we might be able to hijack control of it.
I can’t say for certain until we try, but it might even be possible for me to manage it on my own.
If I shift my focus away from maintaining our barrier, I’m confident that I can do it. However, I have no intention of undoing the barrier protecting Ciel. Not even for a moment.

『I won’t know until I try, but there probably won’t be any opportunity to do so.』
『That’s true. Besides, even without trying that, Ain probably has other ways of handling this kind of situation.』
『Well, I could just encase the sorcerer boy inside a barrier. Though, even I don’t know what the result of that would be.』

If the magic power had nowhere to escape, the berserk energy might turn on the sorcerer himself. Alternatively, the lightning deflected by the barrier could end up registering as an attack from me, resulting in the spell dissipating upon contact.

『It looks like the tests are resuming now.』

After being paused due to the course of events, the entrance exam was resumed.
Only the boy who punched the sorcerer suffered significant injuries, but with the generous use of healing potions, his wounds were mended, leaving no visible scars.

Amid all this, Ciel grumbled, “Can’t the exams just finish already?”

◇◇◇

Now, we’ve reached the final portion of the entrance exam: the etiquette test.
This time, I’ll be taking the exam instead of Ciel. The reason is simple—Ciel would perform too well.
I vaguely remember teaching Ciel basic manners and etiquette in the past, but somewhere along the way, she overtook me.

Well, I never formally studied etiquette to begin with, and what I know doesn’t really align perfectly with this world’s standards.
Ciel has constant awareness of her body’s movements, right down to the tips of her fingers, so there’s no way I could ever compete with her.

And that ends the first part of this chapter! The commoner boy really played hero this time. Not satisfied with attracting the ladies the other chapter, he even had a (potentially) tsundere elf girl save him in his heroics. Or maybe she was just mad. Either way, main character energy we have here.

Also, I love how he just punched the noble boy unconscious. Very practical of him.

Up next, we have Ain dancing (in public) for the first time!

Now then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment. Stay healthy, stay safe, and have a nice day~!
